In other car news, Chrysler today reviled how they have wasted billions on a concept car rather than putting that money into something that will actually see the light of day
As a long retired Chrysler designer, I'm excited to finally see an advanced concept come from my former employer! This bold statement promises interesting and innovative cars in the future from Chrysler!
Ya but it’s sad seeing how such an iconic staple in the American automotive industry go to such a waste. They should have NEVER discontinued the 300. They should have never changed their logo to these two lines, like the 2009-2023 logo was the best. They have wasted so much money on this concept that im 98% sure it’s not even gonna go into production. I’m all for electric cars and sustainability. An electric 300 would be amazing. Stellantis really destroyed Chrysler and Dodge. It’s so sad to think that they won’t even last past this decade and meet the same demise as Oldsmobile, Pontiac, amc, Saab, mercury, Plymouth, Saturn and all the discontinued brands.
@@rocketshiftgaming5693 You may end up being right, but the Chrysler brand has no identity right now and they are trying to reinvent themselves. Obviously they’re going after Tesla with futuristic designs and state of the art technology. Of course this is a concept and it’s strictly for inspiration. If this doesn’t work they will go away like the other brands.
Weird, futuristic concept cars are a dime a dozen (frankly, on that note, this reminds me of the Dodge M4S). But would anyone else like Chrysler, whose centennial is just one year away, to preview an actual production vehicle at some point? Maybe a (near) luxury Imperial sedan to put a bit of luster back on the name? A Town & Country SUV (because, let's face it, that's what the original wagon evolved into) as a Land Rover killer? Something with some Chrysler heritage that doesn't look like every other Vision Gran Turismo video game concept car? Or am I just being nitpicky?
A nice looking concept car, but you’re literally down to ONE product with the discontinuation of the 300; you NEED to come up with production ready cars SOONER than later or else the customers you already have with the Pacifica will start to shop somewhere else and then the Chrysler brand is done for.
Couldn’t we say the same thing about Mercedes and Rolls-Royce when they were making all the Engines for the old planes and put off production of motor vehicles for a period of time?
FYI - the AIRFLOW is not going to be made. The Chrysler president killed it as too Bland, and cookie cutter, the view they got from Chrysler customer clinics on the Airflow! they have A redesigned bev cuv that is said to be beautiful! not bland! to come out in 2025 as an actual production vehicle! but also later than 2025 look for a new sedan as they have showed this one in this video, and another outline image of a bev sedan about 2 years ago. As for funding Chrysler? Stellantist has given each brand 10 years of funding to make it or not! so Chrysler has got till about 2033 to have the ball rolling! we will see?
I totally see this as Subscription Model: Car manufacturers are exploring subscription-based models, allowing customers to pay a monthly fee for access to a range of vehicles without the long-term commitment of ownership. This can include maintenance, insurance, and other services as part of the subscription.
Lee Iacocca and my dad (He was a Chrysler dealer) must be rolling in their graves, Chrysler is down to a single model (Minivan) and Chrysler spends time, money and other resources to hype a fictional "concept" vehicle. How about designing and building vehicles that people actually want to buy?
Look up Chrysler concepts from the 80’s and 90’s. I’m a mopar guy but they’ve been treading water with just a dozen or so successful models over the last 45 years
In the first half of the 20th century Chrysler was known for QUALITY and superior engineering. Seems like a great place to start, after years of ... Disputable engineering & quality. Not looking good, self driving is bs and people are already tired of electric cars. Even if it was released today it wouldn't be a sale success.
Concept cars are meant to inspire our imaginations. Yes the Halcyon has a futuristic design and forward thinking technology. It also has an uninspired Generic concept car modern look nobody asked for. Chrysler brand NEEDS some quick and dirty Stellantis captive imports to keep the Pacifica company until new models are introduced. Heck, I'd settle for a Chryslerized DS9 hybrid with a 300 style grille/bumper slapped on it.
Just look at the CEO, that's not the look of a CEO for a company that is going anywhere. That's the CEO you gift the job to you when your company is finished and you want to be woke. They all that that Kathleen Kennedy disasterous look on their face like they are falling apart
Put a Hemi in it, totally scrap the interior and put proper gauges, switches, and a gear selector in it, angled towards the driver, dumb it down so it doesn't cost $200 a month in subscriber fees (and a fortune in repair bills five years down the road), and a more realistic front windscreen that doesn't look lifted from a Concorde (because that will never make it to production; a stone chip would total the car). Give Tom Gale a crack at making this more production-ready.
