Keep it blonde all over. I did the same thing with the balayage and I regretted it because I couldn't go back to all over blonde without serious overlap. Your all over blonde is gorgeous. Don't try to fix what's not broken. I'm sure it will look great either way but you get such beautiful results at home why risk it.
Alexandra Morris I usually do a reverse bayalage (thanks to Elle bangs) during the fall but it's always a pain in the ass going back to blonde. Buuuttt I just thought about doing a demi or semi on the roots instead. Is that like genius or no lolol
I would do the fake regrowth. But a word of advice. Don't use an ash shade. Due to the lack of warmth in your bleached hair, the ash will go green. I would do a neutral with a drop or two of a warm shade. The warm shade will fill your unpigmented blonde hair and the neutral will show through ashy. You can go ahead with the ash but there is a high chance of it turning green/gray
Babe this light ashy blonde color is perfect for you, you look like an angel, perfect skin and perfect hair, dont change it.. P.S. Take care....you are very beautifull.
Yes do the intentional roots! I recently did & it inspired me to go almost completely natural & healthy! You can always do a little bayalage or highlights to break it up a little. I used to have extremely bleached hair like you & am so glad I don't have to deal with any of that anymore! ☺️
YES YES YES, please do the root balayge thing. I've been wanting to do that to my hair and it would be nice to see more people do it so I can use it for hair inspiration.
I started watching ur videos when I severely damaged my hair and wanted to see how to make it healthier. I'm not super healthy yet but it is better than before from the tips I got from you :)
So I have your same natural color and get highlights every 2-3 months. I love that I'm able to go that long between visits. When I was blonde in high school and bleached the roots as you do, I could only go like three weeks before getting that harsh black line. I'm not sure which ends up saving money. But I spend $100 every 2-3 months. I absolutely love your color, but if you're redoing it every couple weeks, that must be a pain!
LOVE the color you ended up with. I think it looks great on you & seems to have a lot of dimension while still maintaining an even color. (also, I love that you document your hair adventures!) Question for your Q&A : What is one thing you like about RU-vid & one thing you aren't so fond of?
I honestly love your platinum/ultra blonde, you pull it off so so well. But, I totally get wanting to take a step in a different direction or looking for a graceful way out of doing your roots all the time. The nice thing about doing a fake root is that, if it's close enough to your natural regrowth, you potentially won't have to do touch ups at all. Plus, you do get to keep the majority of your blonde. Either way, you'll look fab! :)
I added a smudged root to my all over blonde with a medium ash brown color from Wella. I love it! Just remember to wash it out with cold water, because the dark color can bleed into your blonde hair and darken it if you use warm water!
Love you hair videos...please dont ever stop them because you give me courage to do my own hair every 8 weeks or so. I always experiment with the Wella toners too, so it's fun to see how they turn out on you. Thank you for all of your videos!
weeeeeell,I personally loooooove blonde hair and that blonde girl on you is to die for!!!! :-* But (!) I can see your point, being a blonde myself I ve made the same thoughts occasionally due to the harshness of the bleach to darken my roots but I ve tried that before ( had highlights) and that did not work for me! So... think twice before acting 🎭 Ps.Here in Greece we do not have wella Toners, what would you suggest instead in order to get that rich golden blonde?!?!?!? BTW, adoooore your work,😍 love the simplicity in you!!!!
Jess, I used a 1/2 bottle of T10 before a couple months ago and it had darkened just like your T11 did. I don't know if it's because it was old and exposed to oxygen or whatever, but it affected my end result, it was a darker cast but not a nice darker. It was obvious that something was wrong w/ the toner. I don't think your color looks bad at all, but I know what you mean by gray in certain areas. I've been left w/ old toner and dye before from Wella and I just toss now it if there's any left in the bottle. Anyway, in my opinion, I love your blonde hair, it suits you perfectly, BUT I know the feeling of wanderlust to try something different. I had black hair a year ago and now it's a level 10 ash blonde and it takes such commitment to maintain it because I don't know to do just the roots w/ out missing some spots and getting an orange result. At any rate, I vote for blonde and just play it up with different tones like you already do.
