15:11 I take it that the Vault OS guy was the inspiration for Jagged Alliance 2's 'Calvin Barkmore', the "eccentric" miner foreman who tries to hire your band of mercenaries to take over Canada?
Not just that, but his running joke when he was still living in Australia was him building his own vault/survival bunker for when Australia went to hell, which is where the OS comes in (he had enough of the country and moved back to the US eventually). And yeah, he's not Aussie but American. The military background joke in JA2 is related to his claims of having served in the US military and being experimented on resulting in him having an invincible metal skeleton ala Wolverine which is also somehow tied to his other running joke of not being homo sapien but one of the last living Neanderthals.
My man, love the videos. Petite suggestion: If possible and it doesn't encumber you too much, please put the ost used in videos in the description. I sometimes go crazy looking for music used, but I can see how it can be a bother. Good content otherwise, superb even. Keep up educating western normies in the necromanial gaming culture of the Eastern Europeans.
Given he's a man of culture, I imagine he borrows a few but creates the rest himself using the same style. Some are just too specific, even if there are loads out there... ...only one thing to really be scared of: 'He who fights with wojaki might take care lest he thereby become a wojak. And if you gaze for long into a wojak, the wojak gazes also into you.' - some old German dude, probably
Dear Slavic Warlock human male, you totally should do Disco Elysium ASAP. Not because it's a great game, but because of being a millennial from a post-soviet country, I am too (PL, so post-communist soviet influenced, not a part of the union, oficially), and this game emanates exactly this vibes, the ones of growing up in a transformation, in a country that failed both ideologically and economically. Playing Disco Elysium was like going back to the 90s, when I grew up in a workers housing district, between a huge pile of coal, a coal plant, steel and aluminium mill, and a landfill full of trash and broken machinery. Playing DE as a Slav added another dimension to it all, if only they'd added to Martinaise Infinity engine games, Wizardry, Might&Magic, Daggerfall, and later Morrowind and Gothic, I could stay there, and it'd be exactly like growing up, even the fact that cops were too scared to come to our block was there, although we had no Hardie Boys, only *Gopnik Anarchy*. Pls, do DISCO ELYSIUM, let's boldly go, where we both went before. Oh, and maybe some NWN or Tyranny or something?
1:41 Speaking of, would you ever consider doing a video on Disco Elysium? I know it's a lot more modern than your usual fare and also something most people know, but I'd love to hear what _you_ have to say on it.
Would love to see a video about some mods for the original Deus Ex. There's quite a few good ones and the community is still fairly active with the Nameless Mod recently getting a full 2.0 release where they improved on virtually everything the original mod did well. Love your videos and hope you are well in life!
I tried playing Nameless Mod maybe ten years ago, but didn't really get far. I had a similar experience to Ross (from Accursed Farms) in that it felt like I was playing a game that wasn't made for anyone besides the online community surrounding it. Assuming you aren't one of those folks, did you find it satisfying?
I was never a part of any wider internet community around the game and I still had a good time when I played it back in the day. There are definitely some strange easter egg type things that people who were part of those communities would appreciate more than some, I never felt like stuff like that took any enjoyment from the game other than the occasional "well, that was strange" moment, which I always expect a few of those when playing a mod anyway. I think the story, while it can be a bit silly at first, is engaging enough to stick with and when it starts to take itself a bit more seriously there's actually quite a lot of depth to appreciate. Ultimately though I think they really nailed the gameplay because it scratched that itch i wanted of more Deus Ex without playing the original for the 20th time, and added enough unique features and qol improvements to feel like it's own game while still having everything I loved about the original. They nail the emergent gameplay and some of the level design rivals the original and there is always a few ways to complete every objective. All in all I think it's worth your time if you enjoy the gameplay of the original even if you want to ignore the story and the surprising amount of lore that's available for the world the mod is based in.
Y'know what, maybe you're right and I need to give it another go. Being a 19 year old shitlord when it came out probably didn't help my critical perception of it. If nothing else, it's an excuse to reinstall the original and that's always a good thing, so thanks for that!
very surprised only one other comment mentions 7:32 being an extremely direct reference to mad max 2, the name humungus and the truck full of sand and everything. you'd think more viewers into fallout woulda caught it. fantastic video as always, by the way.
