I am 20 and I would love to go on she, I think it would be more exciting to travel on her than in a jet, I like how it is formal and luxurious as I love that!!
the Queen Mary 2 is so beautiful, and the woman who's talking in the video really presented so well , i love the british accent and she's absolutely gorgeous aswell , i hope one day i'll have a chance to be onboard for an adventure :)
***** as you do not know me, you have no idea of my class......Perhaps, you should learn the manners that people of class have. Go troll somewhere else, or maybe go and learn how to punctuate a sentence. Bye
The QM2 is the most brilliant ship on the seas. She certainly outdoes the oversized, overpacked shoeboxes of RCCL. She offers more space and more luxury for the money spent. I have some criticisms, however. 1) The Canyon Ranch Spa, outsourced to that company. It's employees would often discriminate against passengers who weren't, shall we say, "young and beautiful." I and several other passengers made complaints both with Cunard and the CRS onboard manager and backed it up. Several CRS employees were fired. Hopefully, things have changed. 2) Room service food. It's just a few items repeated over and over again, breakfast, lunch and dinner. One can only eat so many hamburgers. Hopefully, that has changed. 3) Now charging for optional dinner dining in the King's Court. Before, one just needed to make a reservation. There is no reason to make an extra charge. Hopefully, they will change that.
Ships like these are why we should stop transcontinental air travel in favor of ships again. Would love to do a queen’s grill world cruise someday, just hope there are queens grill suites midship lol
I did have a laugh at some of the comments like "floating retirement home," but let's keep in mind the QM2 is an ocean liner not a cruise ship. I will admit it looks a bit stuffy, but it is not meant to be a RCL or Carnival experience.
Fox Yes, it is owned by Carnival and that’s really about it, they don’t have any involvement in the operation of it, which is OBVIOUSLY what he was talking about.
We travelled on board this throwback to the 1920s ship. Cunarders call it a liner, to us its a ferry Southampton to New York return. Stuffy staff, ghost crew, uneven flooring. Never again will We travel on any this tub.
@@ascerbic2u I'm with you there....I've had "The Grills Experience" and found the crew just as pompous and unpleasant as the passengers. To call the qm2 a ferry though does lines like Britanny Ferries, Smyril Line and Hutigruten a great disservice 😀
Phone service may be available, but you may be surprised with a large bill for roaming or international, depending on your carrier, so it's best to leave your phone on airplane mode while in international waters or foreign ports. Just pay for WIFI if you need to contact anyone at home while traveling abroad.
The interior definitely leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. Definitely has nothing on grand liners if the past like RMS Olympic, RMS Aquitania, RMS Majestic, etc.
Femme Funtime It was Millenium. They removed it in 2015 and turned the decent interior otherwise into ugly modern art. Only one of the ocean liner themed restaurants was readded to a ship, being the Normandie restaurant, which was added to Edge, and apparently Apex for some reason. Why they haven’t added Olympic’s back in is beyond me.if they’re not going to put it back put it in a museum as the panelling they used was from the original restaurant from the ship. I don’t get why out of all the ones they removed (Normandie, Olympic, United States, Île de France, etc.) they chose Normandie twice. Astonishing as out of all of them Olympic’s proved to be the most popular. For me, Normandie’s is too plain for my liking, not exactly deserving on being added TWICE.
walkernick86 If you like bland minimalism. Not really befitting of LUXURY. Society today needs to realize there’s more to luxury than minimalism. For ArtDeco style minimalism to work you need STYLE to it
Edwardian Era decor aged quickly, you’re looking at it through nostalgia glasses. By the end of 1920s, the ships you mentioned already looked dowdy and tacky.

Are the gentleman dancers only for ladies, or can I indulge in that too?
I went on a cruise with Queen Victoria in 2019. They had a lady host dancer on board. She also danced with other ladies, if a gentleman host dancer wasn't available.
Come on Cunard. This is 2013 and even the BBC is reuploading old topgear clips in 1080p. The video was great and is a great source of information for new guests, but I, and with me many others, don't like 360p.
floating retirement home😂😂😂 you guys are just funny. i do think it's a bit dull, luxurious but boring it seems. i'll stick with cruise ships then. so which cruise ship is the best would you recommend to me?
