Sign me up RIGHT NOW for that 2026 Pinkerton tour. I am alive because Rivers wrote that album. I will be a screaming and crying 50 year old man, but i WILL be there.
@@QLSProducerThere is no hyperbole or exaggeration. In 1997, I had a noose tied and I was ready to end my life. My love life was in shambles, I failed out of college, nobody loved me, and I was completely alone. But there was something about Pinkerton. I bought it the day it came out, because of my love for Blue Album, and there was something about it that I couldn’t shake. I had just gotten a guitar as well, and was trying to learn how to play it. But Pinkerton… man. Talk about emotions and heartbreak and frustration and aggravation and isolation. Then it clicked. THIS is how you deal with those feelings. You don’t hang yourself in your basement. You take those emotions, and you get them out. You learn some chords, you write some words, you scream and shout and exorcise those demons. In those 35 minutes, Rivers Cuomo saved my life. Period. End of statement. If Pinkerton had never been released, I would not be alive. My children would not exist, and the world would be a significantly darker place without them. The amount of gratitude I have for Weezer as a band, or Rivers as a songwriter, can not be fully stated. I’ll never be able to fully explain how much Pinkerton means. I’ve only seen 3 of its songs live in my 8 Weezer concerts, but there will be nobody else anticipating 2026 and a Pinkerton tour more than this 47 year old. Nobody.
Rivers' face when Questlove was talking about being 8-years old grabbing a soda in the hotel and KISS coming out of the elevator! Hahahah....dude was really shocked

I still have my Weezer Blue album cd ❤ still love it all these years later… so good to see them still going strong and making good music for the new generation ❤
Overall I think it was a pretty cool interview. The guys in Weezer seem to be pretty subdued and mellow. It’s interesting. I think of Weezer and their experience the same way I think of the band Living Colour. Both bands did not expect their first albums to yield a monster hit single and to really sell well And both bands had to deal with semi instant success. One band dealt with it well and well the other band did not. And both bands ended up losing their original bass players. overall I dug the interview. I’ve listened to a lot of your interviews. one thing I will suggest, try if possible to shorten your questions. I Know you know a lot about music and a lot about the bands you are interviewing, but I want to hear more from the artist and maybe a little less from the person asking the questions. That is not a knock, I appreciate your, love all different types of music and I’ve been a fan of the roots for years. Just a critical feedback.
This is genuinely one of the most consistently interesting podcasts out there. I hope the crew / hosts / guests know how much these conversations are appreciated.
Saw them in 94 in NYC. All I remember what CMJ said was that they were the 90s beach boys. I like the beach boys so I went to see them and was just blown away. Saw them again 7yrs later at UCSD in San Diego, and what difference in the attendance 7yrs later.
Those were great days, when a review/clip comparison could introduce music that way. How cool. Three decades later, do you agree on The Beach Boys nod?
As a drummer & music pundit I can beat describe ?love as a brilliant drummer & dude. Both Questlove & Weezer acknowledge that THE greatest music genius ever is Brian Wilson. Period. 🇺🇲🎼
It's so awesome to hear their reflections on Pinkerton and the 2000-2001 time period. My friends and I were all from that "second generation" and used to talk about Pinkerton vs. Blue. Saw them the first time during the Maladroit tour and all of us were hoping they'd play something from Pinkerton. Was a super fascinating time period as Rivers kept leaking demos for upcoming releases and Songs From The Black Hole was still a myth of sorts.
If this podcast was just Quest without these other guys as part of the podcast this would be a million times better. Drop them please. They provide zero to this. Honestly, they’re just there. Keep as just Quest and the guest honestly. Please. I doubt this will change this is just me saying what I think they should do. So I’m ready for many comments telling me no these other guys are great for the show! That’s fine. I stand by what I said, and I know Quest wont see this and change the format off my comment haha. But I just wanted to speak my feelings. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
The reason we love Weezer is because they aren NOT like Green Day or the Foo Fighters. I understand they see the mass appeal of those bands and feel a bit jealous but the more artistic music gets the smaller the audience gets, that's life. We love Weezer and Radiohead just the way they are, anti hero rock stars.