Wait. What about Chrysler? Chrysler used to have the most beautiful, powerful, and elegant show cars on the market that actually meant something. All built off the Viper or LH platforms! They spoke to identity, heritage, and future. This looks like a kids' toy. Even the AirFlow had some personality.
If Chrysler place this model on the road without turning it into an ordinary version, it blows every current model off the road. It'd make the Tesla line look like cars from the 1960s.
@@Samuraiii_Kun Almost makes me wonder if we can do a petition to make them bring them back. Their moto was luxury for the blue collar worker. I don't think they stand by that anymore
@@Samuraiii_KunAmericans don't buy sedans enough unfortunately. Everyone's obsessed with getting more than what they need. In reality the 200 and 300 were both really old and in need of redesign. Neither of them were making Chrysler anything close to how much the Pacifica made. Chrysler's been in a tough spot and can't afford to spend money redesigning these cars that nobody really buys.
Is not all about americans, they have other markets that stellantis isnt Taking advantage of. thats a main issue that chrysler has mainly i think.@@jacksondevine3870
It's getting hate because it is the answer to a question nobody asked. Autonomous driving isn't even legal in most places, and this car will have people looking at constellations? Who asked for that? Here's an idea. Update the design of a late 1960s Dodge Dart and put in a hybrid power train. Make it fast, fuel efficient, not reliant on charging, and minimalist in the interior. No 20" screen.
@@notanothershrubberyCome on, we all know we've wanted a car that can identify constellations while we are driving. It's one of the most sought after car features after side air bags
The design targets a completely different demographic than the marketing approach in this video. This lady was trying to sell a car to a retiree when they should be targeting the younger generation that may actually buy a next gen car.
Sooo no production product at all? I’m over the concept, we need some production vehicles because y’all running out of time. Consumers have already switched to other brands
My father and I were just discussing this, it reminded us of the Ram Revolution concept being so far from the actual product. With experience with many cars and trucks on catia v5 and v6 this is not going to go anywhere. They need to focus on what sells, daily drivers and their families. Most people barely can afford a vehicle, hense why the big three are so big as well as toyota and honda, compaired to bmw, mercedes, audi etc, i need to get to work to scrape by and ooh, a cheap economy compact or small suv that isnt as nice/fast/comfortable/stylish as a s class or m5 but is cheap and fuel efficient and has awd for winter? No brainer, its why the camry is top dog, it is just about the best commuter car made where as the supercar segment sell less than half those production numbers combined. We need dailys in this stupid race of life where most sacrifice comfort styling and specialty for cheap.
Same as the new challenger ev concept. The actual production one looks nothing like the concept just like the ram ev concept and pretty sure the production model of this car will actually not even look close to this
Smart, green car. Beautiful. Please make the production as is, sooner than later, and very affordable. Also, make an equally affordable RV version and watch it sell like hot cake in the US and Europe. Make it affordable by streamlining the production process so many people can buy them and not just a few and expand the market to outside the US including countries like Ethiopia that has banned gas vehicles. Also, bring the same technology for Pacifica, 300, and 200 instead of ending their production.
As someone who wanted to design vehicles and did as a hobby since the age of 5. I got questions. Why? Why show something that will never get built? I have ideas that would set Chrysler apart if someone was interested. But this vehicle, not quite. Inside is nice but the outside is a miss.
Whole lotta inspiration taken from the Tesla Model 3. Very Spartan design, fishbowl style upper half, single screen, very basic but classy. Just like the M3 and Y. Love it!
That was the “huge” reveal?? It honestly looks terrible. Where are the designers behind the 300? Bring them back. You delete the 300 forever and then release 2 concept vehicles, 1 of which won’t see the light of day for at least another year. What are you doing over there?? Your lineup consists of more concept vehicles than actual vehicles. It’s LAUGHABLE 😂
@@freddybell8328 the look is all personal preference. You like it then you like it. And yes I know about the airflow concept car which I personally dislike as well. Facts are facts and they have 2 concept cars and 1 production car. Before you spit 2 cents in maybe think that not *EVERYONE* has to like the style of this car
Chrysler keeps hinting on a 2025 release for an all electric vehicle, better than Tesla Cyber Truck four years ago 2020. ETA is 2028 on that is 8 years and pending lol
@Chrysler, I have the license plate H4LCYON, please actually make this concept come true for once so we can create a perfect marriage between car and plate 😅
I would like to address a few points as a consumer, the removal of pillers makes me question the safety of their vehicle… It’s also looking as you’re taking the drive ability and the fun of driving out of this vehicle in particular… It is concerning to me that one of the first things you highlighted was the environmental impact of this car, and how you would be putting recycled parts into the production… it makes somebody wonder how much money would a consumer have to spend to obtain one of these and what is the Longevity and general lasting ability of this vehicle? Only a child would think the look and idea of this vehicle is cool when you’ve already made the new chargers and Durango‘s, and the late model viper was a great design success… I don’t feel as though this concept vehicle moves anything forward This whole promotion seems like they’re trying to be a new type of Tesla instead of an evolution of a Chrysler ….
