Correct song title is Mountains and Buffalo. B-side to Tried and True 7 inch single. Ween has killer non-album singles, rarities, and demos. Wish they would officially compile and release this stuff...
This song's opening riff is strikingly similar to Neil Young's song, On The Way Home. That song was on Young's 1968 album, Sugar MOUNTAIN. And obviously, Young was in BUFFALO Springfield. Another classic Ween tip of the hat.
+Liam Cooper that's kinda sad, but you can paint on whatever you want. I did that to a copy of Madame Butterfly, but it was so scratched it was unplayable, so I didn't feel bad about it. I don't have Oranges and Lemons on vinyl, I'm still looking for that one for my collection, so yeah, you just broke my heart....lol

I think it would have helped la cuc along along with Britney demo but they are witheld. I can see this songs vibe not being right for Quebec perfection (their most perfect offering imo). Mollusk right behind it). Love all of it actually. My favorite band.
Great tune - album worthy for sure. At first, it sounds like John Lennon's guitar riff from his 1980 song "Woman" - then it quickly becomes something VERY different. Quebec is one of my all-time favorite albums - but they could have replaced "Fucked Jam" and "I Don't Want it" very easily with this. Who knows why bands make decisions they do. Anyway, its their album - so whatever. Why did the Beatle's not put "Strawberry Fields" and "Penny Lane" on Sgt. Pepper instead of "Lovely Rita" and "Good Morning, Good Morning" ??
+Beej OG Yes, its a been year since this post and I realize I was wrong about "I Don't Want It." Its a good song actually. Sometimes its takes multiple listens and frame-of-mind change.
That argument may go on forever ! Maybe that's why Magical Mystery Tour became my favorite. Actually, Good Morning Good Morning sounds better on the anthology version with no horns - and heavy rhythm guitar sounding like the Clash almost. But big production was the order of the day on that album. There is a bootleg version out there with the guitar solo too and no horns. But John Lennon did dismiss Good Morning, Good Morning as a "piece of garbage." But its actually interesting; with its dozen or so time signatures. Remember, a weaker Beatle's song may be better than most other bands anyway.
theyve talked about a new shinola for years, but since ween split theyve both said theyd have to be on better terms, musically playing together again, to release a new shinola.
@EMTTHHN Here, I'll mostly clue you in. Ween has a lot of songs that the uninitiated would describe as "shitty" or even as "shit." As we know, Ween can not make a bad song. They merely make really "brown" or "chocolatey" songs. And who isn't in a brown mood now and then? Ween does it all, and no one ever dreamed of doing brown like Ween. ...that said, this song isn't very "brown" at all. It used to have that meaning...now its just kinda used randomly to describe something as "Ween-like."
brilliant. one of my favorite by them. the vocals remind me of old Pink Floyd. just brilliant. i wish they would release a new Shinola with all of their unreleased material.
Dude, fuck Grizzly Bear. I get what you're saying here, but they're just terrible human beings. They're a bunch of assholes who literally said they don't want anyone who disagrees with their political views to buy their music, or be their fans. I think Tame Impala would be better anyway.
Hmm, not exactly like them, but if you like that style of music you might enjoy them! Tame Impala's singer sounds sooo much like Paul McCartney, it's surreal. Their music is considered "stoner music" by a lot of people.
@dammitineedaname this guy has posted things I've never heard of, and I have piles of unreleased album session tracks I got off browntracker. google it.
