By Robyn one of our Lead Master Colorists: They are both very similar. They are bond building products. However, Wella created wellaplex to match the PH of hair color so it doesn’t alter the lightening effects. In other words, most lighteners have a ph of 9 & so if the bond builder has a more acidic ph, it will alter the effects of the lightener/color, slow it down & change the effect...or end result. Wella took the extra step to match the higher Ph so that it will work more conducive with the lightening effects of color & lightener. Therefore a much more conducive pairing of chemicals with blended marriage of results.
