Hello everyone. Welcome to my backyard. I thought I would take advantage of a beautiful night to show you some of the cool things we have found along our journeys. I recently found a group of old glass bottles at the former Lehigh Cement company property in Fogelsville PA. The company names on the the bottles are Palmolive, Black Cat Polish, Horlacher Brewing, and Dr. Peter Fahrney and Sons. There are some other goodies as well. Thanks for stopping by, let's have a look. 6/28/24

Good morning Brian. That was the selling point. Problem is it only runs twice a week 😕 I'm always at work. Have a great day.

All kinds of neat trinkets. The black cat shoe accessory line was very popular probably well into the 1940s and 50s of course there were no velcro shoes back then but I think they had a complete repair line including soles heels etc. Always good to have a brewery bottle from town

Allentown was once packed with breweries. There was an enormous one right along the Lehigh river that took up quite a few blocks. It is falling apart now but in its heyday it was a marvelous building. Neuweiler I believe it was.

Man those bottles are great! The two houses I grew up in as a kid Kevin I had railroads in the back yards which is why I became a train nut. Mutton-Hollow, Ruleingest

Yeah buddy, I guess you have to be a train nut like us to appreciate how cool it is. It's a dead end short line now that only runs twice a week but its still pretty damn cool.

Remember that Palmolive tank car in White Deer Kevin? Anyway, your patio is cool…. On mine where I sit in my yard and enjoy my cigars, I have some spikes and insulators from places I have hiked. And the real kicker is I have the same little citronella torch that you do!! Home Depot special!! I thought that was funny.
@kevinsalsbury2118
@kevinsalsbury2118 2 месяца назад
Good morning George. That is to funny. Those citronella candles are from home depot. When I saw the Palmolive bottle I immediately remembered the tank car. I sent you an email, not sure if you got It. The bridge abutments you found the other week. Do you remember where exactly they were? You have sparked my Bloomsburg and Sullivan interest again and I would love to check those out sometime soon. Thanks George and enjoy your Sunday. Have a cigar for me.

Good morning Tyler. What a small world. I bought this house about 5 years ago and to be honest I've only seen the train 15 times or so. It runs every Tuesday and Friday right now. I'm always working when it's running. I have walked the whole active line from Emmaus junction down to the bridge that crosses route 29 in East Greenville. There are so many cool things to see. I plan on doing a bunch of videos on the Perkiomen/ East Penn Railroad in the future. If you ever want to try and catch the train from my backyard you have my blessing. Thank you Tyler.

You are absolutely right Nick!! Three times now. I consider the Perk back pocket material lol. I have a couple videos of Perk stuff including the Dillingerville tunnel but one day I'll do the whole line on video.

Up at Leighton I found an tie spacer I think that's what there called but it's a piece of metal on the bottom of the rail but any way it belong to Lehigh valley because when Conrail took over they barely touched the line as of using it and maintaining so that means a lot of spikes tie plates and rails or what ever is left behind was the ole Lehigh valley plus it was really rusty like that spike you have
@kevinsalsbury2118
@kevinsalsbury2118 2 месяца назад
That is to cool Tyler. The Lehigh Valley had their own custom rails made to. Walking the D&L trail I've come across some rails with LV right in the steel. I'm going to have to check the Lehighton area. I remember there being all kinds of huge buildings along the railroad there. Might have been car shops for the Lehigh Valley. Finding artifacts is so much fun and It gives you that personal link to the past. Thank you for your kind words and support Tyler. Stay safe.
