Wellhead Protection Areas Calculations (WHPA) 

Hi. The WHPA can be calculated without the necessity for nearby observation wells. However, the calculation requires the following five parameters: 1. Discharge Rate 2. Thickness of the aquifer 3. Direction and Gradient of Groundwater Flow 4. Hydraulic conductivity in aquifers 5. Active porosity. These characteristics can be determined through field experiments or by using reference values. The last alternative is less preferable.
