In this video Lewis reviews a great soldering station, the Weller WES51. You can purchase the iron here: www.amazon.com/... . Follow me on Twitter @electromanlc Check Lewis Productions out online: lewisproduction...
Nice mini review! Just purchased one. Not mentioned in the video: 50W output, 455 Celsius max temperature, which is more than enough for the vast majority of hobbyists. Despite the low price, this station can be turned on and left on for hours if you have a lot of work to do. It's a very capable tool. Thanks again for the review, Sir.
For those whose base unit has capped out, if the 24V transformer is good (there are troubleshooting steps in the booklet) then a new PCB can be bought and replaced. The model/designator is WES206 and it's around $40 shipped with CA tax.
Just some construtive critisizm, you dont need to "stab" the spunge to clean the iron. You just simply "wipe" the tip instead. Doing this will increase the life of the spunge, and not put a gaping hole in the middle of it. Hope this helps.
the solder iron itself is more bullshit then this video no comments ,just read on google what peoples talk about that model of weller in any case for more less cash you can get an very nice xytronic . cheers...
Weller is over-hyped and over expensive...even lower price model in hundreds. Search internet and you'll find that lower price models have so many problem. Not worth it.
