If you two liked the Buffalo Quarterback, look up Josh Allen rushing highlights, since he's a Quarterback that likes to run, but he's physically bigger than Lamar Jackson and often brute forces his way through or over people rather than cutting between them like Lamar
I love how you guys point out the blocking. Its something that doesnt really get noticed but is also one of the most important skills a team needs. Great vid!
Another thing people don't really talk about is as great as he has been so far, Mark Andrews probably makes up over half his success as a passer. He makes so many plays other TEs can't make. On a pass heavy team Andrews would probably break records. If you have watched Ravens games you already know.
Yesss, Lamar is special bc he’s the best ATHLETE on the field. He’s not fast “for a QB”, he’s just fast. He HAS struggled as a passer lately, but I blame the team for not giving him anyone to throw to (WRs) other than his TE. Great reaction!
Lamar is in an Option system. The plays are designed for the option to pass or run . And on other plays to hand off to RB or run depending on how the Def reacts . A college style of offense that has become popular in the NFL with guys like Lamar.
College doesn’t allow the QB to make the decision (generally, idk if there’s one or two that allow it). College says hand it off to x, or hold it and run, or pass. Pro’s read the defense and decide
@@Ian-qt5si In the college option system its a simple read that the QBs make . If the DE contains you hand-off, if he crashes you run outside him . Its all about putting the DE/OLB in conflict . The coaches decide if its a Run/Run play or a Run/Pass play in the option but absolutely the QB makes the read/decision. In fact even in highschool QB decide to hand-off or keep and run in the option system. If not it would be pointless.
An old football adage. "A good runner will use his blockers. A great runner, will setup his blockers." Meaning the great ones will see the defender coming, and make a move. Not to shake the defender. But to make it easier for his blockers to get in position. Example: I want to go to my right as the ball carrier. But if I juke a half step to the left just before I hit the hole to the right. The defender over the top. Usually a linebacker. Will commit to the left side hopefully. And then the lineman will have an easier time getting in a position to seal that defender off. When they try to come back playside. I may need a marker board to explain any further, lol. Love the video fellas. Great stuff as always.
Such a gifted, hardworking talent... and what an incredible view this man has of the whole field... he knows where everybody is at all times... hard work, great talent, plus more hard work.
@@lucrative6477Bull shit. You ask any of his teammates and couches, he is one of the hardest working NFL players in the business! Obviously you get your information through fake news!
Lamar just asked to be traded today from the Ravens. Rumor has it he turned down a $200 million guaranteed contract because he thinks he can get more. Suggestion, learn about the "franchise tag" (having a player delcared a 'franchise player" and how it affects salary caps and trades. This time of year is really interesting with all the trades and pending draft picks.
Lamar Jackson is a continuation of how the QB position evolved in the modern game. Throughout American Football's history, QB's have scrambled to avoid getting sacked and ran in short yardage situations. But Michael Vick and a couple of other mobile QB's changed the game. When the QB is a verifiable threat to run on any given play, defenses have to adjust and the ripple effect can blow up a defensive scheme that isn't prepared. Because of wear and tear and potential injuries, most football coaches prefer a pocket passer with a huge offensive line for protection, but even within that scheme, having a QB with the ability to take off for large gains can make a team very difficult to defend against. As usual, great video, guys.
You can tell you are very young making a very uninformed comment like that. Calling Vick the first mobile qb is so incredibly uninformed it’s actually funny.
@@lucrative6477 If you think 58 is young. I never called Vick the first mobile QB. I clearly stated that QB's have always scrambled and ran in short yardage situations, but Vick advanced the role. To a certain extent, Steve young and Randall Cunningham did as well. A reply stated that there have always been mobile QB's but they were ignored. That's true, but mostly because the mobility was nothing close to the yardage gains made in the modern game. All-time leaders in rushing yards by a QB are Vick, Newton, Wilson and Cunningham. Apparently your reading comprehension matches your age guessing skills.
@@billwoods9302 you are comparing players who played 12 games per year to players who play 17. Your ignorance is astounding if you are old enough to know better.
When you inevitably cover Cam Newton, *please* cover his Heisman campaign in college along with his NFL career. He won the national championship in 2010 and was rookie of the year in 2011, among other accolades.
If they went to the playoffs he likely would hold the single season rushing record. I hope they fix that team up because I really want to see him succeed. He seemed like a pretty good passer in college hopefully he can get some better chemistry and confidence with the team because I think that's what he really needs to pass well. I always knew he was a good rusher but he was honestly more of a passer in CFB so seeing him get so many yards was nice. I always felt like he could've ran a bit more in college because of how well he did it.
