Sensibly, we could provide equal votes to EVERYONE, IF we either got rid of income tax OR banned the practice of taking (taxing) money from one group of voters to give (welfare and social programs) to a different set of voters. The problem is that this second set of voters is not really voting to benefit the nation, but rather to create a team of people that will steal as much money as possible from the contributing taxpayers. When you say this is nonsense, it seems that you may be missing the point. All over the world, nations have adopted democracy along with social programs that trended towards bankrupting the country. And we are doing that ourselves right now.
