And it very well could be the PCV, however a tear in the oil filter creates a vacuum leak that makes a similar noise. For me, the noise and rough idling never came back all these months later
I have the same car and the same engine and is doing the same noise and when the noise appears start to idle rough, what can it be? It happen mostly when im at a red light
@@tractioncontroldelete i think it can be, my car it’s actually misfiring because of a timing solenoid but now it’s doing that weird noise and like i said it just happen when im at a red light, whenever i turn it off and start it again it goes
@@tractioncontroldeleteyes, when the noise start the engine begins to idle rough like its about to shut down when it’s stopped, and the noise doesn’t increase with rpms its steady, because like i said it only happens when im at a stop sign or at a red light, if i stay a couple seconds with the car completely stopped the noise begins and start to idle rough
mine is doing the same noise but it’s constant. gets louder when accelerating n car rough idles when slowing down n stopping🤦🏽♀️ a mechanic said it’s my battery, i changed it, but it’s still doing it. n now i jus wanna check for myself cs i don’t think mechanics know what they’re doing these days 🤦🏽♀️
@@dolo_kaayy At a minimum, you can try my fix. If that doesn’t work then I bet it’s the PCV/CCV. The systems support it being the latter but that job is more involved. With that being said, BMW issued a recall on some cars with this issue so they may cover the parts and install if your car is one of them. Call your local dealership and give them you VIN to see if it applies before anything. Btw that mechanic sounds like he gave you bad advice - your description of the symptoms don’t support that assessment
@@dolo_kaayy open the engine bay with the car parked and on. See if you can hear sounds coming from that area. Have some one rev the car while you listen to localize the sound
@@tractioncontroldeletei took a closer listen, and it sounds like it’s all over the engine bay😭 my belts already were squeaking but it was literally such a faint sound so there wasn’t really an issue with that but idk if it’s gotten worse now
@@alansolomon2863 To be honest, that sounds like the PCV/CCV because it’s only presenting when on the gas. The sound mixed with the occurrence only on accelerator suggests a likely failure. Check you VIN with BMW because quite a few cars are covered by a recall that could have it replaced for free
I have the some noise on my BMW series 5 2012 but sometimes there is whistling and sometimes everything is fine. The only issue is when I’m driving at very low speed the engine is shut down. I’m really looking forward to do this and I hope no whistling anymore Thnx bro 😎
Thanks, just got a 1series and I have this issue already haha. Will report back in the morning and lyk if this works. However it doesn’t start during warm up but starts fresh off the highway when I’m in a low gear and low rpm.
Hi, did the wining sound go away? Experience the same issue just tonight fresh out of the highway then it happened. Especially when I went on idle without AC. Mines as e90 2007 320i.
I am having a same problem but its not constant, the noise suddenly start and the RPM start ideling, after turning off the car and then turn back on, everyhing works fine, P0015 code comes up too. Will this fix the issue?
@@danieldekeyser6477 if it’s about to die then I think you should turn your attention to the PCV/CCV. Damage to the bladder, improper opening/closing, and/or aging can cause it to fail which would result in the squealing with rough idling where it’s about to die. Reach out on IG if you was to get more into it - it’d be helpful if you could send me a video of what’s going on
@@Brandoncoopper that’s a fair assessment too. Open the hood and see if you can localize the sound. Hit me on IG if you have it. You can send a video so I can hear it too. To the extent it is the PCV then you can look into the warranty because BMW issued a special extension for some vehicles that are even as old as 2006
I have similiar problem. Some days nothing happens, I can drive normally, but suddenly it starts, it is so loud that I cannot stand long next to open hood. After turning off engine, and turning again on, everything is fine. I can drive like a weak without problem and again this happens… can be this one? If i wasnt scammed oil was change 5000 miles ago, so not long ago… or is this more serious like CCV? Im tired this year with my car 😥
@@Wojti11 That’s classic CCV symptoms. Once you do the swap (if you choose to) then I’d suggest installing an oil catch can to make it last longer. Also, please do yourself a favor and check with BMW using your vin to see if your car is covered under the recall. They’ll swap the part and cover expenses if your car happens to be covered. They extended the warranty for this particular issue
hey man I just got sent a fasttrack bill for the bmw for 14$. Can you change the plates so they aren't on me anymore? Mb this is the only way I can contact you. Thank you.
@@tractioncontroldeleteappreciate you for the reply, I recently went to jiffy lube for an oil change and a day after I notice my car idling rough and having this same exact whistling noise plus a check engine light popped up
@@chrixtian223 it’s worth trying being that the part is so cheap and easy to fix. You could have a vacuum leak simply because they didn’t allow the o-ring to seat properly or double the new o-ring on top of the other
Nice, I think I am dealing with the same issue but I am thinking the check engine light and whistling whining sound not come on some times and it’s not there all the time when the car is on. Also noticed a small oil leak under car where oil pay is could be the drain bolt, I just bought this car from reputable dealer and it only had 68k miles
@@billwood4873 the oil leak isn’t necessarily connected to this particular fix because other than the damaged/torn filter, it wouldn’t lead to a leak unless the oil filter housing gasket was causing a leak itself. Otherwise it’s all self contained. Consider looking into the PCV/CCV and locating the leak elsewhere