Hey, thanks for this. We have completed a reaction of Justin Field’s 2022 Season Highlights. Unfortunately the NFL blocked 🚫 the reaction and we cannot upload to RU-vid. We have added it to our Patreon where there’s a ton of content we’re unable to put on RU-vid.
Thanks! I wish they'd have shown some of his college career at Univ. of Louisville that earned him the Heisman trophy as the Youngest player ever to have done so. Here's a beer on me guys.
@@DNReacts his college career at louisville was insane! he once passed or ran for a total of EIGHT touchdowns in one game. and the catch is? ............ he only played the first half. they didnt want to risk him getting injured when the game was already won. and the florida state game that year was fantastic as well.
Seeing you guys football knowledge grow as quickly as you are is very impressive 🔥🔥😎 MLB regular season starts on Thursday. Get ready to enjoy the ride 👍🏻💯😎
Damo and Nick, youz are astute: y'all are sports minded and you've progressed to the point where you're not just watching the ball, but watching the blocks, etc. "blocking...block...block," sez Damo. Good on you, DN! ✌🤘👍
Great choice fellas! Lamar is the ultimate dual threat: no matter how you set up your defense to stop him, he can gash you bad for a big gain. Even on a busted play, he can run wild on an NFL defense. He’s the most gifted athlete in America and a must watch every week.

Please react to Michael Vick, Devin Hester’s (College Highlights), DeSean Jackson, and Troy Polamalu if you haven’t already each of these guys are human highlight reels!!!
I'd recommend checking out 2010 Eagles Vs Giants week 15 Also known as the "miracle in the new meadowlands" I don't want to spoil it in case you do react to it, but it's considered one of the best regular season games of the past few decades.
Just subscribed! Always a fun time, and you guys are truly unique in that you're willing to take the time to really learn the sports rather than just watching the same handful of clickbait videos that most other reactors seem to gravitate towards.
Peyton Manning is a different kind of player in terms of how he changed the game on an intellectual level. It might be worth holding off a bit on watching his highlights so that you can catch every nuance of what he does before the ball is snapped, because before every play he's analyzing the defense and changing his offense to pick the opponent apart. He's making on-the-fly changes not with his athleticism (he didn't have much), but with his sheer knowledge of the game and just about everything a defense can do to stop him. His nickname to many was "The Sheriff" but to me he was more of a field general commanding his troops and actively responding second by second to defensive threats before the play even began. With all that said, he'll always be known as a bit of "choke artist" because of his performances in the largest games - he barely squeaked out 2 super bowl wins to Tom Brady's 7 Edit: I love that Damo appreciates the blocking that goes on in every play. Most people relatively new to the game start out with the big hits and jukes because they're flashy, but the longer you watch the less impressive that gets compared with a properly drawn up play/scheme with good execution which will yield consistent gains and points
I loved it, you guys are pretty adept now in your observations and it's been fun getting to watch you guys grow into fans of American football. Keep growing your acumen for the game and it's beautiful nuances! Also maybe do a video once a week where u guys suggest a video for Americans and other viewers alike to watch to learn more about British sport traditions and star athletes, etc. that'd be cool
I’m continually impressed with how well you analyze football players athletic and playmaking ability. I don’t think you’ve been wrong yet on your prognosis. I think its that soccer (football) eye. I’ve noticed those who watch soccer have a keen eye for that.
Just wanna say that clip wasn’t repeated, he did it to the chiefs and the browns, he went viral in high school too back in like 2014 for doing the same thing
you should react to either devonta smith highlights or ed reed highlights. smith is known to be a human highlight reel with some of his catches and ed reed was imo the greatest safety to ever play and was an incredible ball hawk
A great gifted and nice guy. Truly great. If you want to know the history though, watch Michael Vick, first running QB to really make it seem real that QBs could be a threat outside the pocket. Great running QBs came before but he was the first one the world accepted as a duel threat runner and passer. Lamar takes it to the next level hands down
Haven’t watched yet but I’ve been waiting for you guys to react to this dude. Since you guys love Running Backs so much ( I do to) I knew you’d love a qb who was an rb, but still a great qb. Let’s go!
You guys gotta react to Barry Sanders. Possibly the most elusive player ever. Also a reaction to the eagles QB sneak, which looks a lot like a scrum, probably the best power run I've seen in a while. Those would highlight the two ends of the run game.
