I agree with pop's development plan for wemby. Develop his guard skills while he's thin. As wemby puts on weight, he should develop more post skills. By 5 years, he'll become a 7'4 Giannis with Jokic playmaking and hopefully KD shooting. Spurs are molding Vic into an excellent all around player, not just a paint specialist.
@@Triads297Chet’s been in the league a year longer and Wemby still better wait till they’re 25-26 Chet won’t even been in the same conversation because OKC will always be SGAs team at the end of the day
It was obvious this was going to happen no top player would allow that to happen to them again especially back to back he showed up tonight with a chip on the shoulder
7’5 with an 8’ wingspan. Chooses to brick 3-pointers all day instead of doing something like a simple hook shot 6ft from the basket for an EFFICIENT 2 point shot. Make it make sense. 4-13 from 3 last night against a shitty Jazz team. 20% from 3 for the season. 😂
Wemby is always in his groove on Halloween night! The NBA has to make Halloween Night a Wemby special every year-he absolutely electrifies the court! It’s the perfect blend of spooky and spectacular! Let’s make it a tradition! 👽🎃🔥
This is how you bounce back. Not only with incredible stats but with a win. This kid biggest strength is his ability to bounce back. He is hard on himself and ignores the critics. I'm sure after the last performance he was back at the gym or watching film. Wemby is about to hit quad double in no time or hit a quintuple double and make nba history. The sky is the limit with this kid
as media and fans we gotta stop overreacting and let these players play , yesterday it was wemby is trash now everyones gonna has him up again just let him be him
dang this game (to me anyway) really highlighted how much wemby's passing has improved from last year. He was hitting no looks and behind the backs with pinpoint accuracy. He is looking SCARRRRY
When he plays like this he's the best player in the league. It's on the coaching staff and on the players to keep the momentum going. And we need to keep guarding the perimeter like this game
@@ljj734idk he’s pretty inconsistent and very inefficient, especially from 3. Shooting 13 3s from a center in one game is utterly ridiculous. Not smart
@@gregansbootstrap5352 Its very smart if they want to tank more 1 year. So wemby can shoot as many three pointers as he wants. It would be a big bonus if he would learn to shoot , also Spurs potentially drafts a very good player next draft. Twin towers back with Cooper Flagg , that would be funny.
No glaze. No hate. Just one single and obvious FACT: Wemby is not ready physically at the start of this season. Tonight’s performance against a G-league team doing everything it can to draft Cooper Flagg does not change this fact. His (lack of) stamina was already an issue last year, somehow it has gone worse since the start of the Olympics basically… His newfound (one sided) love affair with the 3’s is not the issue, it’s juste a consequence of the same problem. He can’t do 2 consecutive sprints right now before being totally out of breath… That’s also why he can’t fight efficiently for positions in the paint, so he shoots as soon as he sees a window open… That’s also why he can’t drive on his opponents because he does not have that quick first step, and also why he miss a lot of threes because by the time he’s ready to shoot his legs are failing him… Many manifestations of one single problem basically. Problem that can be fixed in the long run way more easily than learning how to shoot or developing a Bball IQ… But he won’t improve by playing like he played since this summer… walking. He’s so talented that he can have good nights without running (not against the best though). But if he wants to improve his motor, there’s only one way: multiply high intensity sprints in the gym or on the tracks day in & day out.
2:29 shows how special Wemby is, defending the ballhandler AND stop the lob. The offense is doing the right play but he still stop it with his alien coverage.
Wow what an incredible game as Wemby is really trying as a Power Center with the shots, blocks and rebounds with the age that he currently is😊👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I just hope this momentum continues
It must be cool to see Wemby record a 5x5 in Utah consider the fact that one of the players who accomplished his feat used to play for that team and I'm talking about Andrei Kirilenko.
Only three players in history have multiple 5 by 5 games: 1) Wemby now has 2 2) AK had 3 3) Hakeem had SIX!! Both AK and Hakeem also had 5 by 6 games, but AK got his in regulation whereas Hakeem needed an overtime. AK once had 14 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists, 7 steals, and 6 blocks in 42 minutes of play. Hakeem once had 38 points, 17 rebounds, 12 blocks, 7 steals, and 6 assists in 53 minutes of play (double overtime game).
Wemby had 1 last year. Before Wemby had 1 last year the last one was in 2019 by Nurkic. Wemby is actually the 3rd player in NBA history to mave multiple 5x5 joining Andrei Kirilenko and Hakeem and he is also the fastest to achieve multiple 5x5 he did it in 76 games not even a full NBA season.
Wow that is absolutely nuts! Thanks for the correctio guys! I had no idea he had already checked that box last season! Forget Porzingis, Wemby is the real Unicorn!
his passing skill improved alot. the aspects that is quite noticeable that he lacks are his postupgame and avoiding turnover. and he also needs to add more weight so that centers like adams will not push him around like a stick.
Another 5 x 5 game. That’s crazy and it’s still early in the season. Ngl, I thought his assists would go down with CP3, Tre, and Stephon in the squad rn.
It’s just weird Wemby fans always talk like “wait for 5 years, he will be”. I don’t see no great players fan showing off how good their player will be but what they have achieved. Not hating on Wemby, dude’s talented asf but I do think he has to change the way he plays the game offensively now . True he has guards skills compared to his size, but his ball handling is not on the level of somebody like Kd. The spurs should use him more wisely rather than letting him chucking up threes.
Everyone talking about “oh he back” but no one giving a solution to how to get past okc’s defense. The jazz are not the thunder, and it will present a real problem in future seasons.
@ what i’m saying is that most normal people knew that wemby was capable of putting up massive numbers. But OKC seems to be the team up next, and if wemby wants to elevate his game and his team, he needs to be able to deal with them. Obviously overreactions happen, but just saying “he stuffed the stat sheet today no worries” isn’t an interesting dialogue. I think devon vassell returning to the lineup will be a huge help. CP is great for his age, but OKC with only 1 center was able to keep wemby to 6 points, and he wasn’t helping much. Vassell will add some extra playmaking, some extra shooting, give them a better chance. Also, wemby still has room to develop, of course, so eventually I think the spurs could be able to punish a drop with cutters, especially if wemby can collapse the defense with drives. Or maybe he can just shoot over them and pull chet out.
Worst of all is that he didn't feel that dominant during the game. Bro attempted and missed way too many threes early in the shot clock, and stayed on the perimeter way too much. I think it's not crazy to say that if he had stayed more in the paint, he'd probably have a triple double with blocks alongside his 5x5. This 5x5 was incredibly low key, it's scary to see the kid make this stat line with only a "decent" game. I wouldn't be surprised to see a quintuple double this season tbh.
Now this is the kind of stat line he should have fairly often against mediocre teams. However, against a great team like OKC he's going to have to work really hard for it.
