I am on both buspar and wellbutrin. They have completely changed the quality of my life. I started out on buspar only bc i had severe anxiety. I noticed that while my anxiety had gotten a lot better, my sadness and depression hadn't changed at all. I started taking Wellbutrin and felt so much happier. Both of these medications worked for me immediately once I got the right dose!
Thanks for your comment. I've been on Wellbutrin for two months, and it's helped with depression and Executive Action, not so much for my ADHD, but I'm using a low dose. It has done nothing for my anxiety, although it's not really for anxiety, and I've been wondering if I could add Buspirone safely. I'll talk to my doctor about it.
Buspar has been a life saver.I been on it for Amost a year. My doctor added Bupropn 100. Now 300mg xl. So far so good. I've been trying for years to find something that works for me. I think I might have got it..
Buspirone seems to be very uncommon in Germany. I don't know why. Only two manufacturers produce it and general doctors never heard about it. I hope my psychiatrist will prescribe it to me because escitalopram is not helping enough with my OCD, anxiety and ADHD
I am on Escitalopram and Buspirone. I am satisfied with a lowered Escitalopram dose (20 mg to 10 mg) and Buspar (7.5 mg 2x daily). Buspar is really fine, less side effects felt. I have MDD.
@Christie Leigh sorry for my delayed response. I no longer take Escitalopram because I felt greater fatigue. I tapered off it appropriately. I believe I have anxiety-induced depression so I only take Buspirone at the moment. Mainly because I have yet to find something to compliment Buspirone that doesn't cause weight gain and/or other negative effects. I am unable to take Zoloft or Wellbutrin due to side effects that would not be beneficial for me to continue either medication, unfortunately. Thanks Dr. Aly. I am taking 7.5 mg of Buspirone 2x daily for the next 6months and might increase to 10 mg 2x daily then.
Welbutrin sent my anxiety as as high as the moon!!! Horrible for me! I was climbing the walls getting 30 mins sleep, and that sleep was me clawed into the pillow! I had to call the Dr in a frantic state to get me off of this medication! Im sure it is great for some... It definatly has an effect. If you need energy im sure its great...
I have generalized anxiety and I tried bus spar on and off the past year but I came to a realization that it really needs to be taken everyday, to work , so I got back on it and I been back on it for about a week and I am really giving it a try before saying it doesn’t work, I did felt after two weeks last time i felt it did work but I forgot to take it the second dose and than that kept happening so it didn’t work as good so I stoped all together but now I just set an alarm for a reminder
Can these two medications be taken together? If Wellbutrin is taken for depression but it causes anxiety can you also take Buspar to help with it? I’ve been on Wellbutrin and an SSRI was added to my prescription because of the anxiety. Can Buspar be an alternative to an SSRI?
Yup they can but for people like me because my body doesn't like most meds they had to drop my buspirone down to 20mil due to being lightheaded. It's calmed down but still feels like I've been blowing up balloons.
Yall they put me on Zaiban for smoking cessasion and it made me so mentally ill within a week, I had to stop them immediately. I had every side effect under the sun except for death 😂 and interestingly, they told me to start it 2 weeks before my last smoke, so I was still smoking as normal while on it, so it definitely wasn't the withdrawal symptoms... I did stop smoking nevertheless tho ❤️
It helped me give up smoking as I felt like vomiting everytime I went to light one! Gelped with my mood too lol. We are all so different. Glad you gave up smoking :)
It's funny that you mentioned that Wellbutrin can cause constipation. I've been on a high fiber plant-based diet for 6 years. One of my annoyances was the number of times I had to use the bathroom 😂. Since starting Wellbutrin, the number of times has cut down to 2 or 3 instead of 8-10 😂 I know this video is not a recent video. Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs online pharmacy wasn't around when this video was made. But I just looked, and you can get a 90-day supply of both for about $20 with shipping.
