As far as Amorphis changing their sound goes, Sentenced did the same thing. I like their newer stuff ok I guess, but their old early demo material was pure Finnish Death Metal greatness.
The End records did some 2cd reissues of the Somberlain and Storm of the Light's Bane and the second discs included promo versions of both albums if I remember correctly.
