Hi there, holden colorados from factory sit lower at the front than the rear. When setting up this kit in this situation, do we aim for level vehicle height or restoring the forward leaning factory stance?
One question after mounting the tow ball head and tightened the bolts, should the ball head move?As in mine there is a little bit of play and have been told two different things one says the play is because the holes for the bolts is a fraction larger than the bolts others say should be no movement in the ball head.
Hi x ym, Provided the two M19 ball mount head bolts have been tightened to the correct torque (190Nm as per the fitting instructions) than any movement of the ball mount head on the drop shank, when there is no load being applied from the springbars, is common and usually normal. Once the springbar tension is applied the head will not move and the loads will be carried through all the components correctly. If in doubt please have a Hayman Reese Weight Distribution Hitch specialist inspect the WDH set up. Thanks for your comment
Hi guys, just a quick question as there are plenty of self appointed experts out there and I've had various opinions. Do you recommend the likes of a friction grease on the bars at the hitch end. I have heard plenty of squeaks from hitches as the tow vehicle manouvers. Same question about grease on the towball. Cheers and thanks. Stu
Hi Stu, No, we do not recommend the use of grease as it does collect dirt and become abrasive. We have better long-term results without when it comes to wear unless very regular removed and reapplied.
Hi Joshua, The cam washer is used for adjusting the angle of the spring bars to gain or lessen the amount of chain links you have. You wouldn't use the cam washer to adjust the ball height. This is covered at 5:40 in the video. Thanks
Hey guys I'm surprised there's no comments on this video for two years. Near the very end you mentioned to disconnect the bars before backing up. Does that not then produce the unbalanced between the trailer and the total vehicle you were trying to avoid in the first place.? I know backing up is not very far but the unbalanced should still be an issue is it not?
Hi 2bikemike, Thanks for your comment. By disconnecting the Weight Distribution bars when reversing you avoid the risk of impact to the low hanging spring bars which is critical to the life of the bars. Hope this answers your question. If you have any futher questions please feel free to give us a call 1800 812 017 Cheers.
Hi Steve, Thanks for your question. You will need to use a bolt with a minimum grade of 8.8 for this. If you have any further questions, feel free to give us a call on 1800 812 017 or email enquiries@cequent.com.au Thanks!
