I love me some Demon Slayer, but damn did they do S1 dirty by making DS anime of the year. Hope AoT doesn’t overshadow VS (if it counts given the fact it’s two specials).
Those awards are mostly worthless anyway. Most anime is for children so it will be judged with that in mind. This season will likely not appeal to the 13 year old male demographic anime awards tend to target.
There aren’t really any awards there tho and it’s all based on votes so i doubt Vinland will win lol. Most of those wins usually go to stuff like demon slayers and my hero
Crying even knowing the Manga, the added scenes of Gardar coming home kick you so hard in the gut. Get ready for the ramping up to start! Also Snake confirmed he was in the Varangian Guard in Constantinople, they were high class vikings working for the Byzantines.
Those were added?? So happy they were, that scene where he reunited with his son was really what took me out!! Oooo excited let's go! I wish I knew what half of those words meant 😂 glad we got a glimpse into Snake's past though, definitely gonna go search it up and learn more
Gardar was just a husband and a father who wanted to protect his family. War is horrible. It's nice to know that Thorfinn has been able to break the cycle of violence with himself and he wants to change.
Somehow and someway this episode took an already incredible chapter and made it a masterful one. They added so much to Arnheid and Gardar's final moments together. I'm not ashamed to admit I was sobbing when Gardar saw Hjalti. Vinland Saga is a masterpiece!
I've read the Manga I cried and watch the anime and also cried. whoever directed and produced and wrote that beautiful piano score in this masterpiece of an episode will have my respect till the day I die and thanks for the reaction.
The visuals in this episode are just perfect. The sky turns to the sea, the empty streets, the rain. And there are a lot of graphic hints without a single line, it's all about the visuals. Those dreamlike expression is a work of art, 10/10. What’s more, I see how the violence can turn a good man into a beast, It was reflected in both thorfinn and Gotha. That's very sad
This scene was a tragedy for all the characters. They all have their own thoughts and positions and have done no wrong. Even though there was not a single evil person here, slavery distorted their relationships and ruined everything. Why is it so difficult to just live as a human being?
Incredible episode. It’s crazy to think now with full context that Gardar was the first character introduced to us all the way at the start or S2. Can I also give respect to the fact that Vinland doesn’t paint him as a villain? It would be so easy to just make Gardar a crappy husband who abandoned his wife. But it shows us how people will do violence out of love. Is it misdirected? Sure. But is it evil? Was Gardar evil? Or was he just a man placed in tragic circumstances? That’s the question Vinland is asking us with this episode.
Yes you can for sure give respect to that because I do too!! One of the many great things about Vinland Saga. They truly handled his character really well
Painland Saga That fight was so well done, past Thorfinn would've won that fight, but present Thorfinn still has a lot to learn to become a real warrior, just like his father. In a way, I'm glad he lost the fight, showing that he's truly changing. While Snake won the fight, he lost the (mental) war. Revenge this, life for life that. What does killing Gardar achieve? It won't bring back your dead men. And oh man, the emotions in this episode spiked massively. We all knew they couldn't have a happy ending, and it still hit me like a truck. Seeing him watch his past self leaving his family behind was a punch in the gut. The regret he must've felt.. nothing is worth more than your family, not even 'the greater good'. Amazing episode and series.
Painland saga indeed. Should call it that from now on. I agree, the fight was so good and even though the outcome wasn't nice, I think Thorfinn needed that. Regret is the hardest thing so yeah watching Gardar go through that made it all the more sad
Atleast Gardar can finally rest in peace in the arms of his wife. It's been a long time since he could rest and relax. Peaceful send off. Her tears turning into rain for Gardar and seeing him smile and genuinely laugh just hit me in the gut. And then seeing Gardar's son in his head and reuniting with him with a hug. Was really painful and bittersweet. I felt like Gardar always wanted to say I'm home after being gone for so long.
I don't think, I've cried as much as I did here compared to any season of anything I've watched... I knew, the moment they got into the wagon, Gardar didn't have much time left. Not just that, I knew it was geographically impossible to get back to Sweden on land... I- i've got nothing else to say... Thanks for the reaction... I'm gonna need some happiness after this episode...
Totally get it! I felt It too, I knew Gardar wasn't going to make it but I was in denial. Thanks for watching, hope you watched something happy after because that's exactly what I did to make myself feel better
Honestly I love this added scene of Gardar hallucinating while on his death bed in the Anime. Because it gives so much more weight and insight into Gardar as a character.
This episode showed us that Gardar did a lot right things, as a father & husband, except for that moment he left his family... that's his sole biggest regret. Arnheid "saw him home safely & peacefully".
I really enjoyed how yukimura and the director worked together to give us canon explanations or bits not in the manga. Truly enhanced the story! There you have it tho Gardar’s arc really kicking off the drama! What’s worse is we already know what’s coming so poor thorfinn and gang. It’s just one thing after another 😭
Me too!! I had no idea the storm that was coming back when you kept hyping up Gardar's introduction. I was excited, now I'm heartbroken 💔 god it's just going to get worse from here
Gardar at the end of day is a broken man not a monster. He was beaten down physically and mentally by his slave owners . And by the system that thrives on discrimination. Systems like these break and hurt people at the end of day. That is the truth . Gardar is someone to be understood not persecuted. Yes Gardar killing others on the farm is not justifiable nor is it okay. But Gardar didn't deserve to be dehumanized like this and have all his rights taken away from him. No one dose. Everyone deserves a happy life with equal rights and equality.
It’s honestly surreal, thorffin, snake and garder are one most physically powerful characters in Vinland saga, yet look where they are, two of them are slaves and one is a simple bodyguard for a farm…like what?
Thanks a lot for your great reaction 🙏.....i'm actually scared of some ep in this anime, healthy, brave or good human invaded other country, been slave and be dead .....this be not the fiction but real....?!🤔 i hoping next.
Thank you for watching! 😊I get what you mean, it's frightening and upsetting especially because these things have happened and still are happening in real life