I love the color on you. I watch your videos all the time. I have naturally blonde hair which is gotten darker over the years so I like to tone it all the time but I watch you videos first 🙂
The reason your T11 was si dark was because it had oxidised in the bottle. That means it wont work at all with developer. So your result was pure T10 and no T11 :)
hi new to doing my hair here!! so I noticed you wrote a couple drops of warmth and I have heard other people say that what do you mean by that like a gold additive or a couple drops of any level warm color how do you determine how much and what kind of wants.
This looks so nice on you! I think you should go for the rooty look. Just make sure you blend blend blend where the color stops! A jagged pattern is the most 'natural' look, surprisingly enough (hairstylist here)
Love your videos! They're so down to earth and realistic, which I think is great. My question would be about what you do outside of RU-vid, like career wise or hobbies. I think it would be cool to know those kind of facts!
You are my favorite blonde! You look so good in every shade. I tried the whole dark top light bottom, except mine is my natural dark brown hair and pink for the rest and it's so difficult to blend nicely at home. I have to bleach my hair a couple times to get it light enough to put the pink in...so it's like the same thing you want to do. I hate it. Lol. I'm actually thinking of just bleaching my entire head. It would be so much easier. So that leads to my question... How often do you have to retouch your roots?
Hello!!! I’ve watched all your toning videos and wjat to know what is your preferred favorite? I cannot decide if I should use T28 or T11. For you what was the biggest difference between the two?
Somegirljess actually that light ashy blond hair really suits you,but I really know what you mean,it is just so annoying to retouch light blond and im sometimes just so lazy 😅 but also im in process of having long waist length hair..oh! For the Q & A, will you let grow your hair long? Have you ever had long hair? Wish you the best!
does the developer in toning lift fashion colors from your hair while toning? (i have ion blue dye in my hair and i want to use wella 050. will the developer in the toner lift it away so it goes silver? also, will putting the toner on ur unbleached black roots lift them or do anything to the virgin hair? and will a higher developer in toner lift your blonde to a lighter level while toning it? PLEASE ANSWERE THESE QUESTIONS IVE BEEN WANTING TO KNOW FOR A LONG TIME AND THANK YOU I LOVE YOU
I would love to see you do a reverse balayage as you called it or a shadow root, I’ve heard it called?? Would love to see that I have thought about doing it because my hair is actually naturally platinum blonde. I know my little headshot shows a bit blonde yellow, but it isn’t. It’s actually white no filter on there. It’s just the colour of this photo. I have thought about doing that so many times I’d love to see you. Do it only to see how much work is involved to keep it up because I wouldn’t have the same kind of roots is everybody my roots will come out white so I would literally look like a skunk if this were the case, and I fell in love with it. Love you.❤❤❤❤❤❤
I would definitely look into a rooted look. Try and grow it out a little and then see if you can get an idea of the tone you are and then have them blend it down so you can grow it out and retouch the blonde as you want without it being a every month redo thing
i did a reverse balyage from similar to your current color and i kinda regret it because i miss my blonde but i feel like its gonna be so hard to go back to my blonde
How long did it take you to get to the shade of blonde you are now? Did you just bleach your whole head once + continous root touch ups? Thanks in advance! :)
I'm still trying to figure out which blond is my favourite, the first toner I used was the t18 because everyone raves about it, I think it's too intense, I look like a Targaryen. The next one I'll try is the t10 and failing that it looks like t11 would be my next choice. I like a warmer blond.
Im trying to achieve silver but I cant seem to get rid of the warm tones in my hair. Ive used 9a, T18, 050 additive even blue food color. My warm tones make my color similar to strawberry blonde. Suggestions???
I have used T14 yesterday with a 20 volume developer both of them wella brand. I have used that three time already, my hair is still orangy especially the roots. What do you recommend?
i always love your videos..i have a toner question i dont always use the whole bottle of toner but when i go to use it again later i notice that mine isnt clear anymore either it will be turned purple in the bottle..does it oxidize and not be any good when that happens because ive noticed that it wont take after it turns purple.
