I’ve started this same project on my 65 Mustang. The video was very informative! Great job!

Great point on the welder. I love my Lincoln Weldpak 100 and I've had it for about 10 years.

In addition to the welding clamps, you can also use cleco clamps to keep both metal tight when spot welding.

Drill holes in the thinner steel (apron) and weld to the thicker steel (shock tower)

I noticed you had a core support stamping, minus the bottom most section which rides below the radiator in a horizontal configuration. Does someone sell just the section below the radiator?

NPD sells the whole part, I just didn't want to deal with the work it would take to remove the original. It was in good shape so no need to replace it.

Would a Chicago Electric 120 Amp Flux Welder work? I'm asking because the only low enough mig welder I can buy is a 170amp MIG/Flux Welder and its a 240v. I'm not exactly sure which one would work best for doing the sheet metal?

Not well. Just ask Cam. We'd rather see you use a MIG like the 240v that they offer at Harbor Freight. Jeff prefers the Lincoln or Miller 110. You can dang near weld tinfoil with the right wire. We use a 110 Lincoln with an Argon with .023 to .030 wire. Check this page for Argon flow: www.netwelding.com/MIG_Flow%20Rate-Chart.htm . A good welder and correct settings can go a LONG way to making it a relatively pain free experience.

Hey guys, thanks a ton for doing these videos. Got a question...I'm about to do both front aprons and the radiator support. Are the spot welds for the core support tabs (that face forward and you bent backwards) inside the frame rails? I have the added luxury (?) of having to patch both outer frame rails for bumper brackets, and can take care of those while the frame rail is open. It makes sense in my head but I want to make sure before I get too into it. Thanks much!!
