Hey it was a great try and learning experience for sure! Happy you didn't get skunked but it's good to know everyone didn't hit a limit and it was much closer than you thought. You would have gotten 3rd if you landed that 2nd fish. I think you did the right thing looking for laydowns and timber or structure with no electronics. Great job on the first tournament 👊

My first big bass tournament I had a dang breakdown on the first day 😂 it got better the next two days Good job Noob. It will get better each time ya go. You’re good fisherman
I felt your pain when that fish came off man! I’m still a month from my first tournament. I actually joined catch 22 and totally forgot an identifier when I went out last week haha so was just free fishing! I normally have identifiers printed in the truck so have to get more in there.
That’s one thing I’ve tried to do - keep a pen and extra ID cards with me haha. The Catch 22 is fun - make sure to cash in on all the discount codes and stuff!! I stocked up on line lol. Yeah man! I was extremely disappointed and deflated haha… I would have finished 3rd if I landed that fish. It was a tough one out there that day. We had some heavy rains and that water had no clarity to it. All the gators have been asleep haha, haven’t seen one in a while, until that day. I have a feeling I’ll be seeing them more often now. I’m glad I put the net up - I almost didn’t. It was a great experience for sure. I almost didn’t go haha, it was supposed to be a really choppy day on the water with a ton of rain. New to your channel. We have a lot of parallels. I have an Old Town 106 PDL, I am also fishing my first tournament next week, and I'm already dealing with nerves. 😂 The club I joined is a 3 fish limit 10" minimum, so you know several people will limit out which puts pressure on me to do the same. I can totally relate to everything you are going through. How did you keep from cursing to the moon when that nice bass spit out the lure. I'm pretty new to the sport so learning a lot. Nice video!

Haha, I’ve worked a lot over the years to not cuss, especially in high stress situations (last job was crazy high stress all the time). I think I do a pretty good job 😂. Tight lines. I really don’t like throwing cranks because I seem to ALWAYS lose them 😂 😭 It was Lake Houston. That water had no visibility lol. I definitely should have used something with rattles.
Hey! Your first tournament will be awesome. Like someone else mentioned - it’s just like another day of fishing. Stick to your guns and throw your confidence baits. Remember to be adaptable on the water. It’ll be a good time!
I’ll keep that in mind. Has that been consistent across all weather conditions? Or a specific time of day? I generally try to fish more shallow the earlier or the later in the day it is.
