I am from "Brooklyn" and Red Hook was a area in The 60's, 70's , 80's 90's where you did have to thread lightly! I had family who lived in Red Hook Project of they moved! I left "Brooklyn" but it did not leave me I learned a lot in "Brooklyn" it is a different learning compared to other area in The Boroughs. He is right about the view and the money that people would like to make from the area. But, the people there will fight for that history!

As a Houstonian from Texas I've visited New York City back in 97 and I can say it is a beautiful city crowded and noisy and very diverse

I stopped at 11:30 to just say how Im impressed with this man. The positive vibes this dude is about is just awesome...he said not to dwell on division between the cops and the hood but how can we help it...POWERFUL. And not just the cops, we need to do this with each other more so than anything!! So many of us could learn from dude. Much respect and Love, praise the most high my dude, God bless.

My pops moved into Red Hook to live with his grandmother after his mom died in the mid 80s he told me it was ROUGH in the late 80s-90s.

Lived in Red Hook (Flagpole) 1983-1997 and I can honestly say these brothers narrating are great representatives of the hood. Proud of them for showcasing the positive.

I grew up in Baltimore MD, in similar housing projects (Lexington Terrace). I joined the military in 2006, so I could get out. What’s crazy is that I miss it, I miss the people, and those I grew up with. Love the channel bro, stay safe out there 🤙

Been coming to redhook since 07’, I lived there for a minute. I loved the Brother Melo tournaments no 🧢

We used to lived there, at 93 Centre Mall, apartment 5A from 1988 through 1992. My grandmother also lived on 116 Mill Street, apartment 4C where she lived all of her life until she passed away in 2004. Nice view at 9:03 from the rooftop, and this is where they would view the fireworks every 4th of July. I remember seeing the fireworks from the Red Hook Houses where the neighbors just set them off, and even showed the fireworks occasionally. The only time I remember was June 10th, 1991 where the fireworks went off in Lower Manhattan from the rooftop. That also brought back memories.

My dad's furniture studio is in red hook so I got to know the area pretty good even though I'm from downtown Brooklyn. Red hook has a special vibe, it's got the salt air from the ocean and lowkey at night even though it's so close to the city. People are in general more laid back and less wound up but the projects can still get active sometimes. I think you should hit Far Rockaway. It's a community that was hit hard from hurricane sandy and has a bad reputation for crime but like all hoods got some dope people out there. It's on the south shore so you got a mix of surf shops and Caribbean soul food joints. No neighborhood like it.
