Actually, the podium winners most definitely did not do a “check” turn or “snowplow” to reduce speed heading into the cannoness bank turn. Just the opposite. They were in full send mode. This is obvious and confirmed by the race video. The guys who cut their speed w snowplows or check turns finished off the podium. Putting the brakes on in a downhill confirms that you were on the wrong line or read the course wrong. Both mean you lost in a sport decided by hundredths of a second.
I don’t know what video you are watching. Everybody takes out speed before this turn. Everybody, including the race winners. Whoever doesn’t won’t make it to the podium but to the hospital.
