Actually my favorite part is from 2:16 to 2:40 . The "woo oh-oh-oh" followed by the early solo and then for the main solo is incredible, a pleasure to my ears.

They actually sound pretty damn good live.

This feels like a alternative universe where they used the sound they orgnially wanted

If some of you don't remember, Ill tell you this. This song is what made Weezer become mainstream. The music video to Buddy Holly was released on every copy of Microsoft Windows 95. Sadly the computers we had back then could barely play video as it took a while to buffer it before it played. Also, some of you say it sounds off from the studio version. Well when they've played it at every concert since it was written, I guess the "wow" factor has been diminished. I love the song for what it is. Reminds me of when I was 13 all over again. Good times!

The original bassline is as follow: Tuning: D# G# C# F# (down 1/2 step) Original first 2 chorus bars (descending): 5xxx - x8 -> G# * 2xxx - x4 -> F * * 0xxx - x4 -> Eb * * * What Scott's playing (following guitar's ascending roots): 5xxx - x8 -> G# x5xx - x4 -> C# x7xx - x4 -> Eb * - The G# correlates with the guitar chord. Straightforward. * * - Then it takes a "Sharp" harmonic turn. The F is interesting as the guitar is playing a C# where F is the III of a major C#, essentially creating the sound of an inversion with the 3rd as the root note. * * * - Then the bass descends to Eb along with the guitar, being an octave lower and giving a lot of punch.
