The Irish Guy takes a look at the major European leagues and finds the weirdest league position in each one, including the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Ajax. Business enquiries: irishguybusiness@gmail.com
i'll definitely need a video on Stuttgart from some good channel because Leverkusen (and Bayern's demise) are taking all the headlines, meanwhile they pulled the same as Brest and Girona essentially
@@metro3313 nope ik that,he can't do Porto 2.0,he somehow makes an impact in any team he was in, Roma rn are good cause he left a complete squad before he left
@@maciejbala477i swear bundesliga is fake They just put all of them in a lottery with 100 bayerns in it So most of the time they win it than they do the rest of the league Its so different every year
the Bundesliga top 3 could all count this year since Stuttgart nearly got relegated last season, Bayern got the Harry Kane curse and Leverkusen went Invincible
to put napoli's season into perspective the only team that did worse in the history of italian football was Torino, the season after their entire team and management died in a plane crash
Not exactly, AC Milan had a similar downfall in 1997. 11th place after they won the title. To be fair, you could probably justify it with the fact that they were past ther primes (Baresi was at its last year), and they were no longer the same AC Milan managed by Sacchi and Capello. However, they did bounce back just 2 years later, in 1999, starting a new era that culminated with 2 Champions League wins in the 2000s
yeah, it's because De Laurentiis constantly gets into feuds with managers. He does things well sometimes but then messes it all up because like seemingly all Italian owners, he's temperamental af and basically chased Spalletti out
@@maciejbala477 What is weird is that this still doesn't justify this fall. Napoli has had years like this previously, but didn't start acting like this
@@KhanDoorman.69 obviously yes he is, but he never want's to admit it. He want's to seem neutral but it's obvious at this point that he's a Newcastle fan
Bringing the daily mourinho news to the irish guy Congratulations to jose who found a new club today people. He will be taking over Turkish league Runners up Fenerbahçe He just signed a 2 year deal a few hours ago ( finally understood not to sign 3 year deals) . He has been taken with 2 objectives. Win the league in Turkey. And try to reach the CL last 16 at least. Jose will be in London tomorrow for the CL final as a pundit in bein sports ( i think now it's TNT sport) and he will expand on that new role. So shoutout to him for refusing to go to Saudi and staying in Europe in a league that's not top 5 leagues but is not far behind and very competitive. And Jose will play champions league next season for the first time in years. Lets see what he can do there
I feel like Irish guy hasn't done justice to how mental the ending of the Super Lig was. Galatasaray had won 17 straight going into the second last matchday, a derby against Fenerbahce, where they couldve clinched the league Instead, Fener wins, and stays in contention until the final matchday.
In spite of finishing with 99, the fans were calling for the owners’ and coach’s head for coming second in spite of that amazing result. Mou has his work cut out.
@@P3TER_Official23 Exactly. And they do it now that the Champions League has 4 more spots. It's satisfying to see Bologna and Brest occupying those extra spots
Apart from rare exceptions, managers just seem to have a kind of expiration date. Top managers in one generation can't seem to carry it on for longer than 10/15 years. Mourinho at Fenerbache isn't that much weirder than Benitez at Newcastle or Everton.
12:13 We spent most of our season trying to find a good manager and proper players and when we finally did we somehow became unstoppable. But until then, we were 9 points of the top of the table and the title was pretty much gone.
I´d say relegation playoff winner Stuttgart being 2nd and first time ever Bundesliga side Heidenheim finishing 8th and getting UECL is more of a surprise than Bayern finishing 3rd for once.
About Porto, you do know the current manager is André villas-boas who supposedly angered José after deciding to go solo as a manager. I'd love to see him return to porto but I'm pretty sure they aren't really in the best standards
Bundesliga had so many weird positions UB, Leverkusen, Bayern, Stuttgart all just weird. And Heidenheim kinda could count but meh not as big as the other
Nous sommes les Ty-Zefs! Sauvages et fiers de l'être! Nos chants résonneront comme le Tonnerre de Brest! Brest definitely is the best underdog story in Europe this season and is to me weirder than Lyon finishing 6th. While Lyon's season was weird in itself, them qualifying for Europe is the norm
Turkish super lig maybe adana ds, they have balotelli, nani etc. and concede 6 at home against a relegation club, qualified for europe last season, finished low this season
The explanation for Olympiacos' position is easy, they changed managers twice during the season. That's why in the same European campaign they lost 5-0 to Freiburg and beat Aston Villa 2-4. Different people at the helm
Completely agree with the United assesment, although if you look past the easy carabao cup win they were awful last season aswell and picked up a lot of ugly wins. 8th wasn't that unexpected tbh
Worst part about Napoli was they were actually lucky not to have a mass fire sale, they only sold Kim to Bayern and Lozano to PSV while keeping di Lorenzo, Zielinski, Lobotka, Osimhen, and Kvara.
i don't think Lozano was a starter anyway so it's not a big loss. Kim was necessary because of the release clause, but yeah. Spectacular mess up from the owner, not for the first time (as he also got in a feud with his own players which resulted in Ancelotti's sacking)
Man Utd being crap all season yet morphing into peak 99 Man Utd for one game purely to deny Newcastle European football is the most Newcastle thing that's ever happened to Newcastle.
Why does he hate the Turkish Super Lig so much 😭😭😭. It is honestly an underrated league and has not only produced many talents (from abroad as well) but has had genuinely world class players in the past. Even now World Cup star Livaković, not yet finished Tadić (if you watch him play), Džeko who is one f the most underrated strikers, Icardi not yet finished
(If you watch him play), Ziyech, and plenty other underrated players. They also challenge for both the Europa and Confrence League. They have even had some surprise UCL campaigns in the past.
For Serie A it's Bologna, as we kinda saw Napoli's downfall coming, because what management of this club did after last season was an absolute circus. Meanwhile Bologna in last years you pretty much were watching just to see Skorupski playing 1v21. Meanwhile this season they got European football thanks to discipline and determination (their players still are lacking). Altough few of them should emerge in next few years, Riccardo Calafiori was excellent, Posh could handle even Chiesa and that young Urbanski was better than all three Juve midfielders.
As an olympiakos fan the answer is simple our coaches were really bad and Medilibar took the job around january and turnes this sinking ship to european glory🎉
it's called the Harry Kane curse... they might slip out of top 4 next season now they hired the Vincent bad Kompany as manager, they are really trying to get relegated at this point.
Its hilarious how Irish Guy thinks Olympiakos finishing 3rd while winning the Conference League is weird when Frankfurt finished 11th in the Bundesliga in the 2021/22 season and won the Europa League, Sevilla finished 12th in the 2022/23 La Liga and also won the Europa League and West Ham who finished 14th in the 2022/23 Premier League and won the Conference League Seems like something we’ve already been treated to a few times
1:16 Looking at this image, I think Besiktas not being in the Top 5 is way weirder than Fenerbahce 2nd Like Fener doesn't win the league every season, so why is it surprising at all?
He really cant accept that coaches like conte and jose are done. Their stubborn, unwilling to change style has been long sinced surpassed, and is the reason neither of them have been asked to join a top 10 team. The ugly, defensive football they play which can no longer even work against the best is not a poison clubs want, and are certainly not about to overpay for😂
The most bizarre finish was indeed München. Them finishing outside the top two is already rare enough, then finishing third while Leverkusen win the domestic double unbeaten? Anyone who bet on that at the dawn of the season is now very wealthy. 🤭
