Weekly Vlog # 281: A Disaster | Getting ready for Xmas

Hi everyone
welcome back to another slice of my weekly waffling, I hope you've
all had a good week. If its your first time stopping by the channel, thank you and you are most welcome!
This week's vlog starts and ends with a shopping haul LOL I don't know about you but I love having a nosy at what people buy. Its been
a busy week all in all. My long awaited trip to the dentist was on Tuesday and my gosh I felt like I'd done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson at the end of it. At least I'm top of my teeth now, got to look after those peggies! I stupidly trekked off to work on Thursday without checking the weather and Storm Ciarán was about to hit the Netherlands. Thankfully the option of hybrid working meant I could get back home in the afternoon before it really started to land so I got home safely and hunkered down in my very messy craftroom. I thought I had a free day on Friday but it turns out the morning was not quite the one I expected and our heating is on the blink. Talk about the worst timing ever! I'm hoping its all fixed before our visitors arrive but it will be a tight squeeze. At least a "pop to the shops"
cheered me up as Christmas has hit the shelves here. I bought some super cute Christmassy things and of course some of them are craft
related. Talking of which, I also received another delivery from #onedaysaving which was perfect timing because I also had to draw
the winner of the bee diamond painting kit so I did a spot of crafting and well, head on over to The Woven Almanac channel if you want to hear all about it. As this week's video loads, Lawrence and I will have been in Belgium for the weekend. I'll be sure to tell you all about it in next week's vlog.

Thanks for the catch up. I look forward to seeing the lamp lit and your house all decked out for Christmas. That throw looked so soft, who can resist! Looked like jack had claimed the bee blanket so you needed another throw anyways. I hope your boiler is fixed before you mom and sister arrive. What a hassle. Thanks for sharing. See you next week.

Lovely catch up. Not good about your heating. I really hope it is only a small part that needs replacing. Look forward to maybe seeing your Mum in next weeks video xx PS Yesterday I went to our new Hobby craft with my Grand daughter. I didn't buy much but we then went to the nearby garden centre for a coffee. Christmas all out in there and I saw a brilliant little merry go round. Then saw it was almost £120. Oh well ha ha

Thanks for a chatty episode Dawn. Do hope your heating gets sorted quickly! I’ve also had problems with the weaving Stephen method in a jumper so don’t use it now 😕. Love seeing all your purchases 😊😊

@@DawnsDays we are in rural Cheshire … LOTS of water, the main road of the village was flooded for about 12 hours .. lovely and quiet xx lol We are UP the hill so could get out x Lots of wind and rain today x Stay safe x

Hi Dawn, I hope your family catch up in Belgium was a great success, and that your mam and Estelle arrived safely. We had our boiler serviced two weeks ago and every morning I have to get up to boost the water pressure as the heating doesn't come on and there's no hot water. The engineer is coming next week to look at it (we've had him for years and years) but I've a nasty feeling he may say that we either need a new boiler or an expensive part. Eleanor has had a dreadful cough for 8 weeks and was finally sent for an x-ray on Thursday so she'll get the result this week. Zoe has also had a terrible cough for 5 weeks and she's seen a doctor who says it will go away in a few weeks - I'll be interested to see if it does. You're lucky Lawrence goes into the spare bed, I have to move if either of us is ill 😂x

Engineer came and went after and we are £352 poorer - still cheaper than a new boiler!! George is much the same, Eleanor has bacteria in her lungs so is on antibiotics, welcome to my World 🤣😂🤣 xx

I always grin when you start your sentence with "The Dutch ..." 😁When peanutbutter was introduced in the Netherlands from the States, the word 'boter' (butter) was legally reserved for products that contained at least 80% of real butter ('roomboter'). So 'pindaboter' wasn't an option for it contained no butter at all. It is said that since there was already 'leverkaas' (liver cheese) to eat on bread that had no cheese in in, 'pindakaas' was adopted as a name for the spreadable peanut goody. As for the eggs: my grandparents used to trade in eggs and I can only remember trays of 30 and boxes of 10 eggs. I have no clue as of why 10 and not 12. It probably has to do with the metric system? The boxes of 4 or 6 eggs are a more "recent" package. And 'bok', plural 'bokken', is used here to refer a male goat or deer. Hope that helps 😂 Sorry your heating is having issues.