never used toner before im lucky with easy lift and white blond i prefer but after watching some toner vids decided to give it a go. trying the T10 1st believe its blue based wanna try the purple based next time to decide which suits me better and i prefer or wether toning itself is something i want to consider. i use one n only aragon based perm color the platnum line for several yrs now and i love it wouldnt change that at all. i was curious about shampoo style toners might give that a whirl. i found some one n only products ill be trying next in few wks to mth. its there demi activating lotion u pair up with there glossing cream its suppose to touch up and maintain and protect ur color plus give ur hair a super conditioned shine so see how that goes. Ive been coloring my own hair for 25 yrs and not to sound funny but when i paid to get my hair colored and came out with seriously piss yellow hair i said nope and im self taught and have women offer to pay me to do there hair infact monday doing my girls hair down stairs. i currently cut and layer my own hair now and was thrilled with results. i stopped letting people cut my hair because when i say dont cut more that 2 inches max ans you ignore me and do what eer you want hell to the no. my length is important to me very so happy to say i can do many beauty proceadures myself hair nails facials my own natural products im exsploring with . this is what i love to do and i do it well.
Your hair is so pretty, but I totally understand needing a change. I would say if you are going to blend in some dark be prepared to keep it up in a salon OR be prepared to all over bleach again if/when you get tired of it!
For Q&A: Sephora and Popsugar said that air-dryed hair is a big trend for 2017. Any tips? I saw L'OREAL Advanced has a new product line at drugstores just for air-drying. Have you tried it? My hair is fine and blonde and I would love some advice!!
Use natural mascara. Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay, Pacifica Dream Big are my favorites for big lashes. Mineral Cushion Curling is also good for a natural lash look. Love you xoxox
This one looks nice in your hair too. I live in Spain, and here we dont have this stuff. I wish I could get one of those. I e bay they're so expensive 😒.
Also this compliments your skin colour, looks amazing on you . But having this hair colour naturally is a pain the hairdressers dont want to touch my hair with dye as there are so many ladies inside paying hundreds for this colour !
hi .. keep it blonde all over... it looks lovely.... im wanting to use t10 & t11 on my hair, it will be my first time, any advice please... thank you tina xoxo
My hair is light blonde but I seem to draw out yellows and dark oranges when I color so what toner should I use, i want a more white or light blonde without those. thanks
I think you'll have to bleach the darker yellow and orange parts. it's the only way to get a whiter lighter blonde. and then you can tone. if you don't need to be whiter or brighter, you could try wella 28 if youre more on the yellow side. if theres lots of golds and oranges throughout, i'd recommend a demi permanent hair colour such as 8a or 8b (any brand). it might darken your overall hair a bit, but it would even it out and help with the brassiness.
I'm like a natural level 8 (a little ashy) and I'm trying to do the blonde-gray ombre look. I have to bleach my hair first, but I'm wondering how to bleach for an ombre look? I want to go up almost to the roots since my hair is about shoulder length. Idk?? Is this impossible??
Girl 😂 I'm filming a RU-vid video right now about these two developers and i just realized I have the exact same hair brush as you 😂 I've had it for months now it's the only brush i use because i have suuuper thick hair and it doesn't rip my hair out. Also we have the same bottle thingy 😂
maybe try a demi-permanent level 8 ash blonde? i know it seems light, but i used ion demi perm level 7 on my platinum hair and it literally turned out DARK brown, disaster lol. luckily after washing it like 20x with a clarifying shampoo, it became an actual level 7.
Hi!!Somegirljess!! I have a question about skin color in the sun. So how do you keep from sunburning your face or what products to use on your face? My cheeks and nose and four head always burn really red when I'm in the sun so I always have this rather light lobster look it's not the greatest next to my blonde hair.😐
haha probably the cutest lobster ever though!!!! but actually I don't really outside....lol. well not much anyway, so I don't really have specific fav SPF products. I like to wear hats, and if I know I'm going to be in the sun for longer periods of time, i'll try to find a primer or foundation with a little SPF already in it. I know it's probably not the best solution, but for someone who doesn't go outside much, it works okay! if anyone sees this comment who has a holy grail SPF for oily skin, I wanna try it! :)
So recently I bleached my roots close to your natural color, they were like a inch long, the rest of my hair is like a level under platinum blonde if not it is platinum, but my roots turned out yellow, not orange at all and I toned them with wella T18 and my roots were less yellow and the rest of my hair was like tinted purple blue, basicly over toned, how do I get my roots and hair even and what should I tone them with?