@@Warlockracy well you do draw a lot of them so the point still stands, plus I've already told you how great the other parts of your videos are many times so I don't wanna reiterate all that jazz. But this got me thinking, you ever plan on doing reviews on other Slavic rpgs? I remember an old classic called Spells of Gold which had an English translation you might find interesting
I wonder if youre gonna do a video on Operation Flashpoint since Reforger got released. Also its the only game that takes place in 80s doesnt use synthwave nor zoomer 80s vibe to it.
So there was this heavily hyped mod for Fallout 2, Mutants Rising, that has been nearly out for like 20 years now. Maybe there's enough content to dig up on that to make a video?
I love the way you narrate through those games. Your painted characters contribute much to these vibes. Somehow gives me Doomer vibes, but i'm not into meme culture this much.. whatever. Algo
Fun fact! When there are animated face portraits, they were actually lovingly made life size by claymation in the studio, then they took photos of different expressions and cycled them to make them speak. Was always cool to know
It’s kinda disappointing that the mod author was never hired to do more mapping for other FO2 projects because he seems to be a natural at making new assets with the existing FO2 assets and placing them in a way that they seem natural. Also as many have agreed the combat in FO2 is one of the game’s strongest points and no it is not up for debate.
I feel like everything surrounding the combat (making a build, getting items and stuff) is cool. The actual doing of the combat is hit or miss imo This is not up for debate /s
Not really. Most groups of enemies consist of clones with the same stats and equipment and the limb system becomes irrelevant once you are good enough to consistently hit enemies in the eyes.
@@dskdevI feel that, the combat is a weak point imo, but if they'd gone with a wasteland style multiple characters take their turn at once or speeding up the turns like more modern games it would've been a lot more enjoyable. I think that's one of the only real issues with it, getting into a big fight takes sooo long
0:47 That dude Grzegorz Halama, legendary polish comedian, icon of absurd comedy mid 90' till almost 2010, still commonly recognised face (gl forgetting that face xD) in Poland, still in business...
Awesome video. I'd be curious if you would consider reviewing Deus Ex: Invisible War. While it has a lot to critique, it's interesting to try and understand some of the decisions made, especially from a narrative perspective.
I remember there being shitloads of hype for it during development, including a really, really stupid PC Gamer magazine cover with someone trying to be J.C., dual-wielding FN-P90s. The game didn't have a single P90, and J.C. is barely even in the game. The game does need more coverage, though; seems to be the least discussed of the mainline games, in terms of in-depth analysis and review.
@@tivvy2vs21 always liked i-war, there isn't a bad game in the series, really. the second half of invisible war's story is much much better, and i liked all of the factions and endings. small levels and stripped down rpg mechanics robbed it of a lot of what fans were looking for.
As a Pole I'm pissing myself laughing from looking at Grzegorz Halama on the thumbnail. He used to be a famous comedian in early 2000's here. No idea what's up with him right now, but you just reminded me of that.
So, a quick afterthoughts I've got after watching the vid: 1) I need a full blown episode about Cleveland Mark Blakemore and his games (or just about Grimoire) in my life and I'm willing to wait for it (at least until WW3) 2) I still don't get how exactly Grzegorz Halama became a face of that second mod. Is Halama's comedy big enough in the russosphere to validate recognition? Is the mod's creator a Pole in disguise, given that the Russian version "feels like a translation"? Or was it just a pure coincidence and there's absolutely no story behind it?
Metro Exodus is the only other Train Pilled post apocalypse game I can think of, I also think that Snowpiercer show/movie would make a good Adventure game.
Yeah I disagree with the view of V13's creator on combat too. Generally speaking I'd argue that the combat in Fallout 1 and 2 was great, the biggest downside being the slow animations with many combatants but with Sfall that isn't an issue.
This mod was really funny actually, I’m sure your editing and storytelling helped a lot but lines like how “I have 18 skills and none of them are useful” crack me up. Shit the sky tax is so ludicrous is great for a game that clearly isn’t trying to be serious. Wasteland got talent and the fact you meet the winner of the last season’s show with a Lamborghini was just some of the humor that made this mod. Absurdist humor and deadpan goofiness just works so well
10:15 "...a bunch of red dead shirts..." I don't know what I expected to see when I looked over from cutting up a pineapple but it had something to do with cowboys. Lawl.