I love that you appreciate the blocking . Most casual football fans don't , and it is a very important aspect of the game . A very good way of finding out what is really going on in the game is to ignore the ball and just watch the line play for a number of plays , IF the TV coverage shows it well enough . As an old linebacker I hate that the entire focus today is on the passing part of the game .
Man these aren’t even some of his best I feel like. But it’s crazy how even just these plays are so wild. We just resigned him for 185 guaranteed and 260 overall
Lamar is an absolute freak, has the speed and running ability of some of the top running backs and receivers in the league on top of having a great arm. People don’t really talk about his passing much, but he’s got an incredibly strong arm and he’s been getting progressively smarter as a QB. He’s looking really good so far this year with his new offensive coordinator who’s focusing more on his passing ability and his much improved receiving core. Ravens are gonna be a team to watch if they stay playing the way they have been after this 2-0 start.

When you are tacked inbounds the clock keeps running. If the offense hurries to the line and just throws the ball to the ground like a rail road spike it is essentially an incomplete pass hence stopping the clock
Good video.....now you should review a video of just his passes. He's underrated as a passer that looks to protect his tight ends and receivers....(yet they try to say he is inaccurate).
as a bengals fan it hurts to watch his highlights, but he's a beast. Similar vein to jalen hurts. Both good at running and had lots of people that said they would be busts in the NFL. Now both of them have proven to be elite while running. Helped change the game (obvi mike vick did it first)
2:23 - Y'all didn't react too much but that was the normal tight end lining up under center, taking the snap, and running a toss play TO Lamar who was originally in the shotgun but wound up taking the toss like a running back. There are more and more quarterbacks that make plays with their feet and more and more designed quarterback runs where they take the snap and just run with it but that's the only one I can remember where the quarterback takes the toss from, essentially, a running back position. 8:35 - More spot-on analysis from Damo that the Ravens are built around his talents. They already had a coaching staff that like to run the football but when they drafted Lamar, they went all in on being able to let him run both on designed runs and broken down pass plays. The highlight at 9:55 is a great example of why, even today, run-heavy quarterbacks usually don't work out in the NFL but also why Lamar has been an exception to that trend. The defenses are considered to big and too fast for one to survive and thrive but Lamar just toasts this lineman and beats him to the edge where most guys get taken down.
Great insight about the blocking. Greg Roman, the now former offensive coordinator, really is a genius at drawing up running plays and run blocking schemes. It wasn't just Lamar who was successful at running the ball for the Ravens. Unfortunately as good as he was at that, that's how bad he was at drawing up passing schemes. In addition, as the primary playcaller, Roman seemed to move away from this nearly unstoppable run-based offense and emphasized passing plays, where Lamar is still good but not generational. The receivers the Ravens have had are bottom of the league. So that adds up to a frustrating fan experience where you know the team has these incredible weapons that aren't being used properly.
God I hope lamar gets signed somewhere and stays healthy. He's so fun to watch. Yall should definitely react to Aaron Rodgers tho, hes like the blueprint for Mahomes
I like your reactions! Can I suggest two great quarterbacks from the San Francisco 49ers - Joe Montana and Steve Young. Young had an amazing romp to the end zone for the greatest touchdown run I'd seen at the time. Beastmode changed that. Also, an all-time wide receiver, Jerry Rice! Thank you again!
The only times he has been hurt is when he is throwing from the pocket, NOT WHEN HE IS RUNNING! Everyone says this crap when they totally ignore his stats!
Kind of Mousa Dembele for peak Poch era Spurs. Not all the touchdowns and accolades of a Mahomes. But he’s got incredible feet, is extremely quick, and does the little things. The offense needs five yards, and he gets six. Hate playing against him, but his talent is undeniable.
If you guys like Lamar, you should definitely look at Michael Vick. As running QBs go, Vick was far ahead of his time, though, with Vick, context is extremely important as he's a very controversial figure for good reason. Long story short, he was sent to prison for his involvement in a dog fighting ring during the prime of his career and missed several seasons before returning to the NFL with a new team. If not for these legal issues, Vick may have gone down as one of the all time greats. Lamar Jackson, Cam Newton, and other running quarterbacks that we've seen more recently have absolutely earned their respective places in the NFL, but Vick is the one who proved that a running QB could succeed at the NFL level and caused scouts over the last two decades to start taking a closer look at players like Cam and Lamar.
