I know this is 10 years old, but it is the perfect example to show my students about how the military keeps a sense of humor even in "less than ideal" conditions. Thanks!
When I went to Iraq we stayed at Arifjan for 12 days before flying from from Ali Al Salem. Then when we came back we were at Arifjan for 3 weeks waiting for a flight home. My primary memory of Kuwait. HEAT.
and after $10 grand saved you get 10 percent from the army or $1,000 free. I saved up $22 grand my deployment after each 10 grand saved it is always 10 percent. Make sure you spend your money wisely i lived off $300 a month as there are no meal deductions on deployment so everyone eats at chow hall for free. All i bought were an occasional monster energy and chips the rest was going to my SDP account. Have fun GOOD luck and thank you for your service
I want a job in camp arifjan . I tried to get recruiters but unfortunately i didnt get. If you can help me it will be huge help. Its my e mail abrar_hussain222000@gmail.com
When you come, it will be winter and the weather will be very beautiful, but you’ll be in Kuwait for 460 days, may god protect you when Kuwait enters the summer days!!lol ( it reaches 122 Fahrenheit in the summer)
Welcome to Kuwait! I have a question, do the soldiers stay in camp Arifjan for 24/7? In all my 18 years I've been in Kuwait, never have I ever saw a US soldier in his uniform.
Zone 1 has an olympic sized pool which is a lot of fun to do laps in, trust me over there you will get in shape easily if you arent already...both zone 1 and zone 6 have PXs, zone 6 has a chow hall also. great food.....as far as fast food, zone 6 has subway, hardees, KFC, Charleys(grilled subs yupp) a starbucks, pizza hut. Zone 1 has a starbucks as well, another subway within the PX, Baskin Robbins one in zone 6 and one in zone 1 for ice cream and stuff.....zone 1 has a BK, Pizza Inn.
@@ashish6510 I know there were a LOT of contractors working there from India and Bangladesh yes. As far as security guard, I dont know because its a military installation im sure the soldiers are protecting it but there are many jobs for contractors
I went to Kuwait in 91' via Saudi Arabia thru the berm and three belts of mine fields while being shelled by Iraqi Artillery. We lived in holes in the ground like animals, ate MRE's, never took showers and smelled like it!
well, there was a war at that time so you cant expect a great time then. we Kuwaitis fled our countries and watched our family members die. thank you for your service. but also you can visit Kuwait anytime, and you can see how much it changed in a good way!
I was with the 1st Infantry Division. We went from Saudi to Iraq, into Kuwait then back into Iraq. Got to tour the Oil well fires. All what my Recruiter told me I be doing. LOL
@@ProjecthuntanFish I still remember. Take two pills and go to Mop 2. After one of our teammates had a reaction to the pills. They had to give him half of one the Anthapion ejectors to counter it. We all fertilized the Desert with those pills. LOL
@@fnusecurity5112 yep and a recent study shows that we were all exposed to nerve agent. The army blew up an Iraqi ammo dump just inside Iraqi which contained nerve agent. It then spread south all over Kuwait. Go look it up because you were exposed.
Also zone 1 has a really nice library which I think they have computers there. Lots of information to be found in that library so if you deploy there you are definitely fortunate. Make sure you go talk to finance in zone 1 right next to PX under same roof....you can set up whats called a Savings Deposit Program. Basically you allot from your check x amount of dollars every 2 weeks to go into an account that YOU cannot touch until you get back from deployment
i deployed 2008 to AJ. there is wifi around the base but to access it in the PCBs where I lived in zone 6 you have to buy a monthly card through the internet provider there on AJ. You can buy them in zone 2 i forget the name of the provider, just ask around. In zone 6 MWR they have probably over 30 phones that people use to call home on DSN lines just remember the time difference of Kuwait vs the US. zone 6 MWR also has ping pong, guitars you can learn to play with a sound room....movie theater
2002 none of this existed. We lived in tents. One px trailer. Dfac had food poisoning of 150 soldiers and civilians. No pool and shortage of TP. We unloaded ships and stockpiled fuel for invasion. We were the 773rd trans company from 77 division NY. They never named a Arifjan street after us.