To me the crown jewel is the Inductive portion of the offer. Probably the design will change a bit, parting ways with conceptual stuff and getting on a more down to earth form factor.
Ps pepole want affordable ie cheap long lasting cars. Somehow car manufacturers are missing the mark. We need cars for transportation. Not a bunch of bs gadgets that fail.
Chrysler would never deliver a car that exciting and beautiful this brand has been boring for decades now. Why you haven’t kept up with everyone is beyond me try bringing in really good designers like Hyundai did with their brands. You need subcompact, compact, midsize, and large crossovers. You need a new design language, work on hybrids vehicles first then do all electric down the road let’s be honest America isn’t ready for full time electric vehicles the charging infrastructure isn’t there yet and people still have legitimate range anxiety. You need good designs, good tech, and reliable products then we can call it a success.
Although I can appreciate technological innovation, Chrysler needs to produce a car that isn't based on a flighty dream world but can actually be built and sold, a vehicle, that although probably attractive, can actually be marketed and purchased by consumers. Chrysler is wasting money and precious time by producing these dream concepts.
Looks like the effective replacement for the Chrysler 300C. Looks to be built with the Stella large platform in mind, complete with the R wing from the Charger Daytona concept.
Hey Chrysler I am a fan boy, I grew up in a Mopar house. I need to buy a car and you DO NOT SELL ANYTHING ANY MORE. The EV Revolution is falling flat on it's face. How about working on the future hybrid's? Just so you know Toyota and Honda are 2 decades ahead of you.
I like the idea but we all know they're not going to make it. It would require too much capital for a brand fighting for its life among countless other siblings in the Stellantis portfolio. As portrayed, it would be way too expensive for it to be a commercial success, more of a fun toy like a supercar would be to a wealthy elite. I think Chrysler needs to get back to what they were trying to do back in 2010/2011 when Fiat first took over by elevating the brand from its history as a near or mid level luxury brand into an unabashed full luxury brand like Cadillac and Lincoln, a position the short lived Imperial brand once held for the company. If they try to go right at Tesla like it looks like they're doing here, they will fail. They need a line up of a midsized luxury sedan (3 series, Ct5?) competitor, and a large midsized to full sized flagship sedan (5 or 7 series competitor). And of course hold on to the minivan that has come to define the brand in recent decades, as thar has become a niche market once again and I see no reason why, as the creator of the segment, they couldn't continue dominating it. Of course they need to consider maybe a small crossover to compete with the smaller Cadillac/Lincoln models and maybe base a full size SUV/Crossover off the current Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer platform but make an effort to up the luxury stats from that held by those models. If they can do that successfully then MAYBE start developing some futuristic halo car such as this "Halcyon" but if they can't prove that they have the resources and desire to compete against at least Cadillac and Lincoln, I feel that this concept shows that they're simply going boom or bust with this vehicle, and when the "bust" comes, as I think it would if they started making this car tomorrow, it spells an end for the legendary Chrysler brand, which I would hate to see.
2 minutes of bullcrap before you show the car. The looks great, but a more normal steering wheel and controls would help. Enough with the glass roofs as well. All that does is add weight, expense, and burn my head (have a Tesla, so I speak from experience).
You may want to improve your CGI a bit. At 4:18 the trailing edge of the front door magically passes right through the front end of the rear doors without doing any damage!! This is pathetic.
Nobody wants these cars. People use their cars for everyday, repetitive tasks, where a car just needs to work. Rarely do we venture out on a journey where I need the car to be auto-acclimated. And self-driving cars should have everyone far more frightened than they are. You want to impress people? Unveil a car that excels at being a car, not a pleasure-dome for non-drivers. Show that it can be excellent with minimal technology that drives up costs. And, I'm sorry, but the moment I hear that a car is mostly made of recycled content, I know that it will only stay intact for at most 7 years. Recycled materials do not have the same strength and durability as virgin materials. Also, let's note that Chrysler is now a "brand" and not the engineering company of old. As a Mopar fan, this all pains me greatly.
