This man, DA Rourke, is literally the most respectful, professional and honorable class act! He speaks so efficiently and eloquently well with respect for the victims. Amazing job!

I find it difficult to look to heaven for help in cases like this. If there is a god and he is truly all knowing and all powerful then he has some serious apologies to make for releasing monsters like Watts on humanity. Whilst I can't look to heaven right now, I do hope Shannon's family find some measure of peace in the future in whatever manner they find helps them. Edit:- I've read what I have written here and I realise it looks antagonising. I truly apologise, it is simply a display of my personal belief system. There is a part of me that envys those who can effortlessly retain there own faith and I truly respect everybody's ideas on what happens when we die. Just because I don't agree it honestly doesn't mean I don't respect. May everybody find solace and comfort in whatever manner they desire. There's enough hurt and hate in this world without people thinking I'm looking to add.
NK was most definitely involved in this. There can be no doubt when looking at the entire picture. Why did she Google Shanann in 2017, BEFORE she googled Chris? Almost EVERYTHING she said in her police interviews were lies, and that is EASY to either find through research, or just by listening! She didn't act like any normal person would who had found out a pregnant woman and 2 little children (3 really) were just heinously murdered. Chris's male co-workers showed more emotion, and they were mere bystanders. Why isn't she under investigation?! Where is she btw?? I've heard rumors; & yes, that's all they are; but rumors that she's pregnant. Would make a lot of sense with her texts to Chris & her friend Charlotte that she wanted to have those things with Chris as "firsts". She wanted Shanann's life. Is that why Chris didn't go forth with any trial, or respond to the civil trial? Because Nicole would be showing by then, & a much clearer motive emerge? Is that why she didn't feel well at her interview (and made sure to say it was nausea & BEFORE she "knew" anything). Did they let her off b/c she's carrying Chris's child? That's all mere speculation; but her involvement is NOT when you look at her deleting messages; setting up an alibi; the texts, letters, emails, and her own words give her away. How ANYONE doesn't see it, I don't know what to tell you.

I am so glad that when the police officer expressed sympathy and prayed for closure that he only mentioned the Rzucek's and not the Watts. The Watts family continues to slander Shannan to this day while continuing to describe Chris as an angelic victim. Not once did they shed tears for their murdered daughter-in-law and grandchildren. The only tears they shed are for their precious Christopher who is the REAL monster in this case.

Funds will go to a trust and his bills will be paid before he gets a ramen noodle. He knows his done for. Ongoing cost for the victims compensation as well as his own medical etc..

Thank God he plead guilty! And he's in a place where he can't hurt another woman or innocent babies. I cried when Shanann's dad and brother spoke during the sentencing. God bless them :(

I'd think that if NK had that kind of involvement these investigators would have figured it out. All the while she is trying to fix the marriage he is planning a future and having fun with someone else. He makes me sick . Wow. That was an impressive show of professionalism. When I heard the judge say in 17 years of being a judge he has never had a more gruesome crime in his courtroom, coupled with this DA's evidence explained, Chris Watts must be a psychopath. My heart goes out to the families.

I agree I completely think the Colorado Bureau of Investigation dropped the ball on this case there's a reason that she deleted those text messages between her and Chris Watts there's a reason she deleted the text messages between her and her friend Charlotte she's hiding something she was in that house more than once her phone pinged in the fridge. As much as everyone seems to forget his family has lost their grandchildren and daughter in law no matter how much they didn’t get along and due to what his son has done they even lost him in a way. They’re hurting, grieving, mourning and trying to make some sort of sense of the atrocity their seemingly normal son has done. They deserve just as much compassion, prayers & love as her family does. But it makes me happy to know that I can separete my personal feelings and highly appreciate the work of all the officers, friends and family in this case. You did a great job. Connie Crawford as someone who lives in weld county, I wouldn’t give too much praise as this case is a rarity. Also in Frederick Colorado there isn’t a lot of crimes so these officers had the time to dedicate most of their officers/detectives etc to this case. The DA has been being pretty cocky and disrespectful to the current governor while I agree with what the DA says about the awful current pos governor (Hickenlooper aka Dickenlooper) speaking the way he did during press conferences or interviews during this case wasn’t the appropriate venue or time to let the world know his feelings about the state of the death penalty and other big issues as his position as the top dog district attorney if weld county he should know better. But they did do amazing with this case sadly they don’t give the same effort and such into every other case and they really should.
It helped tremendously that Shan’Ann’s family did not want to pursue the death penalty. And that Chris Watts plead guilty. This DA is part of a group who wants to secede from the state of Colorado and write about liberalism being a disease. No matter if you are liberal or conservative, one should not say that other political groups are suffering from mental defects. Rourke is a big part of that group.
The prosecutors signed a plea deal. It's not like they went to trial and won a hard case. The monster confessed. The detectives however did the ground work and gathered the evidence.
@@420jaynay The D.A. wanted to fry his ass in court and go for the death penalty. He backed off and agreed to the plea deal of LWOP only after speaking to Shananns mother. Her mother was extremely opposed to going for the death penalty in this case.

What a horrible, horrible case. Kevin Wells, father of murdered 10 year old Holly Wells said: "Time doesn't heal... it anesthetizes. Grief does not diminish, but you can manage the intensity and learn to live with it. Murder has the capacity to destroy more lives than the one taken" - so true in this case, so many lifes destoryed, so many people grieving, so much pain, and all for nothing. Prison for life is where he belongs.
Grief is like a wound that never heals. The pain is deep. Eventually a scab forms superficially, but at any moment it is ripped off and the pain is fresh as if the day it happened. You always know it's there and are forever scarred.

Of course he showed no remorse for what he did. This is pretty clear when he sheds a tear for himself during his mother’s speech. Not a single tear for his victims when they were being talked about. What other evidence do you need to be reassured of his self interest?
Yes, it was supposed to be a VICTIM'S Impact Statement. Cindy Watts barely mentioned her murdered grandchildren, all she could talk about was that dick-for-brains asshole. He really didn't start shedding a tear until they were sentencing him. Just like Cindy's speech was all about him, his tears were all about him.
This is just one of the saddest stories I've heard in a very long time and I've had a member of my family murdered. It's truly just a horrific situation. The team making this conviction possible is simply amazing. Included in the team I would consider Nickole Atkinson. Without her efforts, it would have taken a very long time, if at all.
Out of everything that came out of this horrific crime ,the worst part to me is how he dumped his children into oil tanks !!! I cried so hard when I first heard that !!! That is unbelievable!! The DA did a great job with this case. He handled the whole situation with compassion, efficiency, honesty and professionalism. He made sure to protect Shanann’s reputation and to seek the ultimate justice for her and her family. So glad he’s the one assigned this case and he did a great job with his statement to the judge.
Evidence. You have to have evidence that they were involved. No charges can be filed if there is no direct evidence. They got, prosecuted and convicted the culprit. I also believe that NK was involved or knew more than what she has led investigators/others to believe, in many areas. The appearance of deception on any level IS troubling.

I love that this guy genuinely seems passionate about the case and almost mad at Chris for what he did. That's what makes a good DA, not some rat that only does it for another win in order to rank up.

Not in any way to diminish the family’s suffering, but I cannot begin to imagine the trauma to the men whose job it was to remove the children’s bodies from the oil tanks. That must surely rank as the worst ever, a sight never to be forgotten.
