Ste. Gen. is an amazing place! My family has lived there since the 1700s. It is rich with hidden history, not just the national park it is becoming today. It served as a gateway to the West. The Memorial Cemetery has over 5,000 people buried there from all walks of life in the 1800s. Thanks for doing a story on it, MissourLife!
The Southern Hotel is closed,,,, I called their number and it explains why they are permanently closed. I will still visit this little place and I'm looking forward to it...
hiking nearby along Pickle Creek at Hawn State Park, wine trail with many wineries, visiting all the historical sites and museums, unique boutiques and shopping. What do you like to do? spa at one of the wineries. What do you enjoy the most? I've visited a few times, usually staying just one night, and ALWAYS wishing I'd had another day to stay.
