Picked up a PB Swiss ratcheting stubby. Also comes with six bit magazine. Very impressed. Very quiet, solid, robust ratchet. Lifetime warranty.

I’m with you, My Friend. Ratcheting is a MUST in a stubby driver. For me, though, the Wera 1/4” bit ratchet works even better than the stubby. Fits into extremely tight areas and the fact that it is 90° to the fastener helps you generate LOTS of torque. Great video, Man!

Thanks for the suggestion Scott! I have the Wiha 1/4” bit ratchet and I agree, you can get a ton of torque out of those! Always good to hear from you!

One minor problem with Ratcheting stubbies : the mechanism makes them a tad bit longer , thus restricting access . The Wera seems very good in that regard !

If you need to work in confined spaces... ... you take the Zyklop Mini 1. Period. Seriously, it is better in almost everything. Torque? Zyklop gives you much more leverage. The space you can squeeze your screwdriver in? Zyklop is much, much thinner. Ratcheting action? Zyklop has it. Too few torque for ratchet yet? You've got a knurled ring to drive your bit. Portability? Thin package? Zyklop again. The only thing that Zyklop doesn't have is the bits storage. Well, there's Zyklop Pocket now. Not that thin as Zyklop mini, but it's head is thinner that the Stubby's body. And it has twice as many bits in it's magazine.

Why not use a regular small ratchet e.g. from toolcheck plus for these situations?

You definitely could

Does this fit all 1/4” bits? I read that it might not…

As far as I know, I haven't come across any 1/4" bits that don't fit.

Agreed that it has enough girth lol. I have the smaller wera you showed there, its not comfortable. I see the edx point of view, but whenever I want to use it, after my hand hurts, it makes me wish I had something bigger and with ratcheting action, which sounds very much like this wera stubby. I have been eyeballing 816R for the nice torque as well, but its well, also bigger.

The Japanese Anex ratcheting stubby has the largest girth of any stubby that I know and very compact. Very easy on the wrist too.

I totally agree, this wera is useless than the 816RA

@@ParklanCustom Another thing you want to add to your “ Stubby Kit “ is the Malco double ended nut drivers , useful for “ Pocket Socket” problems , on that note ; I need to go on Acme Tool’s site , and get the Metric Malcos !

Another Stubby worth a look : the Whia 14 in 1 ( the Baby Bro. of the Whia 26 in 1 . They use a double ended 1/4 hex. They also make a lot of bit assortments , ie: Security , imperial and Metric hex , etc etc . They aren’t Ratchetting but the double ended architecture gives you a pile of options in a small package . I always keep a 26 in 1 ( the standard size driver , and the 14 in 1 in my EDC / Admin bag . That setup has got me out of a few bad jams ! Their Security assortment is very handy , covers about 95% of “ tamper proof “ screws .
