I graduated from College with a diploma in information systems and lived in a city in NewBrunswick. I was brought up in the woods and on a river so I always needed my weekly fix of it so at the same time as my information system career I ran my own snow blowing company in winter and did some logging in the summer. It was all great but it never satisfied my sense of adventure but I continue to support my family. I am now semi retired, my kids are now adult and on their own so I have a sense of freedom that I don't want to waste. I was looking at the Yukon and found this. I think my next Journey just might be the Yukon.
The Yukon is awesome, if you can put up and handle the long 7 months of the cold, harsh, darkness of winter. Whitehorse the capital and most populated city of 35,000 people has all the amenities of a city in southern Canada. There are issues however, since Whitehorse is growing so fast, the infrastructure of the roads aren't designed to handle the increasing volumes of the traffic. During rush hour except to be stuck in traffic during your commute to and from work and when everyone wants to leave the city on a long weekend during the summer months. Housing markets are tough and extremely expensive, prices much higher than down south, unless you got lots of money, don't expect to be a homeowner in very competitive mortgage markets. The rental markets are very competitive also with a very low vancany rate, very hard to find a place, landlords discriminate against pet owners. Even if your lucky enough to find a place, rents prices are insane and very high. In short the housing markets have too much demand and not enough supply, they just aren't building enough new subdivisions and homes in Whitehorse currently. Myself had to move back to Calgary from Whitehorse recently after 14 years due to the housing crisis.
Sure, yukon beckons! , checked out prices on travel to Yukon. How do i go about finding a room to rent for 30-45 days ? That white water rafting is sooooo tempting, i'm sure the game yukon cuisine is tempting too?

For Americans thinking of visiting during the Coronavirus pandemic, if you tell customs you are driving to Alaska, they will let you through and you can spend some time in the Yukon.
And then fuck up an entire province that is probably smaller than Los Angeles California! No can do! There were two Quebecers who went to the NWT to escape the pandemic and are now permanently banned from flying Air North and are also permanently banned from going to the North West Territories NWT for short!

@@traintours7023 just keep trying. I don't think anyone is accepting foreign people right now due to covid. Maybe next year! I was born and raised in the Yukon which is a very beautiful! If and when you are accepted for the Yukon the first thing you might want to buy is bug spray because there are lots of mosquitoes there! I know I am out of work and have been for two months due to covid