Sarah mcwhorter you have a couple options, none are easy though 🙁. The first option is to tone JUST your roots. The only problem with this is that it still might not be perfect, especially if your roots are not quite as light as your ends. The second option is to wait it out - the purple tinge to your ends will fade with regular shampoos. I recommend washing it twice per shower with a "harsh" shampoo such as anti dandruff shampoo. Or even dawn dishsoap..people Swear by that. The third option is also about fading the ends, but doing it with a bleach bath (mix 20 vol developer with powder hair bleach like you normally would, but then add like a cup of regular shampoo to dilute it). Lather this bleach bath just on your (damp) over toned ends and leave for 2-5 minutes...just enough to lift the toner. Then you would re-tone but when you do, only leave it on your ends for like legit 1-2 minutes so it doesn't over tone again. I have a whole video about colouring porous hair that soaks up toner way too much so check that out. Another option is to cover your roots with a dark blonde colour. And the last option is wait til your toner fades a bit and then go over the entire thing with a neutral/gold level 9 blonde hair colour. Neutral and gold tones don't soak up so bad. Good luck!! 😊
I just used the wella T11 toner right after I bleached my hair and I left in for over 30 minutes and di absolutely NOTHING. So now I'm left with yellow/brassy hair, what can I do?!?!
I have never dyed my hair. It is a golden blonde, but as I am getting older, it seems to be getting darker. I would like to go lighter blonde but definitely not platinum. Can I just use a light 20g bleach and mix it with a toner of my choice?
hi! i'm not sure what 20g bleach is? did you mean 20 vol developer? 20 voldume developer + toner is what wella toners call for. But fi you just want to lighten up a bit overall, maybe a hi lift colour would be your best bet. toners arent meant to lift really.
Just have a quick question! I high-lifted my hair (All over level 11) and my roots are by no means yellow but the T18 toner will not take to my roots but it worked everywhere else perfectly. What should I do?
Anika Reilander hi! T18 is meant for super pale yellow (like I'm talking barely yellow), so I would recommend either JUST re bleaching your roots and then re-toning (focusing just on the roots and bringing it through the lengths at the end). Or, applying a level 10 demi permanent colour all over - it will darken it a bit but it might give a more even look. If all else fails, you could cover your roots with a dye that is your natural colour and give yourself a rooty look. Also, t28 is an amazing toner that works on yellow hair :) so that might work too. Sorry for so many options haha but it's all up to what you feel most comfortable with! Good luck 😘
I have The same "problem" as you.. I am dark ash blonde and at The moment my hair is your color, light blonde with highlights but it's sooooo hard to keep it beautiful and my highlights are growing out so fast and it's so exspensive to go to The salon every month.. 🙄 so i want to color my hair light ash brown-blonde The same color as my roots
Pretty girl with AMAZING fair skin! My opinion is with the makeup you did in this video and your awesome complexion your look is perfect without mascara. Very romantic look. enjoyed your video :-)
I just bought these two toners and I'm going to tone my hair like this. Can you please tell me do I need to bleach my hair first? My hair is blonde and my roots are a little darker but still blonde. Also, I need to tone my extensions to get them to match. My extensions are the lightest shade of blonde. Can I just tone them like you did with your hair and they'll tone fine? Or do I need to bleach them
kiana lynn you need to lighten with bleach any hair (your ends, your roots, and your extensions) to be at least as light as my hair in the beginning of this video (my "before"). And you want it all to be the same level. So if your ends are as light as mine in this video but your roots are not, you will have to lighten your roots to match
Personally I'd just be super nervous about putting in the fake regrowth because it's processing hair that you may potentially bleach later on and it may be hard to get the same colour as your blonde (and not be super damaged). Ultimately it's your hair and I'll keep watching you no matter what you choose but I really think it's a big commitment that may bite you in the butt after
hi !!! OK today a bleach my damage hair again...The result was yellow and little orange...then i used The toner t 18 but The result is terribile!!!! i m blond! i have to wait One week and then cover w a dark color? cose i understend i never become white!!!
Manola Moro hi! T18 doesn't work on hair that is yellow with orange. It only works on hair that is very pale yellow almost white already. I think your best bet is to choose a level 7 or 8 demi permanent colour to put on top (dark blonde neutral shade would be best). You can use a demi permanent as soon as you want because it only requires 10 volume developer and isn't much damage. Good luck!❤
