On April 18, 2002, Matt Sharp sued Weezer claiming he continued to participate in the "Weezer partnership" after his departure from the band in 1998. His lawsuit sought a redress of fiduciary duty, accused the band of legal malpractice, and sought a dissolution of partnership, declaratory relief and accounting under the copyright act. In layman's terms, he wanted an audit of Weezer's royalty payments to Sharp, a redrafting of Sharp's royalties on the contested songs, and an official settlement of his role in Weezer. Sharp said that Cuomo sought Sharp's advice for some green album songs, and also helped in a similar way with a few others, like the song "American Girls." Anyways, "Private Message" is just average demo from the Album 5 days, in my opinion.
