I'm not an evolutionary biologist, but I have read through the entire Bible several times and placed in the top rankings for national Bible knowledge competitions. That's why I stopped believing in religions. I knew the Bible so well that I could point out all of its contradictions at the drop of a hat. And when I started looking at other religions they all seemed equally ridiculous to me. Then I earned my degree in criminology, which led me to study microbiology and I realized that evolution observably happens even on a microscopic scale.

Why does Judas return the silver and hang himself in John, but he keeps the silver and falls over in Acts? Why do Paul's friends in Acts 9:7 "hear the voice but could see no one" but later in Acts 22:9 “see the light but did not hear the voice of the one who spoke to me." Why does God inspire David to number his men in 2 Samuel 24:1, while Satan is the one who inspires David in I Chronicles 21:1? Why is Heli the father of Joseph according to Luke, when Jacob is the father of Joseph according to Matthew. There are many more examples to name, but I think that is enough for one comment.

Science and mysticism are both ways of understanding reality that can complement each other. All religions can be dangerous when reduced to the fundamentals and that includes scientism.
