Unfortunately no! To put money into an IC card, you need cash. The only way to use card is if you use the Mobile Suica or Mobile PASMO on your android or iPhone. The VISA sign was there to purchase a different kind of card.
@@JapanReality thank you much! I just figured out how to add it to my wallet. And I was able pay with VISA. SUPER easy , but I was watching RU-vid hours to find it 😅
I’m trying to figure out where does a card works and where it doesn’t when it comes to transport. Will a JR app work on monorail, shinkansen and others names I saw on google maps?
Howdy! The card works on almost all city trains but I'd be careful in the countryside because a lot of places are still cash only. As for the Shinkansen, its.. too complicated to explain in just this message but I'd recommend that you do paper tickets for it. If you mean Mobile Suica when saying JR app, then you can use your phone to tap on and off. I have a whole video on the IC card if you're interested.
Hi! I completely understand the difficulty in getting around. Lots of underground levels and multiple exits. If you search your destination on a phone, it'll show you your closest entrance shown with a yellow box (4, or 1A for example) to your station. On Gmaps, next to the train line name, it'll have the trains FINAL stop, so look for that on the sign boards and the train itself. Gmaps should also show you your optimal exit, once again shown in a yellow box! Hope this helps!
