It's really too early to judge. The run of form after a few games will show where Germany are at. I think it's a given that Germany would beat Scotland like that based on the difference in the calibre of players in both teams.

It's the story of every tournament that in the quarters or semis two teams of similar quality on paper face each other but the less convincing team so far beat the more convincing team so far. Can happen to germany and can happen to every team. In successful tournaments Germany usually start with a blow out followed by a draw or a 1-0 and another draw or 1-0 or 2-1. In the past years germany didn't struggled against the top teams they struggled against teams like Scotland and Hungary as they always did throughout their history. The only difference is in the past 5-6 years was that germany lacking intensity against these teams which caused them to lose these games.

Yes, the German Gegenpressen completely destroyed Scotland in the first 20 minutes. After that, it was a comfortable 2:0 for Germany and the Scottish players were simply too outclassed and kind of game up.

@@Matt-ou7tuyou really need this in your life eh? 😂 Germany literally squeezed & grinded Scotland completely and took like even the slightest thought of a counter, because they always but so much presssure on the Scots, the hardly played more than 3-4x passes till they lost the ball. Andrich just bossed them around and Tah/Rüdiger in the center and Kimmich/Mittelstedt on the wings… they also shifted to 2-3 gear in the second half.

Not one German player held onto the ball for more than 3 seconds. Ball into feet and then passed onto someone else within 3 seconds or it was a shot or a cross. That's how to beat a narrow low block.

aye Scotland were shut. They've been shut for the last 10 games. They're playing a 5-4-1 and playing negative football. Scotland have always been shut but today was one of the shuttiest performances I have ever seen by a shutty Scotland side. If I played in that Scotland team I would be feart to show my face in public again.

@@elyrexo he played a flat 3 at the back who were pretty deep with no pace and had a static 4 in the middle with robertson and Ralston pushing up as wingers or inside to support the midfield but we just had big pockets of space all over our half especially wide when we won the ball back nobody was in a good position to receive the ball and find another team mate in a good position. U could see in the first 5 mins we were going to get picked off and it needed changed. He could have at least made it more difficult for Germany to have all these pockets of space in our half, most teams would have picked us off, that's how we're losing so many goals now, we've completely changed since our group games and the players aren't buying it by the looks of it. The players tho need a good look at themselves as some where absolutely shocking.
