Grew up in Kville and went to KES and EFHS c/o 2017! The hang out spot was the Cookout parking lot for me. Dairy Queen is by Union Cross road near the Highway exits. We also made quick runs to Mcdonalds or Bojangles during lunch in HS and once we got back we maybe had 4 minutes left to scarf it down. I was in Marching band the year before State Champs and we were on FIRE. It was cool, a lot of school spirit. I like Kernersville too, it's pretty modern but quiet. Big news is that the movie theater is having to close because of Covid. I used to love the $4 movies there :( Thanks for the video!
I met my husband, married in 1973, and when we got out of the Navy we came to his hometown of Kernersville. We bought a home in Colfax area. You must have lived in the area when we did as I remember things as you described. We moved to GA in 1980, returned to NC in 1984 and almost didn't recognize the place due to all the growth in a short 4 year period!! You did a great job recalling all the "hot spots" of town! The Paul Ciener Garden is now where the Dairy Queen used to be.
I’m from Kernersville. I grew up behind parks Chevrolet I went to kville elementary and middle and East Forsyth class of ‘08 Go Eagles!! My dad worked at Hooker Furniture most of my childhood until it closed down. I love my hometown.
I enjoyed this video! I grew up on County Line Rd. My sisters and I would drive my stepfather's lawn mower up to Clem Medleys for a sack of candy. So fun being a latchkey kid in the 70's!
