Loved heavenly sword, odyssey to the west and dmc AND im Swedish so got my viking ancestry, but this hellblade does nothing for me. When "fans" of their previous work have no intrest in what they make nor the sequel for it, clearly it should be an issue. I wish they went back to action-adventure games. And stop this trying to be "deep" and working on themes nobody really needed a sequel for. So we got now two games about mental illness? Can we go back to making entertaining games, please?! Im gonna say what some people are thinking, they are being cheap, lazy or just very careful about their budget and thus making it about weird puzzles and walking for a few hours. This isnt the old them.
I totally get your point about the expectations of a fan base based on their first games, but to label them as lazy for developing a game in a genre your don't enjoy? Idk man, maybe this is what they want to do now, this is their vision and we as players can either enjoy or not enjoy and move on.

@@quezcatol fair point, I love the narrative slow cinematic experience of hellblade and I totally get why is not everyone's cup of tea. That being said, let us hope whatever project they got greenlight by ms is something that leans more to their gameplay roots.
@@quezcatolI don't like Nintendo games and Japanese games and I want Microsoft to stop investing in those games but there is still community for those kind of games. So maybe it's same for Hellblade 2

I actually thought about that too when playing Hellblade 2 and seeing reactions, Gene, lmao. Was just flooded with memories of Aerith and Barret's actors going off in Rebirth and some people would genuinely put Senua screaming and showing gums over that. Crazy
Just wanna support these 2 guys for probably dealing with a lot more unnecessary crap than they deserve. It’s surprising to see any edition of Summon Sign with 2 chairs. I’d think a lot of people would love to be on, but I suppose the barriers of entry are greater than they seem. They definitely made the best of the time here, and I’m thankful the community shows so much appreciation.

My “hot take” on unpopular opinions is that mass effect 2 and RDR2 and RDR1 are the most overrated games in history. They are definitely good, but nothing more.

Idk if I was OP, but I just beat the Godskin Duo and the Gargoyles on my first try the other day. I would have defeated the Fire Giant on my first try too, but I ran out of HP/FP pots and I couldn’t hit him for the last few swings of my Moonveil. His second phase is annoying, yet, really cool.
Glad to see Brad and Jean be honest with the audience and themselves about hellblade 2. Funny how the access journalists say its great but almost everyone else aren't happy with it.
Even if you guys are ok with the censorship and rewriting of Paper Mario, it should at least be mentioned. I for one will be emulating and never buying this remake.
Great to hear a little bit of Resident Evil talk. Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes are two of my all-time favorite games. All of the rumors are pointing towards a Resident Evil 9 with leon, and a Resident Evil 1 remake. Which is my ideal scenario.
Have you noticed the complaint about the epilogue comes from people in the industry? To them it's an issue because they like to play more games. I agree with you, the epilogue is amazing
I dont really get the conversations regarding people still being on last gen. PS5 is selling about as fast as the PS4. GTA will speed that up but I don't think its really something to analyze. Most people have always gotten their consoles late.
Yeah PS5 is selling but Sony can tell by who log onto PSN on PS5 if it's an old account or new one. Most accounts are new. They can look at the data and see it. A lot of other consoles the attach rate was quicker.

Yes the ssd instead of hdd is nice but realistically Xbox and PlayStation stayed on pretty much the exact same architecture for their hardware so it’s very easy for a dev to just treat the ps4/5 like the pc market. Just make a lower rez one for ps4 and you guarantee an extra million in sales if you’re a big game. Until they move off ps4 not everyone is going to adopt ps5. Which is why GTA 6 is going to shift massive hardware numbers as well for people who haven’t moved over.
Great episode, it’s awesome how Elden Ring you can continuously bring up new aspects of the game and go on endlessly. Haligtree and Melenia are without a doubt my favorite location/boss in the game. Eternal cities do come close to topping everything in the game. Such a beautiful game.
Yeah hellblade 2 is just another nail in the coffin for xbox. Another stark contrast to the full, robust, joyful single player experiences on Sony and Nintendo consoles. And a game like returnal, which is a masterpiece in every facet. 5 minutes of that game, is better than all the first party wonk that Xbox has released this generation.
People praise the audio because it's great, it's thst simple. The audio experience for media tends to elevate the product. So yes Hellblade 2 having great audio design are a some of the parts that make Hellblade 2 good. Best in class
@@marcushankins8171 TLOU2 is mediocre trying to be a movie game with generic gameplay and long boring cutscenes. Hellblade 2 is atleast standard for graphics in modern video games whereas TLOU2 is standard for mediocrity.
@@daksans6764 false on everything. Last of us also set the standard for graphics at the time and has one of the best stories. Also best gameplay for a 3rd person shooter.
Gene’s great and all but I do think he’s being unnecessarily harsh with the acting in Hellblade 2. There’s more to acting than just line delivery. The actress for Hellblade 2 does a great job in body language and facial acting that isn’t really common in video games.