Wi-fi in limited areas of the ship? C'mon Cunard. The ship is traveling at under 30 knots. If planes can have Wi-Fi while travelling at 35,000 feet at 500 mph, then shipwide wi-fi should be a breeze.
CoDWiiPS3Gameplay Why is so important to have instantaneous cellphone connection when on vacation? Aren't you suppose to be on vacation? And they wonder why cellers get offended when more and more psychiatric associations call it an addiction. For crying out loud, turn off the cancer-box for five minutes and notice what's going on around you and actually talk (not text, fazebook or nitwitter) with people.
You're being really polite - you didn't mention the horrendous price attached to the internet. Something like 15£ for half an hour I heard in a recent review.
It’s odd. Everyone wants to travel to see the world, but as they travel they turn a blind eye to world of the hungry, thirsty, sick, and extremely poor - of this very same world. Then, are they really SEEING the world? One has to ask. I love this ship. It calls to me. But, i do not think I could actually feel good about spoiling myself with such luxury when others are literally dying as I sip champagne. Maybe there is a Cunard in heaven when I am done with this parallel life on earth of heaven and hell.
@2:52 you are NOT on Queen Mary 2, that stairwell with that banister is no where to be found on her @4:54 you are NOT on Queen Mary 2, when will you ever learn? @8:56 I cannot believe she is actually reading "The Help," how funny is that?
There is a few people (like me) Who are not old people but like the company and ships. I’m possibly the least fancy or formal person in the world but I like Cunard since the Mary is the safest liner in the world
I am terrified of this ship and even if I end up on it I would be paranoid and spend most of my time in the corner and very less likely to use the bathroom BTW the ship dose look nice
Ells Talbott Yes, the QM2 and other Cunard ships are very formal, but Cunard often offers rates far more affordable rates for the average family than the other fun-fun-fun lines. There's plenty for kids to do on Cunard ships.
+Inpri affordable? Fort Lauderdale to Rio De Janiero (1 way trip) per person is about $1400 not counting the airfare to fly back to Fort Lauderdale. Carnival Cruise or Royal CC is much cheaper for the average family.
No doubt! Especially if you are talking about American children. They have not a clue as to how to behave and the other passengers have paid too much money to raise someone else's kids.
It is a floating retirement home I have been on it twice, have to go a third time. Many people comment it is a ocean liner, not a cruise ship. Question, does that mean it should not have any fun activities????, duh!!!.
Joseph Forest If you want the "wow" factor of climbing rock walls and skating on ice-rinks and all that (and there's nothing wrong with wanting that), then go with RCCL and its overpriced shoeboxes with closet-sized cabins. Cunard clearly advertises itself as the "civilized" way to sail. If you want loud noises and drunken parties, then go with RCCL and Carnival. "Fun" is in the eye and activity of the passenger. Some want to sit back and read a book while being waited on hand-and-foot. Others want to be spun around on "rides." I loved the QM2; I was bored out of my mind on one of RCCL's "Explosions-of-the-Seas."
+Joseph Forest Ocean Liners have always had fun activities, and no QM2 is not a cruise ship but can function as one. She is built for the North Atlantic and has definite structural features for that purpose, which includes speed.
I cant listen to this tripe. They have airbrushed QE2 out of the history and flogging this French built boat ? I cant call the thing a liner cos I inspected the hull to see why it doesn't like going slow and I was appalled at the rough inconsistent welding and the mismatching of the hull shape where the stern end has been crudely grafted on to make the thing look like QE2 . It is an abortion.
