SGC has done an outstanding job devouring market share from Beckett and CGC and they were clearly starting to drink the PSA milkshake before Collectors bought them. Their YOY growth rate, particularly in sports - but TCG is great too - is super fascinating. It's tough to sustain 60 annual growth, but I can't wait to see how the market shares look after a year of Collectors ownership.

I think what CGC is doing is more impressive considering they entered the space only a few years ago. Already at #2 behind PSA and ahead of SGC in cards graded monthly…

It looks like Wembys 1st Bowman in a PSA 10 is a better buy than his Prizm Base or Silver. It has held its value very welll and it's a low pop in a PSA 10.

The craziest thing about Wemby is how many people in the comment section of videos talk about "investing" in him and compare his cards to the 86-87 Fleer Jordan. People investing 5 figures expecting to 10X their funds. One commentor compared Wemby cards to Beanie Babies which is fairly accurate IMO.

How is 2023 donruss football the 3rd most graded set. I went between 3 walmarts and 2 targets and never found a single box of retail 😂 as far as I'm concerned it's a myth. It doesn't exist

Wembanyama had a great season, coming off of fanfare and hyped advanced billing hard to live up to, yet he did. The reasonable naysayers see Wemby as candidate to become one of those "What If?" players who suffers a career impacting injury, much as Penny Hardaway and so many hobby darling players have in the past. So, there's a reluctance in "investing" in Wembanyama (as opposed to quick flips like a game of hot potato). Couple that with his minimal impact on the Spurs win/loss record as well as his lack of player charisma (more like Tim Duncan and David Robinson than Kobe, Jordan, Magic, LeBron and others who had/has charismatic flashy swagger and high energy highlight reel players... comparatively he's not yet a hardcourt hero name and seems not to have that personality like a Vince Carter, Allen Iverson or others who capture the fans attention. He is popular 'tho right now due to earning it with his play and stats. He's in a tough spot where he most likely can only disappoint and not live up to lofty expectations.

Collectors of all sizes, high-end investors, card shop owners, flippers, repackers and even hobby influencers (Gary V, etc) have all profited from grading; which is led by an industry leader in PSA. They’re no different than Harley-Davidson; they dominate the market. If you want the best you buy from the best. Otherwise you’d see everyone driving Honda motorcycles or Honda Accords and grading their cards at GMA or HGA.

This is why i collect UFC cards. Mostly the older topps cards 2013 and earlier. I dont have to worry about crazy print runs and parallels and sets released. Panini and Topps are out of their minds nowadays releasing massive amounts of product its insane…

I used to only collect psa and beckett. I got rid of all my bgs cards because they're 1. too big. 2. they won't give anyone 10s. 3. the lables fall out of their positions 4. nobody wants them... psa is the best so that's what people want. I only buy them now

Yes this is where my thoughts are we've seen alot of hype die down but will the hype and value actually hold in 5-10 after a good career. Will that be a learning lesson for the hobby? Very very curious myself

@@bigblazecollects 35 years ago people got burned on "investing" in modern players when production was so high. We'll see how things hold up in 5,10,15 years when we know the pop counts are this high.

Funny cause Beckett to me has by far the best looking slabs. CGC is garbage, tons of junk slabs being graded by resellers. SGC is decent and PSA is carried hard by pokemon. I mostly deal in pokemon and you almost have to have your cards in a PSA slab.

BGS slabs are the easiest to fake by a mile. The metal label comes loose frequently, the inner sleeve often looks foggy or scuffed taking away the eye appeal of the card.

@@NEO_Cards_Comics It is a fact, 8th in completion %, 6th in total yards, 8th in TDs, 5th most INT, 14th in passer rating and 8th in QBR... Brock Purdy was the best QB in 2023 by far and will be the best QB in 2024. Mahomes is an average QB with a great team and coaching. Mahomes best statistical season was 50% due to Tyreek Hill and if he didn't have Kelce and Andy Reid he may have already been gone from the NFL. So it is much more than an interesting take.

I never said he was average but last years stats do indicate closer to middle of the pack than the best. @@SS-pc6dg You literally said he was an average QB in your second post, maybe you are the one who has horrible reading comprehension when you can’t even remember what you originally state. Also compared to other QB’s around the league including Purdy, he does more with less offensively. He has Kelce and a core of garbage receivers and he still took out every team he played en route to his third Superbowl. Again, calling him average when he has two league MVP’s and 3x superbowl rings is idiotic and shows your complete lack of football knowledge.