I still remember when they laid the berms down at the tac site for ADA around the Patriot missile launchers. I was there in 2009-2010 (not bad for my 20th and 21st birthday present right? lol) and this was back when numbnuts (Obama) assumed office. I still remember hearing about that dumbass Bergdhal wandering off his post and the Ford hood shooting from an Army major (who was still getting paid while incarcerated) while I was over there in arifjan. All within the same year and going into my second year in the Army. Damn!
Its definitely alot different from when i was there. It was a fight to get a shower with hot water. We got there a few monthsbefore the war started. Set up a PATRIOT site about 6 miles from Iraq. I believe it was called camp New Jersey.
Thanks for this video, I am moving with my husband to Kuwait very soon I can see how we can be of service to the troops serving there at Camp Afrjan, can you spell homemade chicken fried steak? (My husband had 30 years in the Army, retired and immediately deployed again when he joined the State Department... sigh...) I can tell women everywhere, when you marry one of these guys, you can never tell where you may wake up tomorrow, life will remain an adventure closely akin to romance novel your whole life, and you will always own several evening gowns...
My every day packing list while on deployment, a couple blue or green monsters and pack of Newports (since a carton was $28 at the PX) and all my gear and shit. That made my deployment hehe
I was stationed at Camp Arifjan for a year from late 2014 to late 2015. I left the Army last July. I had long since forgotten about this video but I was bored at work, so I was looking at pictures of Camp Arifjan for nostalgia (don't judge me, I know that's weird as hell) and stumbled upon this video. I remember first watching this while on leave after AIT, right before I left for Kuwait. At 2:23, that camel still cracks me up. 😂 Anyone know if that Taco Bell next to the Zone 1 PX is still there? It was awful but I had somewhat of an addiction to it lol!
you can rent xbox 360 they have probably 10 tvs they let you play on you just give them your ID and you can get a controller a good selection of games to play(zone 6). Zone 1 MWR is right next to the Oasis chow hall which was always my favorite because it was really nicely built. The zone 1 MWR has a much better movie theater, ping pong, they have a dance floor where say tuesday nights its salsa night. Also in zone 1 is a gym tho i always preferred zone 6's gyms.
So if you are deploying there a lot to do on the downside you'll be fine. They have a nice Learning Center where you can take in person courses for Embry Riddle, University of Maryland and a Texas based college I forget the name. the bus routes are red and blue very simple, though I forget the colors, the red route goes all the way around the base one way and the blue route goes the opposite way around the base. Stops all over just under a mile from 6 to zone 1 I used to just walk it.
Arijan is cool! And, thank you Camp Buehring MWR/BOSS and Fort Hood HHC 2-5 Cav for making my talent show RU-vid freestyle video one of the hottest around: RAMON HART'S PERFORMANCE OF A LIFETIME
Somebody tell me where all this free wifi is? Is it in the DFAC where I can’t use my phone or in the SIPR rooms where I can’t use my phone? I literally just leave my phone behind each morning because it’s basically a paper weight until I’m done for the day.
Thanks for making this video. Very creative and well done. I did not know life could be like this for the enlisted while in a country like this. It was educational. How many places where military personnel are deployed are like this. I never heard of such a thing like this. It seems if soldiers are living like this that they could be under attack or something. Can someone explain. Thanks
Don't ever expect to find a shower that is anything less than "it will remove ALL the skin from any part of your body you let it touch." Arifjan sucks, but at least you aren't being shot or shelled. Arifjan, the deployment that can suck for you.
hasn't been a vacation since last year at least, everyone that came thru from IRQ or AFG, or had previous tours there, preferred it to Kuwait. EVERYONE.

Went to the PX here once and got bitched at by some officer for not practicing social distancing. My bad maam, not all of us spent our whole deployment in Kuwait. Not used to this politically correct BS.
Agreed, people go in there and it’s hot. Like yea, my favorite thing to do is pile up in a slower then normal line to sweat my ass when it’s time to eat. Not to mention it gets super loud with all the chatter.