I wasn't impressed with this ship one bit . right from the onset of setting my first footsteps on the thing, it was a let down. where we fully expected to be greeted and shown to our cabin, we were hurredly shuffled away to find our own way on a ship that was devoid of signposts . having to carry our luggage as well and then not even a bottle of champagne in the cabin. I understand the foul Kings court café has now been rebuilt but at the time it was awful smelly cramped and staffed by the surliest of staff possible . I just about managed to write a letter of complaint to the pursers office asking why the thing was so uncomfortable in the water rolling and pitching everywhere in a force 4 !! Had this been my first time cruising , I might not have complained but since I was a regular passenger on QE2 and this thing was sold to me as much better bigger and more sumptuous I was understandably disgruntled, nay, bloody annoyed. Cruising is all about relaxation and on this pile of poop, it is all about frustration. However all is not lost, and my hopes are raised that QE2 will return someday soon as the renovation work is totally in the right direction for the ship to take its place as the flagship of the cruise world once again.
This ship is very boastful , why?. It is very dull, the crew I did meet many were very unhappy. The 3 times I sailed on The QM 2 are all very dull , no theme food nights it would not hurt the line to try.I did sail on The Norwegian Escape , fantastic private balcony, bigger cabins and cheaper , nicer crew and way better food , chocolate night , seafood night and way better recreation, the cruise director Julie was always friendly and nice .Cunard can learn from Norwegian
it's an ocean liner, not a cruise ship... it's supposed to transport you from Southampton to New York or the other way, it's not like the Oasis cruise ships which are designed to be resorts (or cheesy water parks)
Nope, Ocean liners are not cruise ships. This is why cruise ships will usually take the south Atlantic route as they are not built to handle rough seas properly starting with the flatter bottoms. Read about the construction of QM2, thicker hull and far more stability, while you would do the drunk walk in a rough storm on a cruise ship, you will barely feel anything on the QM2. As an ocean liner it is also faster, it could actually cross in just 4 days, but typically does it in 7.
7 days on the ocean please.... a water slide at least. Waited on hand -and -foot???????,do not exaggerate. Queen's grill passengers never. The Q2 cabin's are shoeboxes.
I have travelled on her twice ,transatlantic , the ship is very basic. Facts if you are a senior the ship is fine, if you are not then it is a dull, dull, ship to be on. No watr slide , no mall , no rock climbing etc. If you are single male, the few single ladies onboard are hoarded by the old male ballroom dancers hired by the ship, the single men are left standing as spectators, with all the middle age single ladies in the world you would think Cunard would take them onboard as crew. The casino is a more than usual cash grab, a grand prize of $400 was being put up , wow what a joke. Many say it is an ocean liner not a cruise ship, so is not suppose to be as fun , as a cruise ship? Good points food 7 out of ten, plenty to eat ,but it is usually the norm on ships.
I shall take the clunky tacky Allure cruise ship any day, 7 days on The North Atlantic ,water, water and more water. What is there to admire?,The Q2 needs more activities, the single men on The Q2 paid for their tickets , the same as everyone else they should not be discriminated against.
Joseph Forest So you sailed - twice - on the QM2 to go down water slides, climb fake rock walls and pick up chicks and could't get any of that? Why didn't you just spend time on one of those monotonous RCCL or Carnival ships? And if you are so much younger and better looking than the older, hired ballroom escorts, then why didn't you just go up and ask those single foxy ladies to dance rather than just stand there as a "spectator?"
Joseph, you have made nine comments on this page. If I understand you correctly, you were not satisfied with your experience. If you wanted malls, try Holland America. If you wanted water slides, try Disney. If you want rock climbing, try Carnival. If you can't compete with the gigalos, you need to brush up on your charm skills. If you want serious gambling, try Monte Carlo. If you hated it so much the first time, why go a second? As you are a single male, perhaps you should try one of the gay cruises.
Perhaps you would have gotten yourself a dance partner, if you could have just plucked up the courage to ask one of those single ladies for a dance?? Someone travelling with a traditional liner may still expect certain rules to apply. There the gentleman asks, not vice versa.
"QM2 should encounter a U Boat". First, this country is no longer at war with Germany. (It stopped in 1945 btw). Secondly, you would wish 4000 souls to perish? Shame on you! Thirdly, if you can't write something pleasant, then don't write it at all.
7 days on the ocean please.... a water slide at least. Waited on hand -and -foot???????,do not exaggerate. Queen's grill passengers never. The Q2 cabin's are shoeboxes.
