To be fair, the reason that Pentex hasn't been nuked off the face of the earth is, IIRC, because the average furry is not aware that Pentex is actively breeding Banes.
@@ThePrimogen You just tone down the overt destruction aspects and play up the beneficial apathy to regulations. If the players want to do infiltration, I suggest using the Recruting Hell subreddit when they apply.
I kept hearing about Pentex from my WoD players but this was more useful that their explanations. I especially liked the idea of the Syndicate being involved. In games I've run, small but influential sections of the Syndicate are already heavily influenced by Pentex.
Pentex is a wonderful pastiche of 90s megacorporations that unfortunately feel a bit too close at home in the 2020s, but yeah I definitely enjoy writing about them and I'm glad you found this video useful! :D
There is so much detail to the Pentex lore once you jump into the various subsidiaries. My favorite is the Action Bill animatronic figures in Avalon Incorporated's offices secretly being Hit Mark units. You thought your pack was sneaking into some cartoon TV show's offices... Surprise! You're now fighting terminator robots.
Glad to introduce you to it! :D Pentex is one of the most fun things about Werewolf, but alas it's growing increasingly difficult to parody the reality we live in.
Best damn video to showcase Pentex since my orientation meetings with the 'Gentleman' Harold Zettler! Lupines be thrice-damned for messing with servants of the Wyrm!!
Okay, so this informational geomid should allow us to pinpoint who posted this comment, yeah, we can just contact the nearest Caern and let the locals take care of it... (Gotta love the Garou!)
Idk if anyone watches Hololive EN, but I think they're subtly hinting towards Pentex in their Hunter: the Vigil (different WoD, but eh who cares lol it's fun) playthrough by refrencing the Wyrm and featuring Magadon. So I'm getting all the lore on _that_ that I can lol
I have yet to really get into Werewolf: The Apocalypse, but Pentex is really giving me Chronos Corporation vibes. And I love it! For anyone who loves old school anime, you know what I'm talking about :)
The unfortunate thing with parodies is that you will continue to have to shift the goal post when whatever you're parodying just becomes more absurd than your mockery.
Lanyard McTuffin; Chairman of Academous, Pentex's Charter School subsidiary which has made it their business model to provide top quality learning through what they call "Minimalist Education". Gone are the days of benches, projectors, jungle gyms and dangerous woodshop tools; instead, Academous promotes healthy learning through the use of imagination and collaborative play. The students of Academous learn to wield the most powerful tool in their arsenal, their brain, which can easily turn a gravel pit into the dig-site of an ancient tomb, or the library filled with pamphlets and Reader's Digest into an actual library! Academous has shown a constant increase in profit during its 20 years' existence and the government funding is all carefully funneled into the owners' pockets.
Wait the Sabbat has worked for Pentex and Black Spiral Dancers? So working with demons bad but working with bane spirits good? That seems like infernalism to me and i am surprised the Sabbat inquisition has not run up on those wyrm aligned Sabbat.
I think Zettler might be a holdover from 1e time when infernalism wasn’t as big of a deal in the Sabbat. I’m going to assume there’s deffo very little collaboration in post v20
The sort of work the Sabbat does with Pentex and the BSDs is more akin to "Say, we hate werewolves and you love hunting them. Go kill some and we'll give you cash and prizes, and maybe help you take some turf from those other asshole vampires." They don't get to see the Banes. Now if they *did* happen to see some...well, they either A.) Assume they're a pack of infernalists and go ape-shit, or B.) Reason their way using Sabbat logic to "Pentex is a tool of the Antidelluvians! Reeeee!" and proceed to go apeshit.
You could possibly justify it by saying that Pentex is using its wealth and influence to protect a group of infernalist sabbat from the sabbat inquisition. It would make a certain level of sense given just how powerful and plugged into supernatural world Pentex is. Who wouldn’t want a small army of psychotic evil for the sake being evil demon worshipping vampire as the tip of their kill teams spear. Especially when they are basically at war with Werewolves.
