Lol, personally, what gave the game away for me was wen they casted Daniel as Al XD i KNEW it would b a semi-parody movie coz Daniel is famously short whereas Al is famously tall lol still a great movie that gave me a solid 6 pack from laughter at the end 😛
He broke my brain after he said that and then I shared it with my husband and broke his too. Relationships are 100/100. You sound like you've never even bothered to listen to Ay-mish paradise. We'll be singing this forever as we leave for the grocery store.
If anyone has ever watched UHF, the first movie Weird Al has actually done, you would know the level of parody and comedy he puts into anything he makes while making it clear none of it is to be taken seriously. Also, Weird Al has lasted longer in the music industry than most people and bands have.
@@db_cooks it was on tubi fir a bit last month, but in the LEAVING SOON category...I just Google a movie name and STREAM and my GOD I've seen so much crap I never thought I'd even watch lol... Or, we can become friends and I can lend u my VHS recorded copy of UHF 🤣
I watched UHF too any times :), and the amount of people in it who went on to bigger things from it, like fran drescher amazes me still. And yes even after watching him as a teenager on videos, still is as good as ever, even better .
She shot like 30 times and never came close, nor did AL flinch for a split second even once lol....in fact, it seemed like he walked SLOWER with every shot
@@masterrserch3971 the whole movie was funny and weird, i loved it , but that scene and the dad beating up the sales man stood out the most for me as so over the top i couldnt stop laughing
@@lanewhittington HAHAHAHA true that! that whole damn scene was pure God, who ever they got to play Pablo was funny, HEY BAND GUYS! SHUT UP!! shoots them away. WE ARE TYING TO HAVE A CONVERSATION. bam bam bam, the look Madonna was giving while tide up was so funny , NO I DONT WANT CAKE!!
It wasn't all real? How scence can it be the Weird Al's Eat it is the original and Michael Jackson's Beat it is thr parody?! How is it possible that no one know what a factory creates?! Why would Madonna like to manage a drugs cartel?! How is it possible that he was murdered at the end of the movie, but still alive at the reality?!
There were a couple of moments that were true to life: Al did record his first song in a bathroom, and Jon Bermuda Schwartz did provide the drums on Al's accordion case for Another One Rides the Bus. And yes, Al had a symbiotic relationship with Dr. Demento. Speaking of Dr. D, that was another bit of truth in the movie: when the Good Doctor said he recognized talent in Nervous Norvis there's a story there: as a college radio DJ Dr. D played Nervous Norvis' song "Transfusion" and someone walked in and said, "You'd have to be demented to play a song like that!" And that's how he got his stage name.
It's true that Al got his first accordion from a travelling salesman (who was not beaten up) and that he recorded his first song in a public bathroom. But everyone is wrong about the lead actor: it's actually Harry Potter, the talented British actor who played the famous character Daniel Radcliffe.
Tell me you didn't bother listening to the songs before you tried to pronounce them without telling me you didn't listen to the songs before trying to pronounce them.
1:16 you said 'Weird Al saw the short and loved it so much he started showing it at his concerts', while you showed him LITERALLY IN THE SHORT! He didn't have to see it! He was in the damn thing!
Daniel Radcliffe, as an actor surprises me as he ages. He has a natural talent and I didn't know it was him after watching the movie!!. He captures Al's projected persona perfectly. And his commitment to his role shows in the results. Going to be following Daniel a little more closely now, as people who star in Weird Al movies tend to go onto bigger things
The song isn't Oscar eligible because "it hasn't had a theatrical release"? I saw it in a sold-out theater. They gave everyone in the audience a Hawaiian shirt and a Weird Al wig & mustache. Are you certain that limited, small-scale screenings don't count towards Academy Awards eligibility?
@@geoffgunn9673 Al actually did an interview saying Roku will not put this up for Oscar eligibility because they are "in the TV business not the movie business... so maybe an Emmy!"
Typos on screen, mispronunciations all over the place... What the hell is going on here? Does screen crush not require at least a GED to become a writer and producer?
