I’ve got an Olympus em1X with “live view boost” it’s basically bright monitoring but with autofocus. Super useful when using a manual only flash in a studio
In regards to cancelling the timer on every SLR and mirrorless camera I've had I just shut the camera off and turn it back on again. Regardless of its started taking the photo or not. They come back on so fast and remember your settings that seems to work fine for me. Interesting you can cancel is 'properly' on the A7 though.
I don't believe that's the case, at least not on the A7III The 14 bit raw is the uncompressed whilst the compressed is 12 bit I've done shots in bulb set to uncompressed raw and the files come out as 14bit files with the standard 48MB file size of the A7III
It's actually not bad once you've got it set up - I rarely go into the full menu these days, I can make all my changes from the custom buttons and the quick menu. In fact I find now when I pick up my old Canon cameras I just cant find the options I need
I tried aperture drive in autofocus on my A7Riii, but with my lenses this option is greyed out and when I do try this I get a message "invalid with this lens". The lenses I tried this with are two Sigma lenses and one Tamron lens. So perhaps this only works with Sony lenses.
Under *8 in this list is a link to see compatible lenses. support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/support/ilc/products/ilce9/continuousshooting/en/index.html?id=pdt I suspect the default mode is "Silent" as my 85/1.8 stays closed up when trying to focus.
another hidden gem is if you have iso set to change on the wheel at the back of the camera its the only time you can change iso and keep the meter and histogram still on the screen at the same time
Well that explains it. Recently hung my A99ii upside down for some shots and was baffled when they were all right side up when I loaded them in post. Cancelling the timer also applies to my camera and Bulb mode. Bright monitoring is there too. Not sure if I'll ever use it.
Nice video! Curious if you are tempted to upgrade at all, perhaps looking forward to the illusive A74? I sold my A7III after it had the shutter fixed (not for that reason) and after going back to the gen1 A7 for a while I saved up for an A9. I'm super happy with this as I liked to shoot the A7III in silent mode but didn't like the rolling shutter. I noticed the AF and viewfinder being nicer too. The burst speed is fun but since I mostly use Sigma lenses it's capped at 10fps anyway, but that doesn't bother me much.
I have considered changing bodies a couple of times Considered getting an RIII for the extra resolution or perhaps an original A9 for the speed But always come to the same conclusion that I can't justify the price for what I'd gain given what I use the camera for. The A7IV will be a very tempting camera but I suspect I'll still be in the same situation
