The GI Joe Movie has the BEST version of the theme song, and a super-cool opening. Literally don't remember anything other than that. I'll have to watch the SECRET GALAXY video about it to remember!
From what I’ve seen in the TMNT fandom so far most are loving that there’s finally new 2003 show figures. The only people not liking them so far are people who just aren’t a fan of Super7.
My favourite Version of Death´s Head has the green Clothes on. So that gives me hope that at one Point Hasbro is re-releasing that Version for normal Customers, yes.
That 2003 Turtles series was absolutely fantastic. Nostalgia aside, I dare say it was the best Ninja Turtles cartoon so I think it's super cool that these exist. They're not a must have for me but I'll keep them in mind. I'm super stoked to try to get my hands on that Death's Head but I do wish he in his original green costume from the Transformers Comics.
Cops articulation originally was as good as you can get. The legs were connected to a piece of rubber so they could be moved in any and all directions. I remember wishing all figures had the same style of limbs.
I know you are not a negative guy, but if Star Wars is your bread and butter, and X-Men your steak and potatoes, I sometimes think it'd be funny if you found a toyline that was just anathema to you, because then it'd be your orange juice and toothpaste.
Love my rewinds when I get up on Sunday morning and have a hot coffee.....preordered warrior with ball and chain and Jaeger from Savage Crucible..happy😊 cheers Robo...🤙👍
As someone whose favorite version of TMNT is the 2003 cartoon, I'm mainly just glad that the Super7 figures exist at all. Hopefully other companies like NECA will follow suit and release their own versions to compete.
The 2003 TMNT was genuinely great. They even adapt the Jack Kirby issue of the original TMNT run in an episode. My only complaint is that they make Shredder an Utrom
The DC Multiverse SDCC Exclusive "Funeral For a Friend Statue" Superman is literally my definition of preferred exclusive, its just a repaint of 2 elements in gold... But the problem is that its Funeral for a Friend! And i love that story so much, and that statue/cover specifically! And its only going to be on the floor? Not even a chance online? Id normally never care, cause its the perfect kind of exclusive fodder, but its the one I would really want
@@Great_Getter because some people can never really be happy. Yes, it's the Action Comics #1000 mold. It's still a solid Superman mold, and it's a toy line
@Robin0928 just don't get it. The exclusive is an important character = whining. Buy if the exclusive is a repaint that isn't remotely necessary = whining.
@@Great_Getter There are some people in the DC Multiverse fandom that are like "every figure needs to be a 100% unique sculpt, a definitive look, have dozens of alternate hands, heads, and accessories, and never be more expensive than $20
I remember OG Death's Head. The comic books portrayed them as somebody who has an imposing air about him but with a deadpan sense of humor. And you can tell by the way he mocks his adversaries. I like him better than Death's Head II.
I always love it when you talk about Handbook cred. I'm the same way, there are a ton of characters that I originally cared about because of their OHOTMU entry (such as Death's Head, but also Dreadknight, Taskmaster, Stingray, Midnight Sun, Killer Shrike, and probably a dozen or more others)
Midnight Sun is my biggest "Handbook Cred" character. Have absolutely never read a single comic with him featured but I want a figure solely based on his entry.
30:34 Ah yes, that Rachel Summers trading card, it gave kid me feelings I didn't understand until years later. We need a modern figure of this version of her to complete Excalibur!
I was just in my 20s when 2k3 TMNT came out, and while I was still into nerdy shiz enough to still watch cartoons & even buy a good amount of the original toys, I never watched it when it aired. I JUST went through the series, and barring the last two more-kiddie seasons, it is PHENOMENAL. Probably my favorite, and I was raised on the Fred Wolf show (which, other than the first couple episodes, does NOT hold up haha). Seasons 2 & 3 are my FAVORITE, and just like the 1990 movie, it faithfully adapts a LOT of the original Mirage comics. You should put the Doctor Fate helmet on a flight stand next to/behind him. He's magic, he doesn't need to hold it! 😉
The 2003 turtles was my real jumping off point for turtles. My sister got into the OG series and I liked it just fine but it was the 2003 series that really set its talons in me and turned me into a big fan. The show and the beat em up games at that time. So excited for these figures as a result, finally actually getting a set of the brothers in that art style in sweet sweet plastic form. I had a bunch of the playmates figures from the time but they really just retooled OG designs for those.
Cops n Crooks was one of the many shortlived 80s franchises that disappeared as quickly as it arrived, so I never had the chance to collect many of them. In fact, I only had one; Bullet. He was an ammunition themed villain with a wheeled cannon that fired caps. I kit-bashed him into a Punisher figure.
Yeah! New Death's Head! Today is a good day, yes? EDIT: Also, don't worry about mispronouncing R'lyeh, humans lack the tentacles to pronounce it correctly! And I love they gave him a Lovecraft head, I am so down for it.
I'm with you, I've never seen the 2K3 show but I like the design of these, it makes me want to go back and watch the show as well. I was panic clicking so fast to get the Eastman & Laird Turtles I accidentally ordered 3, but with how fast they were going I wasn't about to go back to try and change it.
I tried to rewatch 2003 in preparation for the Super 7 2003 figures. And then I realized I hate Hamato Splinter and when Shedder is a stranger. That led me to buying the redeco 2012 Turtles. I did have to run Robo's pronunciation of Shazam back twice though. I think that's fair.
@@AMVH2012I met Jackson Bostwick shortly after nu52. To say he was mad about the whole situation is an understatement. You think Tennant is a diehard Doctor Stan? He’s not even close to Jackson on the Big Red Cheese. (Then again, I don’t think Jackson married his predecessor’s daughter…?)
