This movie was shot by my good friend Sam and features interviews and concert footage of Ween live at Terminal 5 in NYC. It is the story of three artists and how they do their thing.
In the mid 90's I was a noob guitarist, and had a friend that was good at poetry. We started making songs up on the spot, and he would flip through the TV channels with the sound off, and sing about what we were looking at. We called ourselves BarBQ Sauce, and we had 2 or 3 cassette tapes full of these nonsense songs that nobody else laughed at, or could even listen to besides us. One of my friends bought a bass and wanted in on the action. We changed the band name to Captain Colostomy, and we probably filled 6 tapes front and back full of songs. I remember seeing the album cover for Chocolate and Cheese at a record shop, and my friend took a huge chance and bought it. We listened to it and basically thought it was a more polished version of what we were already doing. He then got Pure Guava, and God Ween Satan, and we found out they started off just as polarizing as us. The only way they could get worse was to release a country album which they also did. I liked Ween up to the country album, but only for laughs. They were the "Kids in the Hall" version of a rock band. The Mollusk however, blew my fucking mind and still does. Now I love their entire catalogue and I've seen them multiple times live. My bands did nothing, and we are the only 3 fans of them. haha
I think that this documentary isn't necessarily a troll as much as it is an avant-garde work of art. In ten years, people will understand the genius in this piece.
Gerald Stern is one of my heroes! We call him Uncle Jerry, and he's one of the best living US poets around. Deaner is one of the most badass guitar players in the world. I'm amazed this video exists!
in fact there were two tapes and I put them together on one cassette... I still have the tape and the j-card buried in my archives... time to go digging.
Like minded people do find it. I'm a huge Ween fan. Friends do have moments man, they come to be at odds through weird circumstances... but true friends get past it. Ween forever!
A friends a friend who knows what being a friend is, talking with a friend. As friends we were always so close but so far away... friends in life are special do you want me as your special friend? Cause you're the friend that I've been searching for.
@@papo352 really doesn't matter though i guess. i probably wouldn't have come across this great film if it was titled something cliche, and not mentioning ween. thanks deaner :P
Well this as only been up for a month,so I guess 168 views is pretty good. This I think is a great portrait of three artists who as younger men were told,"No,you can't be an artist",and decided to hell with it and were anyway.Great post from the BFT!
He asked him if he got in all right because it took 2 hours for the place to let us in making many many people miss the first few songs. Amazing show none the less. Strap On!
+sküll düggery I REALLY have no idea what you're talking about. Who are u talking about and what did they do wrong? Reading your post was like reading a new enhanced version of the English language, & I was living abroad when it was implemented.
