When anyone asks me about what a Wegmans is like, the first thing I say is, "So, you know how some upscale supermarkets have like 50 different types of cheese for sale? Well Wegmans has 50 different types of blue cheese for sale."
Wegmans started in upstate New York, and was local up there for a long time. But now there are Wegmans on the east coast from Massachusetts down through Virginia and into North Carolina. I'm in New Jersey and we have quite a few of them. Best supermarket I've ever been to. Great produce, including sourcing from local farmers when they can. Lots of organic stuff. Fantastic in-store bakery. Wide variety in groceries. People who work in the store are super helpful and pleasant. Great supermarket.
I have never been to a Wegman's, never even seen one, I've heard nothing but good things about it, loved this video because my area will open one next year and another one is planned. I can't wait! Wegmans is considered the best grocery store chain in the US, with Publix right behind. There's a Publix about 6 miles away & it's really nice, but it's a little too high for my budget. Hope the prices are better at Wegmans.
I was introduced to Wegman's when I took my son to start college in Rochester New York. Also discovered Border's on the first trip up, but that's a different story. Got a Wegman's store card on that first trip. When the first Wegman's store in my area opened I was already familiar with the store and shopped quickly. When I handed the cashier my Wegman's card, she looked at, looked at me, looked at the card and then said "Is this real? Wegman's cards don't look like this." I told her to scan it and to her surprise, sure enough it was real. Of course that led to a conversation, told her when I got the card (1989). I said, I figured that I may very well have been the first person in Maryland to have a Wegman's card. the only problem I have with Wegman's is that I always manage to spend too much when I shop there, partly because some items they carry, that I can't find else where, I will stock up because I live almost 9 miles from the store. For me, it is definitely a destination shopping place.
Thanks for uploading this! I was trying to explain Wegmans to my girlfriend whose lived in NM her whole life to hype her up for our trip to my home to visit Wegmans...I mean, my parents....
Seems like an upscale version of schwegmans, even the name is familiar. It was merely one of the very first quote"super stores which unfortunately died in 1995. To 1997.
My little sister worked at that wegmans and is still employed by them. If any of you come to Rochester NY there is wegmans all over. It is definitely the best store hands down. Alec Baldwin's mom won't move to the west coast cause she doesn't want to not have a wegmans!!! Thanks for sharing a great video!!!!
Omygawd! I lived in SA Texas at one time and thought HEB was the best grocery store I’d ever been to. But this store looks epic. And like it sets standards. Any thoughts?
thank you so much for making this video! i hope to be working at one near my house soon and am very excited😁 any advice for the interview process would be very appreciated!
I went here on my visit from the UK I couldn't believe how many different types of ice-cream were there. Great cheese selection which is rare in the US. No black pudding in the meat section, it's probably not a thing in USA
Is that the same as blood sausage? I tried that once as a kid...I still remember that miserable taste over thirty years later 😂. Our Wegmans has a "British foods" section...real Cadbury chocolate and thankfully no blood sausage!
Hi Juju, my name is Matt and i am a professor in South Korea in consumer behavior. I am currently writing a textbook on customer service and using Wegman's as a model case. May I use parts of your video as the reference photos in the textbook? I will of course cite your channel.
I moved from NY to TX and everyone thought HEB was the best because they had never been to Wegmans. Now I live in Japan and nothing even comes close 😭😭 P. S. Is that a Newark N on your hat?? :)
Why did you pick such irritating music? Otherwise, this is great, a little slice of home from Berlin, Germany where supermarkets are closed on Sundays and public holidays. (Annoying.)
I travel all around this country for work and will tell you that there's a big difference when you get inside a Wegmans. You have to wonder why everyone who's been to one totally hypes it up but you never hear people hype up a Publix or Giant Eagle. This is also not even close to the only video on RU-vid of a Wegmans employee claiming their love of Wegmans.
Wegmans is a cult. They threaten their employees if they gather into a Union but they fire people based on lies hence the whole purpose of having a Union.
the assholes lied about me fuck the managers they stick together back each others lies the one manager rachael who now works lyell ave goes around talking about her bondage exploits in the bedroom the tells me that i shouldnt say things she thinks is wrong
Most overrated store I’ve ever been in. Too big, high prices, unimpressive meat and seafood departments, fresh greens in produce look half dead, and the help looks like they’re in a country club rather than a fast paced working environment (wouldn’t last at Shop Rite, Foodtown, etc).
It's weird. The store is very large, but it looks extremely dated. Wondering how such a dated and badly designed store can stay in business. It seems to attract mainly low income people.
It's not badly designed or dated. And that's just how people in Upstate New York dress, like sweatpants in public are totally acceptable there. Trust, Wegmans isn't attracting "mostly low-income people." It's the most expensive grocery store in the region. And it's a Fortune 500 Best Company to Work For. Do your homework, especially before bashing Wegmans.