@@RoboDontKnow I would too. I used to love that show. I was obsessed with the bad guy when I was a kid because I thought he looked awesome. I happened to see it about a month ago tho and it's worse than Toy Story graphics
People like to talk about the trauma fans experienced watching beloved G1 Transformers characters die in the 86 movie, but god damn, watching Cobra Commander and Roadblock wander through that barron wasteland, with the Commander saying "I was once a man..." was sad as hell 😭
The biggest downside to this, though, is that people who live outside the US and want it, are gonna have to fight tooth and nail just to get the dang thing. Even if it got released on Hasbro Pulse, that would be good for the UK collectors who grew up on the Marvel UK Transformers comics and whatnot, but it still excludes Australasian fans, like me, who'll have to spend hundreds of dollars on eBay just to get it. The sooner Hasbro opens Pulse up to Australasia, the better... Though, with the import tax that gets added at checkout thanks to New Zealand's import tax laws, buying from Pulse might end up being about as expensive as buying from scalpers on eBay. Sigh. 🙃
Came here for the Rewind, stayed for Dan's Secret Galaxy shirt. Thanks for the Saturday Morning Viewing while I nosh before getting ready for work, Robo!
14:09 Can we talk about the TMNT figure burnout. Every week there’s another company doing another line of turtles in addition to the companies that are already doing them in 75 different versions. 😂
That's true, that's why I don't buy all of those either, haha. BUT, at least most of the companies doing TMNT are doing different versions, different sizes, different scales. With Spider-Man it's mostly the same across the companies (well, Legends doing a bunch of comic versions, I'm talking cinematic), all trying to do an accurate version in the same scale and with a lot of articulation.
The only negatives I've seen for 2003 tmnt are they aren't the vintage turtles and a lot of fans have kinda pushed those comments to the side because we've been waiting a long time for them
@@KootenaiKingin playmates defense, many of those were their designs. What baffles me is how that was worked out before the line was started. It was the whole point of the line.
I was planning to preorder the 2003 Turtles and then, in true Street Fighter fashion, here comes a new challenger. Bandai announced their Vegeta in older battle clothes figure.
The hair on the Rebel Trooper in the 2pack is darker than the initial release. That's something, I guess. A couple of mentions for people who didn't hear: Savage Crucible wave 2 is up for preorder now on their site, and Fresh Monkey Fiction's exclusive Dracula and Forgotten King will be released later on in the line packaging
Conflicted on Hyde. I still need one but not sure if I'm feeling the white hair. I *completely* missed out on the Neca first turtles. I saw pictures floating around and just never looked into or saw that they were going to be exclusives. Usually the algorithms are better at giving me a heads up. Hopefully they'll be another run, NECA has been good on sharing the SDCC wealth with some form of rereleases. I definitely want 2. 2003 TMNT has me excited. Though they look a little gorilla proportioned, I don't know if that's the arms are too long or the legs too short. The show had some very superhero adult designs. As much as I am a 90s kid and love those collectibles because they remind me of toys I grew up with, I really want to see nostalgia move forward about 5, 10 years to my early teen years though those were shows and properties I loved, I was moving out of traditional toys and into video games and card game.
The ‘87 Joe movie is much better than you’ve heard. Many of the OOG fans don’t like it because of the weirdness, but really it’s no weirder than most of the cartoon. It has maybe the best opening 10 minutes of any animated movie. Ever. Strongly recommend watching if you enjoy the Transformers movie (slight edge to that flick, but both are a major step up from their respective series’ in terms of animation quality and writing).
@@BrooklynBum But not the Fatal Fluffies? Not the ghosts of ancient warriors? Not human-animal hybrid Cobra soldiers? Not the Vines of Evil? Lol. If we’re comparing Cobra-La to the comics, sure. If we’re comparing Cobra-La to the rest of the cartoon…that’s an argument that would need robust justification.
The 2003 Turtles fans are very happy about it. Anyone who is negative about it are most likely other TMNT fans, which there is PLENTY of figure representations of. 2003 is the only one that hasn't had good figure representations yet. Hot take but the 2003 Turtles is just a much better show than 1987 if you take nostalgia away, out of all the shows 2003 is the closest to the actual comics
Oh, I don't doubt it's better. I don't even remember a lot about the original but even Veebs, a tried and true Turtles fan, always tells me to only watch the first few episodes. I have watched quite a bit of the 2012 series in snippets on PlutoTV and enjoyed the hell out of it.
Man, as a kid, I didn't know who Dr. Fate was, but damn, I loved that Super Powers figure. The gold and blue is a great color combo. That Dredd is an easy pass. I feel like that pleather will degrade over time. I hope I'm wrong!
Was really hoping, amidst all the TMNT coverage, that there'd be some mention of the absolutely bonkers Heat Boys solicitation of Donatello (which completes their core four offerings).
My first year, back in 2005, I agreed to pick exclusives for other people and it was a nightmare. It's hard enough to get your own, much less several all over the con floor.
Got my mezco TMNT My two classified firefly Finally got my tripwire for 35 bucks. Retro carnage And manage find a onslaught wave green goblin at only 19 Euro, life's good guys 😊
This week I got: S.H. Figuarts Guts (Berserker Armor) Mafex The Batman Figma GoodSmile Levi Ackerman World of Halo MasterChief Halo 4 World of Halo Big Shot Battle Pack World of Halo Tartarus and Prophet of Mercy
I really like the 03 Turtles. Not enough to get them but I wonder if Neca is doing every animated version of the turtles. I would love a set based off Rise of the TMNT.
Damn I didn't even know the TMNT 2 pack sold out. I was expecting Robo to announce when there goin g up. That's what I get for working 2 jobs and missing out. These exclusive gimicks need to end.
I think the TMNT 03 figures look good, but the lack of accessories while keeping the same already high end m price I don’t think bodes well for what is going on over at Super7.