I've heard multiple references to Bohemian Rhapsody in this video. But every time I hear the narrator say it as "RASPODY" instead of RHAPSODY. Am I hearing that wrong, or is this guy truly having trouble with that word? Listen here: 7:20
But Al died in 1985. Marty was sent to the future to bring Daniel Radcliffe to the past. It’s been an endless loop that the ALuminati doesn’t want us to know the truth about 😂😂
"...which you probably recognize from - let me check my notes - every music biopic you've ever seen..." Well played, sir! (no sarcasm; completely genuine)
Weird Al was massive in the ‘80s and ‘90s, and I permanent fixture of my childhood. From his ‘80s parodies ‘Eat It’, ‘Like a Surgeon’, and ‘Fat’, to his ‘90s essentials ‘Smells Like Nirvana’ and ‘Amish Paradise’, and even beyond with hits like ‘White and Nerdy’…it’s as if the guy’s career has never had a lull! His movie ‘UHF’ is also required viewing for any fan of parody comedy.
Drinking game idea: Take a shot every time he says "Raspity" instead of "Rhapsody" Take a shot when he says "Aim-ish" instead of "Amish" Take a shot each time he says "notorious Columbian drug lord and Narco terrorist Pablo Escobar" Congratulations! You now have alcohol poisoning!
"Aim-ish"? Come on man, even the song says "Ahm-ish". Did you really need to repeat "notorious terrorist Pablo Escobar" three times? As for the film, I did not expect to find this an instant hit IMO. Having Daniel play him was not someone I would have recommended, but it works perfectly. Everything in this comedy is a parody of reality and Al's life. There are some elements of truth from his past mixed in, though bent in a "weird" way, as expected. Characters are total opposites of their real life personas, situations exaggerated to great heights, logic out the window, etc. But it is the underlying parody element of famous movie scenes that make this a step up in Al's comedic styling. It's one thing to parody songs, but to do a Zucker Brothers or Walk Hard approach in selecting well-known scenes from classic films, then making them part of the story with crazy dialog, though still staying truthful to the original scene emotions and acting (even with nearly the same music), is a stroke of genius. You feel the recognition of the scene, and can see it in your mind with the original actors (like Robert De Niro), but unless you know those movies by heart, it's difficult to remember what film the scene comes from. You just know it, which causes laughs at the absurdity of parody to that particular segment. Another amazing element was the incorporation of song lyrics into the dialog and using his various songs for story parts, like his father being Amish and creating the great "Amish Paradise" tune. It was also fun to see the various actor cameos playing famous movie personalities. Like Emo Philips as Salvador Dali, Conan O'Brien as Andy Warhol and Jack Black as Wolfman Jack. They were all perfect. I highly recommend this, even if you are not a huge fan of Al.
The unexaggerated true story about the greatest musician of our time. Hello fellow Year of The Boat 1983 Weird Al fan, lol. I literally cannot remember not loving Al, lol. Funny story, my sister has long dark curly hair and got to meet him backstage at a concert, he took one look at her and asked her where her mother lived before she was born, lol.
This video is like watching my grandmother try to explain video games in the 90's to other grandparents who have no idea what they are. Pretty obvious this was quickly researched and slapped together to get those sweet adsense.
Aaron Paul was going to be the heckler. Patton Oswalt was going to play Dr. Demento but broke his foot right before filming. He played the heckler instead.
Well years ago here on RU-vid, I watched a documentary from 1999. It seems like someone recorded from a VCR and uploaded it to RU-vid. Obviously that documentary was about weird Al and it’s more accurate having interviewed him in that documentary
Also, I forgot to mention that the backup guitarist, for the band Queen, known as Brian May, actually, did appear in the movie, as himself, didn't know that did you?
@@rhoetusochten4211 right? Not to mention when they talked about the trailer that inspired the movie they say “weird Al saw it and loved it so much he played it before his shows” ok that may be true but…when the dialogue says that part….it literally has al’s cameo as the music executive in the original on screen….did the writer not look into any of this before this video was completed?
Actually, if you listen to "Jerry Springer" and, "Will that big Slim Shady, please shut up," Weird Al actually did curse, on set actually, yeah, sorry to tell you this, but he did.
Ok Screen Rant, i hate to b THAT guy, but y'all need to have a word with this host! I mean, Bohemian RASPODY??? AY-mish Paradise??? 😕Last i checked it was Bohemian Rapsody and AH-mish Paradise.... cmon man, its the little things yknow? Edit: DAAAYUM!!! 4 TIMES (maybe 5)... RAP-SODY! Bohemian RAP-SODY! 😢Freddie b roling rn
Damn, to think Madonna hooked up with Weird Al would've made the slightest sense since not many know during the 90's she had a brief stint with Dennis Rodman and even 2Pac .. lol
If they don’t release an equally off the wall „making of„ or „directors commentary“. Or a „deleted scenes„ that have nothing to do with the movie I’ll be crushed.
