Some other rituals the players do, Chris Paul right before tipoff always goes to the padding underneath the basket and hits his back on it, also Steph Curry right before tipoff always does a full on spirit to that padding right under the basket as well, I guess for both it’s to help losen their body up to give them more mobility and just feel loose and flowing with motion during the games
I know this wasn't a part of the video, but Larry Birds free throw ritual was unique. He wouldn't step inside the circle until the referee was bouncing the ball to him.
This type of stuff is real. I had a technique in middle school gym where I performed a specific rotation of ball spins and flips before serving the volleyball. I was the best server and was very consistent. I think it also had a psychological effect on the is opposing team as well. If I messed up the rotation, I would start over. To be fair I have no reason where the mildly elaborate routine came from, but when that first server landed just inside the back line, after passing 1-2 inches over the net; I knew I had a system. I just kept repeating it.
How do you take 5 showers? Do you just go through the washing ritual 5 times with the water continuously running or stop and space them out over a short period of time?
My darling wife deals with actual, clinical OCD (not "internet OCD"). She overheard this video and said "a few of those ticks sound like those guys have some unrecognized compulsions. Especially Jimmy (she meant Caron) Butler."
Coming from someone who gets migraines nearly every single day along with a bevy of other health/emotional problems, if the worst 2 weeks of your life were caffeine withdrawals consisting of headaches and sweats, you must have a pretty damn good life.
