@@gopichinnam8980 Yes the world record was disqualified. The 94 kg world records were 188 kg snatch and 412 kg total by Akakios Kakiasvilis, which he did in 1999. The clean & jerk world record was 233 kg by Szymon Kołecki, which he did in 2000. They have all been broken by Sohrab Moradi with 189 kg snatch, 233 kg clean & jerk and 417 kg total in 2017 and 2018.
It is worth remembering they can’t get too technical for gen pop, if they start talking about clean to front squat efficiency or the technical breakdowns on the split jerk vs the squat jerk, most would lose interest
Saeed Mohammadpour from Iran was declared gold medal winner after several lifters were tested positive. 26:13.... 32:42... 42:38.. 1:07:35.. 1:20:55.... 1:30:22
the three original medalists, were disqualified after their 2012 samples were retested and found to be positive for the presence of performance-enhancing drugs. Thus, Saeid Mohammadpour of Iran, who had originally finished fifth, was declared the 2012 Olympic champion
Given how many lifters got popped for these Olympic games, it's hard to say if Ilya was really stronger than all of them, or he had other advantages. It's incredible how easily he makes those weights. All the other athletes are visibly struggling and Ilya looks like he has at least 10kg in reserve on every lift.
One of iliyas greatest performances, truly insane numbers! Such a shame IWF politics turned against team Astana and they were banned, with a 246 in 2014 he was on track for some truly golden era numbers to rival the Bulgarians and soviets
This is, without a doubt, one of the finest competitions in weightlifting history - and it’s also the most beleaguered with doping disqualifications. What does that tell you?
The top 4 from this event have all tested positive... so the gold medalist is the Iranian who had originally gotten 5 th lol. The Polish guy who came in 9th won the bronze, and the Korean in 8th won the silver
In weightlifting retroactive bans aren’t worth considering as they are all on drugs, he may have had the medal taken away but he is still the 2021 olympic champ as far as most are concerned
Top four competitors ended up being disqualified for drug use. Really a shame that every single one of the top competitors is on something. The Iranian ended up winning gold.
do you acutally believe someone is able to clean and jerk 219kg natural at 94kg? Dude wake up, they are all on drugs. The dosages does vary between the competitors, but they are ALL on drugs. They are world class atheletes and everyone is looking for an edge. Winning is everything for these guys.