Bro I got an idea for a new werewolf the apocalypse game which maybe we could combine the destruction and chaos of Just cause (which is a game about destroying corporations and overthrowing dictators by destroying every single piece of property they own) with the story telling of werewolf the apocalypse heart of the forest. Have a combination of character development, choices and consequences, and all out destruction of pentex and other companies with the choice of going in silently or going in loud and rampaging through the factories in your crinos form killing everything that moves.
The Technocratic Union would be able to take down Pentex if only the Synidcate would come clean about their screw-up of allowing their Special Projects Division to ally with Pentex. They are not a combat focused Convention within the Technocratic Union(that role goes to Iteration X and the Void Engineers) so they are the least capable of dealing with it, yet they don't want to lose face to their rivals, the New World Order, which might make the N.W.O the sole head of the Union with the Syndicate so disgraced. White Wolf has to maintain the Statuesque somehow... Although in Technocracy Reloaded the Union seems to be sending Cybertooth Tigers to protect Rainforests from Pentex operations. The Revised Progenitors Convejtion Book also mentions a possible blooming alliance with the Glass Walker tribe of Garou.
I really wanted to make a joking response, with "wake up SHEEPLE!" And such, about how it really is reality with the wyrm and all, but considering the current media and political climate, I'm not willing to take the risk some dumbass is going to think I'm serious. :(
Oh, it is TRUE, plus the 'Wyrm' thing (but under a different name)! And it's been going on from millennia(!!) ago - not just nowadays. Just start doing your homework and delve into the subject of the Archons and Demiurge, that the ancient Gnostics warned us about from long ago (and who were sadly eradicated eventually), plus what has been revealed in recent years from some people's experiences with those parasitic entities, and additionally research and investigation into the metaphysics of everything ... You will end up seriously questioning EVERYTHING you thought you knew (because that's how we are being indoctrinated and systematically dumbed down for far too long -- to stay superficial and ignorant).
Great video I wonder when are going to more Videos on the Wyrm and it's insidious agents. Oh or maybe a Pentex series of WTA lore concerning Pentex it's most prominent members and the history as well as it's subsidaries and what they do for a living.
I have a vampire character who’s a former giovanni that left the family to become an industrial spy. He keeps ending up working against Pentex. Not out of a vendetta. But because he can’t throw a single fucking stone without hitting the hydra
The saddest part about all of it is the werewolves could have stopped it, had they simply snuffed out their own foolish pride maybe humanity could have gone down a different path. It instead they killed them in droves leaving humanity out of fear to seek out for wyrm as honestly a form of protection even if they don't realize it even exists. Because when your afraid of the dark it only makes sense to light up the night And then werewolf killed every other changing Breed that could have given them aid to help combat the wyrm.
Core Rules, maybe Dark Ages, the Book of Nod, I find the White Wolf wiki useful, and your imagination. There are a lot of books for this setting, but the vast majority of them are strictly optional/supplemental in my opinion.
Aside from the great suggestions from Swiss Army Knight, I also recommend reading the Ventrue and Malkavian clanbooks; they will provide some insight into the two ruling clans of Rome. Also, it's not the same setting, but for inspiration I know Vampire: the Requiem had an entire setting sourcebook in Rome.
Its really hard to get an internship position; Ive been rejected twice; oh and I heard that Magadon is donating to the Trump campaign, (get it, Maga-don)
@@ThePrimogen I kind of want to disagree on impulse/denial, but after listening to an environmental podcast today in the morning, it's amazing how people can put their own personal interests in front of that of the planet. The unfortunate thing is it's not like we can stop using our cars, but corporations just don't want to take responsibility with how things are properly disposed of. Well here's hoping that Humanity figures out the issue before it becomes irreversible, or that I died of old age in my lifetime, and don't have to experience this in the future...😒
Any system run by humans is doomed to suffer hardship. We're too corruptible. Checks and balances are essential, and we're losing more of them as time goes on.
@@ThePrimogen yeah we're spot on today with WoD everyone's become greedy and shady even companies that were still pure have fallen into greed now but some are falling out and getting put down but now I just wanna see them all fail miserably.
