In Drishti IAS Current News Bulletin, we bring to you a summary of news events that happened last week. These laws are effective from 1st July 2024. These new laws include the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023. It is noteworthy that these new laws have been implemented in place of the British-era laws e.g. Indian Penal Code 1860, Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 and Indian Evidence Act 1872.
In another section, Recently RBI has joined Project Nexus. RBI has taken this step due to the cooperation being done with fast payment systems in various countries through UPI for some time. Through this, RBI has tried to connect countries across the border through payment systems. Recently, the DRDO Defence Research and Development Organization has started preliminary studies for Project-76. Under this project, studies will be done on the design and development of indigenous conventional submarines. However, the process of purchasing new submarines will continue under Project-75i.
