Ah Bath! My uni town! It’s so lovely! Haven’t been back for ages! I was there 2013-2016! I went to the theatre royal there but never to the Ustinov or the egg! Loved your comment about the egg😂 I recognised it even before you said oh my god hey! The fudge is nice from fudge kitchen, i knew people from uni who used to work there! I never went to the cosy club.I saw Danielle Hope as Dorothy in the London palladium production and then met Sophie Evans outside the theatre as they were collecting for the race for life they were running the next day I think, she signed my programme! She was very nice! I definitely need to get to Moulin Rouge it looks amazing! I’m going to six again as its back in Cambridge where I live and am from at the end of this month and fisherman’s friends also at the end of April! I’ve just been cast in a production of Urinetown that will be on at the ADC theatre in Cambridge in June so very excited for that too!

As it's my birthday on 4th January and, because when I was growing up my dad worked FOH in a theatre, seeing panto in January has been a tradition for me for 50 years. Seeing panto in December is so "last year"!!! We saw Sleeping Beauty at the Marlowe in Canterbury last week and it was wonderful. The only pre and post Christmas change was they just wished you happy new year during the curtain call rather than Merry Christmas and happy new year.

so glad you mentioned where derren brown showman is playing - i'm seeing it for the third time on its final performance. it'll be my first ever west end visit and show, so it's nice to have an idea of where i'm going. he's definitely very spooky, but if anyone has ever had even the smallest inkling that you'd enjoy seeing him live, i encourage you to go. showman is my favourite live show he's ever done, it has so much heart and it's made me sob in my seat every time

I really love your weekly volgs. No matter what is going on in my life, these always make me smile! A couple comments, I wonder if some shows like Allegiance, plays better in that type of theatre? I have never been to such a theatre. I am curious how it is for an audience. I loved seeing Fun Home on Broadway in the round. I have only seen Allegiance on a big screen. I liked it a lot but didn't feel any songs except the two that you liked, were very memorable. The story and acting were great! I had to Google your question about Peter Pan because I knew it was probably no one I knew as it must have been a British actor. I found it was Bonnie langford, not known to me! And last, I am a big fan of New Tricks too. I have all the DVD's. Sadly Dennis Waterman died May of last year.

Mayflower is my happy place, (20min drive away) - got 6 shows booked so far for this year (inc MFL) 😃. My daughter performed on stage there last year in The Lightning Thief which was an awesome experience. It's worth checking out their sister studio - MAST nearby which showcases a lot of smaller new shows.

Embankment underground is also easy access to Charing Cross theatre Been there for a couple of shows

Could you explain what UK theatres define as "Panto"? We've a different idea of what pantomime means, in the US, I think.