He just asked to be traded because the Ravens won't give him the amount of money guaranteed that he wants. We'll see how it unfolds. Football doesn't generally have a lot of money guaranteed in contracts (although some contracts do). The owner believes his injury history precludes him getting a lot guaranteed over a long period. This one will get interesting. I believe they will meet in the middle somewhere.
If you continue watching Lamar Jackson you guys should watch the action Jackson film made by Joseph Vincent. It’s a little bit more in depth about his journey to the NFL. Also maybe some highlights of his best throwing and running plays throughout his NFL career or college career
For QBs other then Lamar and mahomes : throwing highlights : Aaron Rodgers, Russell wilson GOAT : tom brady, Peyton manning Running : cam newton, Michael vick
If u wanna see this style of offense wit a devastating pass game too...go check Jalen Hurts & the Eagles offense...they didn't go to the Super Bowl for no reason...
When he came into the NFL a lot of people said he was a running back or a wide receiver. People hated on him, horribly. But yea that’s my QB. There’s a lot my good plays they didn’t show I would say are a lot better, every yea the gets better and better. He helped get up to the AFC championship game this year. But we lost to maholmes😤.
LJ got so much hate coming out of college and still gets it saying he can't throw the ball. But one of his best throws was when he jumped up and threw a perfect strong pass. And one of his best plays was when the team was down the he had to go to the locker room (some say to take a shit lol) came back and won the game.
He's a phenomenally elusive runner, plus he's only half a step slower than Michael Vick. He can make defenders miss tackles better than most running backs. If Jackson improves his passing accuracy, the Ravens will be a nightmare on offense. I've seen many drives stall due to off-target passes. EDIT: Oh, damn! I forgot he's requesting a trade.
U guys gotta check out a different highlight reel of Lamar’s, it seems they tried this one to only show mainly him runnin , we won the NFL MVP at 22 years old in 2019, he led the league in TD passes!! So he’s also a great passer, but the fact he’s the greatest rushing QB in history makes me ppl think he can’t throw??
Quarterbacks that can pass effectively usually last longer in the game. If you look at the most injury prone position, it is the running back (usually - while looking this up there was an information bit that stated the wide receivers were the most injured during the 2021-22 season). With that in mind, a quarterback that runs a lot will have a shorter career, due to injuries (QBs are not protected as much by the rules of the game once they start running and the defense likes to make them pay for their runs), than a quarterback that can throw the ball effectively. Also, age will slow a player down usually. So, while Lamar (and others like him) can be exciting to watch, their effectiveness, or ability to play, only lasts for a few years. I looked up the longevity for several QBs and Michael Vick (one of the best running QBs) had 13 years in the league compared to closer to 20 for most every other QB of note (Montana, the Mannings, Marino, and of course Brady)
I’d even say that Vick was an outlier. Of course, had he not gone to jail, we wouldn’t know how long his career would’ve lasted. But even 13 years is very good for any QB, really, but especially for a QB that ran as often as he did. He also threw the prettiest spirals I can recall seeing. I think part of that was because he was a lefty & it just looks different to what we’re used to seeing since the majority of QBs are right handed.
The editing of this video done by the person who created the video, should have made to make it simple., just show the highlights instead of adding a dramatic effect. But otherwise the highlights by Lamar Jackson is great. Also great reaction as well. Love seeing the guy on the left point out all the blocks being done because blocking goes unnoticed and is very unappreciative. The big men up front needs love too 😅.
Dude can definitely run. But he can be susceptible to making bad decisions when the defensive pressure is on and he can't run. Ex; watch the hilights of the end of the Giants/Ravens game from last season and you'll see what i mean.
that game had a little bit of everything. the giants were so beat up on defense that the ravens seemed to get 10 yards per play. yet when it came down to to the wire lamar got strip sacked and lost the game, then blamed everyone else.
Here's a few vids to watch: Tom Brady Career Peyton Manning career Michael Vick John Elway comebacks Derrick Henry rb "Big" Ben Rothlestburger rookie year Pittsburgh Steelers - Steel Curtain
The one downside to Lamar Jackson is quarterbacks that play like this don't usually have long careers because they take a lot of hits, and Lamar has already had a few seasons cut short due to injury
Great vid, gents!! Can't wait for the Peyton Manning watch. I hope you see the HUGE difference in how he played vs some of the running quarterbacks you've watched! lol
So with blocking: The offense is "one", 1 unit they all operate in unison theres no "blockers" everyone blocks running backs, receivers quarterbacks. Same goes for when the defense catches an interception everyone wants to score blocking is second nature it should never take away from the skill of any ball carrier.
