We have to be careful about how we use the term Dementia. This term has been used to describe what Wendy Williams is currently experiencing.
While Dementia is an umbrella ☂ term encompassing many different diseases and conditions, it is imperative that we are knowledgeable about our health reporting.

Antoine, in terms of specific people, we don't know everything that people are going through, but it is helpful to be more understanding.

Alzheimer's and Dementia are two different things. As a health care worker, she does display signs of Dementia! I wish she's doing great and being taken care of very well. Also Dementia is a medical diagnosis that only a professional health-care or specialist can diagnose! Dementia and Alzheimer's are not curable in short term does not go away no matter what treatment they receive but however reduce symptoms.

Yes they are. But can be interdependent.

Very good insight. The trauma of illness and divorce could be causing confusion and forgetfulness.
@JustAskDrMacie
@JustAskDrMacie 2 года назад
Absolutely it could. Any type of trauma can be triggering; which is way we cannot qualify anyone else's pain.

I have Graves disease.. I was told at one point in time that I would not be able to work as a nurse anymore and that I would need to go on disability because I was so inundated with antibodies that I had literally lost my mind lost my ability to concentrate lost my ability to think lost my ability to speak correctly. I also had severe muscle weakness I was panting. I had fainting spells I had heart rate issues. I had weakness I had constant charlie horses I've been to more doctors and I can count. Before I was told its GRAVES DISEASE..I'm wondering if her antibodies related to graves disease are so high that her body is so inundated that she cannot function.

Hello Tamra! Thank you so much for sharing your story. This is very enlightening. Such wonderful information about how other chronic illnesses can impact a person’s cognitive abilities. This is very important and I really appreciate your insight. Were you able to get connected to resources?

I found No one really has a clue about GRAVES DISEASE. I did my own research and it was a long journey to remission. today I have been in remission for almost 3 years. I am working almost full time as an RN. I just don't do highly critical thinking positions anymore.

When the thyroid antibodies get so high it inundates the body. There was a point in time the antibodies were so thick in my body I couldn't even see clearly. It affects your mind. Something called Graves psychosis. It's a form of thyro toxicosis. I made major life changes. I refuse to have my thyroid removed. I refuse to have Radioactive iodine. I made major lifestyle changes. And was on medication for several years. But I now can say I am in remission

@@00Tamtam oh great! This is wonderful news. I hope you’re not saddened by the fact that you’re not doing any critical care; several of my nurse friends no longer choose to do critical care. They are very excited about doing case management, in fact, they find that more rewarding. interesting right?

@@00Tamtam thank God! I’m sure one of the lifestyle changes you made was your diet. Would I be correct in saying that?
