In today's video, I check out one of the weirdest cameras that I've ever put my hands on. This camera is none other than the Sony Mavica CD-1000. The thing shoots on CD's!! How cool is that?

I personally know the mavica cameras fairly well and can tell you that even on my first mavica purchase of a 3.2 MP unit, where it's beauty is ,it's not what you see on a monitor, it's when you print that 8x 11 image out in black and white or.color onto glossy photo paper with a competent printer and see quality that would rival a lot of high-end 35mms and you can blow it up even further without losing detail and beat pretty much any other digital camera out on the market that would even have double the MP's.

when pics are so limited on disk and it's so much more difficult and slower to take pictures, the pictures are less disposable and have more feel

Hello Brandon, I know it’s been quite some time since anyone has commented on this video. I found your video very useful. I actually just bought one of these from a local thrift shop with what is essentially original packaging. I did not get the USB cable, but I did get the driver disc that allows you to use the usb cable. If you would be interested in this, comment back and we can set something up so you can get the drivers and test the USB functionality.

Who cares about the clock function or the date function? I've been using digital cameras for almost 20 years and could care less about fiddling with setting up a date or time it's the substance of the photo content and the memories of it that are more important to me. Plus some of us get a kick out of reflecting back to that time and having to actually remember the month or year and having it attached to the photo information takes that reflection away

Announced June 2000. to ship in August 2000 at $1300. I did not get a digicam until Spring 2001 and it was a 2.1 mp Olympus Camedia. The 3 mp was too expensive. Don't review these like they are new camera options for regular use. Did you consider PCs and montors used back then?

Hello from Vorarlberg Austria 😄 🇦🇹 It's like a History Channel for odd technology😅 surprisingly good for an old piece of technology. 😊 Lithium cells just deplete over the years so if you got it a brand new replacement battery it might be different😅 ey surprisingly comment battery type is a pro👍 you actually set the date on your camera😅 are you sure they're not on some archived Sony dedicated fan Club? 🤔 have you tried searching online for the CD with the original driver information? 🤔 jetzt bitte Michelle Meetup Monty the camera they understand why your just know the inconvenience about technology😅 in my opinion is actually part of its charm😊 Kind regards Leopold 🤗

Yes but cd-r's are cheap and can be used foe for archival purposes when sd and hdds might fail

Does this guy even know camera's? Physical media??? If you like blowing your money I guess you can get cdrs for that camera for a buck a piece but you can also pay $15 and get a 50 pack.