I had such a bad rxtion to wellbutrin. I woke up with hives/rashes on my neck, face, arms, and back. My face was very swollen. Some dizziness and blurred vision. It’s interesting how medications can affect people differently. 😭

@@elainebezak7158Good luck with that. My advice would be to use one of the Dr's apps where you see 100s of reviews of each Dr. I had a Psychiatrist that actually did therapy too which is unheard of these days cuz they make more $ with 15 min appointment writing scripts
Dr thank you so much for a wonderful video! Im 52 and my Dr has just prescribed 20mg daily for GAD. She says extremely safe, and know withdrawal? I also suffer from chronic insomnia, nothing works, not even Z drugs. I have bad sleep anxiety, could this also help for that? Great question! The main reason to compare them is that both are frequently used as helper or add-on medications to SSRIs and SNRIs. I’ve seen so many patients (and providers) confused about how to use them appropriately. Great suggestion on the Qelbree and Strattera! I def can compare those. Dr. Aly
What do you think of Alvuity . My psychiatrist gave it to me for depression but I also have a lot of anxiety. I am afraid it is increasing my anxiety and not helping.
I have take wellbutrin for about fifteen years and as with the ssri’s they are awful. Originally I took ome 150 a day despite being seriously depressed, then over the last months I increased to two so three hundred he results were terrible because they equal no sleep or almost no sleep atall. I think when you are depressed having plenty of good sleep is more important than anti depressants in reducing depression. I have had insomnia since I was a child. In my teens I used to swig down half a bottle of cough mixture with morphine in it and still couldnt sleep. Now I am 77 and have lorazipam andnhave had for twenty years but no matter how exhausted I am it may take 500 mg of paracetamol to get me to go to sleep. Mirtazipime is the worst medication even making youninto an awful drugged state. Depriving someone of sleep is very damaging to health so I stopped taking wellbutrin or any ssri’s. I have had tricyclics and wentnextremely agitated, there are no drugs excpet thenopiates low dose i take for back pain which help plus gabapentin which has no side effects I have encountered.
What is your opinion of the continued effectiveness of Buspirone over many years without having to increase dosage and still getting the same benefits as when originally started??
Don't know if this helps but I was on this education for about 4 years, was on three 5mg tablets a day. I never had to increase the dose and it worked well for my anxiety without building up tolerance. Hope this helps :)
Dr., I am on 150 mg venlafaxine, and 7.5 Buspar everyday. Still seeing some breakthrough depression, low mood. No motivation. Would you recommend maybe a Wellbutrin and venalfaxine taken together. Would you dc the buspar?
I’m on on Caplyta 10.5 mg. The depression is gone but I have to take it every three days. I have side effects if I take it everyday. My anxiety is serious and have to resort to taking Hydroxyzine. And if that doesn’t help, I take 1 mg of Klonopin. I also take venlafaxine 75 mg that doesn’t do anything at all for me and I’ve taking it for years. I also have PTSD.
I’ve been on it for awhile, and I can’t tell if im now sinking cause of the new issues or if it was me just doing better before, and Buspar was never actually helping.
I have been on Wellbutrin for 5 months now and yesterday started busprione to take with it. I was prescribed it when asked if there was something to boost or help me from losing focus in the afternoon from Wellbutrin. So far busprione is making me tired so I’m sure it will take a few weeks until it does it’s thing. Any one else using both and has it helped.. ???

@@areeb2825 for me it bus has not helped at all or should say making me tired so I stopped taking it. I need to talk with my Dr on maybe trying something else to help or get in a strong adhd med.
I've been on buspirone for almost a year. It's changed my life. I take the 5 mg pills. 2 in the morning two in the evening 2 at. It has taken the edge off me more than I can say. I'm uptight I want things done now if something goes wrong I worry and worry. So this has been amazing. I started the bupropion 100 mg per day. That was 5 weeks ago now I am on the 300 extended release. The only side effect between these medications is dry mouth. I need to take the bupropion first thing in the morning or I am up.
My brother's took it I took it I had some other family members take it it and it will give you sexual dysfunction a male will not be able to do anything
