Richard how many universities in a master application cycle should a person apply to 5-6? In a first cycle?

GREAT question! We typically recommend 2-4 applications in total depending on how strong a candidate is relative to their courses' entry requirements. E.g. A candidate with a 1st class (or int. equivalent) applying to MSc Management courses that require a 2:1 might only need to submit 2 applications. However, a candidate with a 2:1 applying to MSc Finance courses, will need to apply to more courses, or else apply to less competitive universities. As a general rule, it is better to apply to fewer universities in a cycle (2-3 max) and really personalise your application to that course using the tips learned on our channel. You can then see if you receive offers/interviews before putting time into the next cycle. It's worth noting that when I support an applicant, I will typically spend 10-15 hours mentoring them through the first application alone before they adapt it to other applications. I believe our success rates are high, in part, because this time investment is much higher than the average candidate spends on a single application, and we avoid 'spamming applications' at all costs. Each university has a different culture and attributes different weightings to grades, work experience, academic readings, career plans, interview performance and extracurriculars accordingly. Understanding these differences allows an applicant we support to better target what each university is looking for, and so our candidates enjoy higher success rates as they are a better 'fit' and better researched than other candidates. Lastly, when I advise my own premium clients, I take into account the application length. For example, LBS and Imperial have very long (3000+ words) application processes that cannot easily be adapted to other universities, and then they both have different interview formats (alumni and pre-recorded) on top of that. Therefore, applying to BOTH LBS and Imperial in the same cycle can be a challenge, let alone other universities on top of that. In contrast, LSE has a very short application process which can easily be adapted for UCL and KCL, and can all be submitted within a few days of each other once you know what each university is looking for. This is just a small insight into the tips we hope to share in our channel, and the sort of consultancy we provide our premium clients to try and reduce the headache, stress and time commitment needed to get a life-changing offer!

@@the_profs Hi Richard thanks for the response just wondering is having a bachelor and masters with a 2:1 in both, and then applying to a another masters like msc management mean you are at the same playing field as a bachelor with a first? Also I was wondering an age old question from you! Imperial or LSE for business/finance!
